64 Deathless death

[Incursion : Territory is under attack. As leader of the Adrian zone, protect your territory at all costs]

•Failure- Death

"What?!!!" Finn couldn't help but mutter. It hadn't been long since he just finished fighting off the omni secra serpent which undoubtedly had him beat and his life was in danger. Then came a new quest that brought new trials.

"So the system is aware that I would have most likely abandoned this so called...colony of Adrian. To force me to comply, the cost of failing this quest is death. It still makes no difference since all the while, death has been the accomplice of anything I face here" Finn thought to himself while accessing the situation before him.

There were several unknown factors like what was evading and from where it came from. Several things appeared blurry in the first place but he got a hint of just where whatever was attacking was coming from.

Looking ahead, he could see a small number of flying figures approach him. Instinctively, he knew they weren't coming for him, rather, they were running from something.

"If the vermins who seem not to be scare of anything are actually running from whatever it is... I'm guessing I should be worried too," Finn thought as he watched them fly past him.

What occurred to him though was that the headless demons he had raised weren't running off as well.

"Have they all been killed? I mean it would make sense considering they used up the energy I gave them to fight off those insects. Or perhaps its something else that's totally ridiculous!" Finn looked around to analyze the scenario. If anything, being near lifeless beings, they weren't the most thoughtful heads out there. So naturally, they would do some unbelievable things.

And to quell his suspicions, he decided to investigate. Leaving the infant omni secra serpents behind, he walked through the swamp heading towards the direction that the vermins retreated from.

Holding his breath, he was ready and anticipated any surprise. Still, he wasn't prepared for the scene unfolding before him. He had gotten there late to find the last of the headless demon doing exactly what he had predicted.

"They obeyed till the end and fought off anything that was a threat. The vermins passed me by like I wasn't there not because of fear but because I was the new leader of this colony. Still, that leaves me to battle whatever destroyed my army of demon Finns in such gruesome manner. I don't know if I should be excited about it but I definitely need to be prepared!" Finn said as he looked around to see multiple hands and legs floating on the water. Bearing a horrified face, Finn walked through the water in search of any clue as to what might have done such.

While engrossed in finding out what had attacked, from behind, rising out of the depths of the water was the prime culprit. The energy around the area shifted drastically. Finn stopped in his tracks as he heard the sound of water dripping down as though rain was falling. But he knew that not to be the case as behind him, he could hear subtle breathing sounds as well as a warm hair.

Turning around, Finn met eyes with what he was to battle.

-This isn't an attack on the territory. It's a score that needs to be settled. It wasn't around the premises of the colony when I took over which would explain why it's being counted as an external threat-

*Shriaaaah* (loud beast cry)

"I'm guessing those are your babies and the one I just killed was your husband, correct?" Finn said looking at the beast. Backing away slowly, he began to head back towards where there was land at the forest area.

"Riarghhhhh!!!" a louder cry than the first one was heard from the beast yet again. But that wasn't what bothered him the most. It was the sound coming from behind him that concerned him.

He turned around to see multiple light rays of different colours shooting out from the forest. On one hand, the light source seemed stagnant but when he looked closely, he could see that they appeared to be moving towards his direction. And as they did, sounds of something cracking open could be heard. It then struck him at that point what he was witnessing.

"By the beards of the callous gods, this isn't even a forest to begin with. Granted there are trees but they serve a different purpose. I am right at the heart of the nest of an omni secra serpent!!" Finn's eyes bulged out in realization.

Escaping wasn't even an option if he ever wished. More so, he had no idea where h would run to if given the chance. And to make situations even more dire, a new quest popped up.

Meanwhile, in a much more darker place, there lied a body covered with a black fabric. The body was placed upon an elevated flat surface. Red candle lights were lit around the platform on which the body laid. On the walls were also lit torches put in place.

The walls themselves were made of stones and there were rough and uneven edges all over. Opposite where the body laid on the platform was an exit and stepping in through were two figures cloaked in an all black robe reminiscent to those that priests wore.

As the two figures came in, one was taller than the other. They both stood near the platform where the body laid covered in the black fabric. The taller and much older of the two raised her hand to touch the body lying there but that's when a voice stopped her from doing so.

"Do not touch the body... The king only permits you to see it!!" dressed in a similar robe as the two figures that entered before was another one. This time he was a male and the unique thing about his robe was the emblem on the shoulder. It was a design made to resemble a tear drop but was red. He had to of it on each shoulder signalling he was a second class vampire pawn. And where they were all standing now was inside a tomb.

"It is my brother who lies here. Surely, you have a heart and must reconsider carrying out such orders!!!" the shorter one amongst the two who came in first said. She stared intensely with her dark eyes which housed nothing but determination.

The Vampire soldier kept mute as he allowed the two females to carry on what they were doing.

"I don't know what they did to you at that prison. But it's already been a week since you've been in this state of deathless death. Wake up brother," Juan thought to herself while staring at the body on the platform. Her mother, Agatha, ran her hands across the body's face which happened to belong to Finn.
