3 Chapter Three: My Bullets against Yours

Into the woods deep within the jungle, Granger, together with the Moniyan army, pursued the deadly thieves.

It was a cold and silent evening.

On the way were jungle monsters which slowed the pace of their pursuit.

Granger, who only has 6 bullets dashed from side to side avoiding unnecessary combat.

Matthaius who noticed the young kid's handicap decided to aid him throughout the way.

An hour passed, still no progress.

Due to the annoying jungle monsters attacks, Matthaius and Granger were separated from Tigreal and other knights.

"We're going deeper...Its dangerous out here. Any further we might encounter demons from the dark abyss."

Granger's eyes doesn't change... the hatred is obviously there, and the drive of revenge still remains.

"We need to regroup with the others kid. It could be a disaster for the both of us. My sword and my rifle can't save us if things go hairy."

Granger after an hour of silence decided to open his mouth.

"I recognized this place...When I was younger, I tend to visit an old cathedral not far from here. I tend to do things alone that's why no one knew about this."

"An old cathedral? That must be it! If they managed to vanish so easily, they might be hiding in there."

Granger's eyes became much more determined. Matthaius noticed this and immediately warned him.

"You stay here while I report to Commander Tigreal about this."

Matthaius immediately left the inexperienced young man.

The passion on Granger's eyes heatened up.

Tigreal together with his men fought a hard battle against the monsters trying to distruct their pursuit.

These monsters aren't really an ally of the dark abyss. In fact, they were wild monsters which serves no master. Its safe to assume they are neutral.

Slashing their swords, the knights battled their hearts out.

"Go on! Sound the horn of victory!"

Tigreal roared as they slash their swords towards their enemy.

He saw Matthaius approaching his direction.

"Where's the kid?" he asked.

"I... I...lost track of him!" he stuttered.

The commander was furious!

"What?! anyways do you have something to report?!"

"Sorry sir, haven't seen them as well."

Tigreal ordered his men to fall back for now.

As they are leaving the battlefield, Matthaius couldn't help but be concerned with the young demon hunter leaving him to pursue the thieves alone.

"Granger, I'm sorry I have to leave this thing to you. I know this is brutal since you've only just began, but if you cower this time, you will never be successful."

It was almost dawn yet the skies became unpleasant. Lightning flashes from the skies; the resounding deep noise of thunderclaps are resounding into every ear.

Inside the old cathedral were 6 unknown men. They were buffed, huge scary men. Their skins were filled with scars which serves as signs of their dirty work. They had long beards and cold eyes.

One of them grabbed a bag of gold coins laughing as if he is proud of what success they had.

"Screams and the sound of gold coins excite me!"

One of them replied...

"The pursuers of the Moniyan empire will never find us!"

Everyone laughed with great satisfaction.

until...

...the fire lit up above at the candles which serves as their light had suddenly vanished!

Everyone was surprised. Its as if a grim warning has befall them.

"I can't see a thing!"

Little did they know that the young man whom they ignored to kill earlier is already standing in the middle of them.

One by one, he used his pistol to eliminate them. Every single man with each bullet.

And in a blink of an eye, five were immediately down; lifeless on the ground.

One of them hid against a table.

His face is pale! His confidence face earlier had vanished---it all turned into fear.

He felt something creepy beside him, then he turned his head to satisfy his curiousity.

Then he realized, it was Granger. pointing his deadly pistol towards the thief. His fatal last bullet awaits his death. The last thing he heard is that the young man uttered the last words he'll ever hear.

"Eye for an eye!"

Then Granger pulled the pistols trigger.

The dawn arrived, the skies began to lighten.

Granger walked off the cathedral as if nothing happened. This time, all six bullets were all used up.

As he continued to walk outside, a man is making an attempt to execute him while he is pointing his gun.

"Is it you? Are you the one who killed my allies?"

Granger stopped moving.

This time, he's at a great disadvantage since his bullets were a used up and the gap between him and his for is too huge.

He's out of options this time. He's still i experienced.

He couldn't move.

The man is about to pull the trigger when...

A shot suddenly emerged from a different direction.

The man who pointed out his weapon against Granger is now lifeless on the ground.

Granger heightened up his senses up for he doesn't feel comfortable about the scenario. He immediately dashes under a tree to find some cover.

He can feel that someone is approaching fast at him. He looked around and saw nothing.

He tried to switch cover and look for another tree.

But...

...He realized it was a bad move.

"Who are you?!"

A lady's voice appeared from his back.

He can feel the rifle's muzzle from his back.

Granger didn't utter any word.

"Why are you pursuing the mercenaries whom I am after for as well?!"

"That's none of your business woman."

"Just tell me who you are, or I might pull the trigger and put an end of your life right here."

Granger who doesn't want to cooperate at first is now out of options.

"Granger, and I plan to be a demon hunter."

The lady became suspicious of him.

"What do you mean with plan. You're not a demon hunter yet?!"

"Yep, I just came here to take revenge from the people who took my teacher's life. satisfied?"

"last question..."

"Let's make this quick!"

"Fine, how can I assure you're not a demon yourself?!"

"I came from the monastery, I was an orphan. I once reside in this village before the war broke out."

Great silence followed up.

Granger decided to turn his head to see the face of the lady who is willing to kill him any time.

"Who told you that you can move? Alright, for now, I'll let you go. But I don't like to see you interfering with my job. Otherwise, its my bullets against yours!"

Granger didn't utter a word.

She ceased her killing attempt and vanished into thin air. Its happened in a blink of an eye yet Granger didn't have a chance to take a glimpse of her face.

He smirked.

"My bullets against yours. Interesting!"
