8 Chapter Eight: Rescue

"What do you mean?" Granger asked the troubled commander.

"News just came in that Matthaius was missing. He was last seen walking through the southern forest and hasn't returned ever since. Our only conclusion at the moment is that, maybe a demon abducted him someplace else. And that's when we saw all of you. I thought, the elves were the ones responsible for it. And I apologize."

Alucard arrived at the scene. "If those speculations are true, then it's better if we join forces as we face those formidable opponents."

"I doubt the elves would allow this."

"It's a pleasure to joining our forces with you." Estes who just arrived, uttered words of assurance.

"For honor!" Tigreal raised his sword above---everyone acknowledged, his gesture.

The joint forces between the Moniyans and the Moon elves marched forward, trying to raid the scheduled sacrifice at the sacrificial pit. Where the dark elves together with Karina's sister, Selena have gathered---waiting for the Abyss Dominator to devour his given meal.

Selena is just three years older than Karina and ever since, she haven't engaged herself in battle since her older sister is overprotective to her.

Karina only has only one concern as of now.

To rescue her sister from the dark.

The sacrificial pit also serves as a passageway towards the dark abyss territory. In fact, it is one of the most dangerous places in the whole entirety land of dawn.

Midnight has fallen. The shrill grating sounds of ravens are resonating everywhere.

The sacrifice is about to begin.

Selena, stood up, her hands being tied up---preparing to be devoured is silently weeping inside. Mourning that this might be her last days alive. However, her sister is unable to be seen.

The strong breeze howled back and forth---her pink hair waved together with the end. Her tears are starting to fall.

The sacrificial pit opened up!

One by one, the demons marched outside preparing for the most awaited event. The high ranking demons such as Alice and Helcurt arrived at the scene. Even their two assistants were there; the carrier of the spear of destruction and scorpion demon who was known to be the scorpion king.

Finally, the Abyss Dominator arrived!

Selena's legs were trembling as she saw the hideous face of the monster who is about to devour her towards the sacrificial pit. "Could this be my end?" she uttered as her tears are continuously flowing. She couldn't catalyze courage since her sibling is yet to arrive.

She couldn't escape---now is not the time! In front of her are the creepy picture of the Abyssal demons and when she turned her back, her fellow dark elves, hungry for power are waiting for the Abyssal demon's blessing.

As she marched forward the hungry demon, her heart is beating at a high pace. Alice, also known as the apocalypse queen, walked towards her and grabbed her right arm. It was a tight grip that she even wailed in agony.

They we about to reach the entrance of the sacrificial pit when…

"Beside evil, there is justice!" a voice of a familiar woman arrived at the scene carrying two blades while being half cloaked with invisibility.

She charged towards both her sister and the Alice. However, with the apocalypse queen's evasive power, she used a ball of blood to determine their teleport position and immediately teleported. Thus, they managed to dodge the dark elf assassin's attack!

Selena turned her back, and recognized the assassin who rushed towards their location. "Sister!" she cried as she stares her sister who came for her aid.

Alice was filled with anger after realizing that someone attempts to defy the Dominator's will. "How dare you interrupt the sacrificial ceremony?!" Others who are around were surprised as well about the sudden change of pace.

A demon named Moskov, one of the high ranking demons and also serves as a second in command to Alice, stepped forward. With his violet appearance, dark aura and bluish hair---carrying a large spear which many called the "Spear of Destruction". "As you are aware, you are standing alone in front of countless followers and demons of the dark abyss. Is this how you wished to die?"

Karina smirked…"If you really think I'm a fool, charging towards the battlefield without enough firepower in my arsenal, you're completely mistaken."

"GO ON, SOUND THE HORN OF VICTORY!" out of nowhere, a loud cry suddenly emerged.

One by one, squad by squad, the warriors of both the human realm and the Moon elves, charged towards the enemy.

Swords against blades, magic against magic; the sacrificial pit became a sudden battle ground to everyone present.

Alice together with Moskov, decided to bring the Abyss Dominator to safety. Since the sacrifice haven't started yet, the Abyss Dominator isn't powerful enough to fight against numerous foe. They grabbed Selena as well as they enter the portal which leads to the Dark Abyss territory.

Karina, upon seeing this, immediately dashed out the battle field in order to chase for her sister.

As she was about to reach the open, the ground began to shake. Suddenly, a high ranking demon suddenly emerged in front of her. Similar to the other demons, he also has a violet appearance, however, his stature is of a human. His has blades on either of his hands that resembles a scorpion's pincers. His eyes were filled with black smoke and has a huge build. It seems to be a tough opponent for her.

She back out a bit and realized who her opponent is.

"So it's you scorpion demon."

The battle continued fiercely as both forces struggles to find an advantage. Karina is currently battling a tough opponent which exceeded her expectations. "This is going to be difficult." She wiped her cheek as blood drips from it. Their battle went on until…

For an instance, everything turned darker for a while that even the moonlight is nowhere to be seen.

"He's making his move." Granger who is waiting beside a rock, put on a smile on his face. A smile filled with excitement and determination towards the potential clash between him and his parents' suspected assailant. "Hunting in the middle of war."

Karina and the scorpion demon continued their bloody match. It was unpredictable at first however, the scorpion found an opening and dashed towards the back of Karina. This time, the assassin couldn't move a muscle. She closed her eyes as she awaits her demise.

The scorpion demon is about to slash her with his deadly pincers. However, a metallic "clang!" suddenly sounded.

Karina opened her eyes to see what had happened. There she saw Tigreal, blocking the scorpion demon's attack towards her. However, she noticed that the human commander's eyes was suddenly filled with great disbelief---His eyes widened. It is clearly a non-verbal message upon seeing that he couldn't believe what he saw.

"Matthaius?!" It was a word of disbelief in Tigreal's mouth---his eyes are showing the same as well. "YOU'RE AN ABYSSAL?!"
