Equality

Is equality truly achievable? We can argue all we want that humans are equal, but the truth is inescapable. All the righteous values are irrelevant in the face of bitter truth. So, what if you go blabbering about humans being equal. We will inevitably suffer from the inequality called genetics and environment. Haha.... And the funny thing is equality will never exist, and that's obvious.

I let out a sigh, as I woke up from my bed.

My thoughts are all over the place. I got up and started stepping towards the door. Outside, the world greeted me with a warm embrace of sunlight, but my thoughts remained shrouded in shadows. I strolled through the bustling city, observing the diverse faces that passed me by. The words I had read echoed in my mind, and I couldn't help but wonder about the people I encountered – their dreams, struggles, and the invisible chains that bound them. As I wandered deeper into the streets, something fell from the sky.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I hastened my steps toward the fallen object. "Am I seeing things?". As I got closer to the object, I realized it was a notebook. Picking it up, I saw two ominous words inscribed on its cover: DEATH NOTE. The notebook held a peculiar allure, a pitch-black notebook exuding a mysterious charm. With a mix of curiosity and caution, I turned the pages of the notebook. To my surprise, the contents were anything but ordinary. Each page listed a name, accompanied by details about the individual. I couldn't help but feel a chill down my spine, realizing the gravity of what I held in my hands.

As my eyes scanned the pages, I noticed a pattern – every name on the list seemed to correspond with a person's cause of death. The thought of wielding such power sent shivers through me. How could this notebook seemingly predict and influence people's fates?

A part of me didn't want to believe the shits written here while the other part wanted to check if it's real. Tucking the notebook away safely, I decided to head home.

...

I stared at the rules written in the first page of the notebook. I can't go around and start to kill people for god's sake. Every crime will be brought to light one day, even if it might take years. "Sigh! What a drag". Even if I were to experiment on this, it would have to be on something that won't be able to trace back to me. As I kept pondering, a thought came into me. One can control his victim's action right before dying, that means "Controlling a rich person to give up all his money to me right before he dies is entirely possible. Yes! I am a genius, Wahahaha." I started grinning like a madman.

"Rei, dinner's ready. Come downstairs," called out my mother with a warm and inviting tone. The voice of my mom brought me back to reality. If I want to use the notebook in the most efficient way, I need to use it to make sure I get the most benefits out of it.

While controlling someone to give up all of his money may sound nice and all but it might be too risky. How will I explain the sudden increase in my wealth to the authorities or even my family. Maybe, I can go around posting stuff on the Dark Web as a Hitman. Nah, that's even more riskier than the previous approach. I will have to make a thorough investigation on the target before making my move.
