11 One Step Closer to Ending the Madness

It came to the day where Light is finally going to meet Near and hopefully destroy him once and for all.

"Are you ready to meet Near, Light?" asked Aizawa.

"Yeah I'm ready. Hopefully he can earn my trust and work along side us in this investigation." answered Light.

They went to the place where Near said to meet. Aizawa went to see Near before Light and some of the others went in to the building. Light and the others (and not to forget Ryuk too) headed in to the building to confront Near and the other men and woman who came from America.

Light meets the group of Americans but they faces are covered.

"It's good to meet you, Light Yagami." said Near sharply.

"And the same to you, Near." replied Light, "quick question, are you really Near or are you a decoy."

Near answered, "Yes I am the real Near."

"And why are you wearing a mask?" asked Light.

"The reason why I am wearing a mask is for my protection." Near answered.

Light replied, "You really think that I am Kira. I assure you I am not Kira; anyway, can you please take off your mask because the rest off us are literally risking our lives here. Any of us could be Kira! My team could of been dead already if Kira was in this very room; so, please...show us your face. We need to show trust in one another."

Near proceeded to take his mask off; Light was glad that Near took his mask off because he will be able to kill him once his real name is revealed.

Near said, "Now I have revealed my face, I am exposed to Kira and I'm possibly going to be killed; anyway, I asked another man to come along to this building. His name may or may not be familiar to you; the name of this man is Teru Mikami."

"The name is familiar. Was he on that Kira talk show?" replied Light, pretending to not know who he is.

Aizawa quickly answered, "Yes, he has been on those talk shows."

Near then said, "Teru Mikami will arrive between now and the next hour. He will arrive from that door there," -- pointing to a door that was of the right side of Near --, "He might not enter straight away."

Light listens to him; he's intrigued in what Near has planned. Eventually Near had stopped talking and everyone waited for Teru to arrive. Light didn't expect Near to 'invite' Teru over but it was great that he was coming because Teru would be able to kill Near.

After a long while waiting for Teru to eventually arrive, Teru stands outside the door of where Near said he'll come in at. Teru slightly opens the door to check if anyone was in the building. He couldn't believe that almost all of them were going to die. He regonised Light so he knows not to kill him.

"There is Teru now," Near finally announced, "Light, I know that Teru is part of this Kira case; I'm very sure that he is not the original Kira. A while ago I had gotten one of people behind me to replace the killer notebook with a fake one. He can probably see our names with these 'shinigami eyes' but it won't be much use to them."

Teru is writing the names down of the last SPK members, especially Near's real name which is Nate River, and the other names of the Japanese Police Force.

Light was completely oblivious on what Near had told him; Light could only think about winning the battle against Near and rule the world.

After Teru wrote the names of the SPK members Japanese Police Force, he started to count down the time and burst through the door of the building with a devilish looking grin on his face and chuckled away; the time became closer and closer to the end and Teru's chuckle became into a big guffaw.

As the time came to an end, Light tried to mutter under his breath, "I win."
