2 Why Didn't You Help?

"Dad!" A young man shouts as he sees his dead father. Dressed in office clothing, the young man quickly hangs up the call he was making. The stillness of his body startles the young man as he kneels by his father's bedside.

"Honey!" A woman appears through the door. She is covered in accessories and is wearing a flamboyant dress. Her face is covered in makeup and shows the ways she tried to erase any sign of aging. She runs over with eyes filled with tears and grabs the dead man's hand.

Death glances over. This woman is not the woman Daniel looked for as he was dying. Death glances at the young man as well. Daniel did not look for his son either. Death looks at himself in the mirror again. He is an old woman, however, she doesn't hide her wrinkles like this woman did. As Death looks at the dead man, he can see the callouses on his hand from years of manual labor. He can also see into his deepest feelings, showing Death that Daniel never forgot his first wife, the woman he always had in his heart.

Death checks his watch which indicates that this person has no more time in his lifeline. Death takes the man's soul. It is now a dark black. He stuffs it into a jar hastily and transports himself to the next location. Today he is in front of a small garden in a park. Behind is a large pond sparkling with clear water. There are barely any people except a young woman reading a book and a little boy playing near the pond by himself.

The little boy looks at the pond in awe, which is filled with tiny, glimmering fish. The boy plays with the fish, his chubby and slow fingers unable to catch the agile fish that flit through his fingers.

Death looks over at the boy and sees how quickly his soul is darkening. He checks his watch to see that the boy only has a few more minutes to live. However, the little boy does not realize his impeding doom. He leans in closer and closer to the water. Just as Death walks right next to the boy, the child falls into the pool.

Death watches as the boy drowns in the pond, gasping for air. The little boy has not yet learned how to swim or the dangers of water. As the little boy swallows the pond water he manages to scream for help.

"Aahhh! Help Me!" He screams as Death stares at the child mercilessly. However, the girl reading the book stands up suddenly. She drops her book on the dirt path and sprints into the pool where the little boy is drowning. Death cannot belive his eyes. As the girl pulls the child out of the water, he can see that the child's soul that was turning blacker and blacker has suddenly turned clear. He looks at his watch which shows that this child still has 70 years left to live.

Who is this girl? Death thinks to himself as he stares at the girl, now soaked in water.

However, what happens next suprises him more.

The girl stands up slowly and turns to Death. She looks at him straight in the eye.

"What are you doing? Why didn't help him when he was right next too you?!" She says angrily.

Death cannot believe what he is hearing. How can this girl see him?
