3 I'm Not A Mister

"Are you deaf?" The girl shouts at him. Death stares helplessly at the woman in front of him. All of a sudden, he feels awkward. No one has directly talked to him before like this. He was always someone familiar to a person dying yet this time he is a stranger to this very alive girl.

"..." Death still cannot say anything, astonished by this girl who can see him.

"Mister, who are you? Didn't you see that kid drowning? You were staring directly at him but you did nothing!"

"..."

"Hello? Can you hear me?" The girl says again, exasperated. Death stares at her dumbly. He manages to spit out two words.

"I'm not..."

"What? Speak up!"

"I'm not a mister." Death manages to say, finally regaining his senses. As soons as he says this, he wants to hit himself on the head. How could he say something so idiotic!

The girl stares at him viciously, daggers shooting through her eyes.

"I don't think that's the problem right now. You completly ignored a drowning kid!" She exclaims.

"Well... Umm... thats because..." Death stutters.

"It's because?"

"Well, it's quite the opposite of my job you see." Death says. As soon as these words leave his lips, Death realizes his mistake. The girl's face falls immediately, a horrified expression taking over her face.

"Are you..."

Death nervously swallows. He wonders if she has figured out that his job is to collect the dead.

"Are you part of the mob?" The girl says with wide eyes.

"Yes!" Death blurts out. "Anything other than the Grim Reaper," he thinks. As he watches the girl try to understand the situation, Death slowly starts to retreat. He sees a nearby tree and thinks to himself, "I'll hide behind it and teleport somewhere else!"

"That's even worse!" The girl exclaims. "I'm going to call the police!" She says as she takes out her phone, as she takes her eyes off Death for one moment.

But that moment is all Death needs as he sprints toward the tree that he saw before.

"Hey! Stop right there!" The girl yells running after him. Just as Death is about to hide behind the tree, the girl yanks his shirt sleeve to stop him from running. She and Death both fall down on the grass. As she pins him down, Death begins to feel strange. His usually cold body begins to feel warmer. He can feel his ears and face getting hot. As he stares at the girl on top of him, he can see all her facial features. Her long brown hair, her bright brown eyes, and her pink lips. Death has seen countless people before through his line of work, people much more beautiful than this girl. Yet, Death cannot tear his eyes off of her.

As soon as the girl notices the man's facial expression, she quickly moves away from him. She can feel herself getting red as she tries to hide her face behind a curtain of her hair.

Death takes this opportunity to escape as he quickly gets up. He runs behind the tree and teleports himself out of the park. The girl also chases after him, but it is too late, Death has already left.

"Darn it! Where did he go?" Th girl says as she runs around the tree over and over again as if she was going to find something new. However, of course there is nothing but disappointment. The girl sighs and gives up, sitting while leaning on the tree.

"I thought I would catch you this time..."
