3 Who's the Girl?

I'm out the balcony staring out into the city and I think about how this all happened; I clearly remember still being me yesterday. I try to remember if I knew this girl but I can't think of anything, I don't think I've ever met her before.

I avoid mirrors for the meantime while I try to resolve and accept that this is me right now.

I brush my hand through my hair and take a swig of my beer; I look down on the bottle and realize that I'm getting tipsy.

"Crap, I can't even drink in this body."

She must have no tolerance for alcohol since I've had just two swigs. I put down the bottle. I need a clear head if I want to get through this.

"I'd be really excited right now if I didn't think there's a possibility you could really be Jace."

Grizz walks out on the balcony while looking curiously at me. He sits on the chair and looks me up and down. I'm wearing my crisp white shirt and no underpants because I can't find anything that fits - man, this girl is tiny.

I realize how this might look for Grizz because I've seen this body and I can't really blame him for checking it out.

I shake my head. This is fucking weird.

I look at Grizz and glare at him.

"Keep it in your pants, Grizz before I cut that off."

His eyes bug out of his head and I laugh.

"Not that you have any use for it, eh? You still a virgin?" I joke.

He chokes on his beer and coughs violently and I laugh louder.

"Oh fuck, Grizz. I thought you'd have your own band of harlots by now."

He potests but stutters, "I'm not a virgin!"

I cock an eyebrow.

Grizz is not by any means ugly. He's around 5'8", he's gotten a lot more muscle since I met him - he was a skinny turd. He's got a fresh face, brown eyes, ginger hair and some freckles on his cheeks. He's adorable. But I have come to find out that being adorable doesn't get you the girls. He's got zero sex appeal.

I think sex appeal and confidence trumps good looks every time. We've been friends for three years but being associated with me doesn't help his game. I mean, why would you hang out with the adorable best friend when you can get with the dangerous assassin, am I right?

I try to give him a break, "I mean, it's totally fine Grizz, you're just what? Twenty One? You still have some time."

I grin and he mumbles, "What do you know?"

I face him and lean my hip against the railing, "I just thought you'd hook up with that girl you've been following, what's her name?"

He looks annoyed.

I snap my fingers, "I got it! Laura, right?"

He looks sad, "She's dating Mac now."

I snort, "Mac? The bartender? Seriously? He's got nothing on you, man."

I don't understand women, I mean how can you not like Grizz? He's decent and is a good guy.

He looks at me, confused, "I never told anyone but Jace about Laura."

I look at him, serious and I raise my eyebrows, "I told you."

He shakes his head, "You're not Jace. It's impossible."

He looks me up and down again, "You're his exact opposite, I mean he's tall, you're small. He's got tons of tattoos and you're flawless. He's muscled and you look like you haven't even lifted a weight before."

I snort but check my arms, there's muscle but it looks like it needs a lot of work. I sigh and take the seat on the opposite side of him.

He swings his head and looks at the city, "Geesh, cover that up, will you?"

I look back down and my legs are spread again, "Shit."

I cross my leg over the other and feel like a... well, girl. I roll my eyes, "Just tell me the last time you saw me, I mean Jace. What happened? Did I say anything weird? Did anything odd happen?"

Grizz looks back at me and furrows his brows, "I don't know. We just finished a job and you were being your usual self. You gave me your Katana and told me you're going home to shower because some blood splattered on your clothes."

I wrinkle my nose. I hate getting blood on my clothes.

He's trying to remember but I can see he can't really think of anything, he just takes a swig of his beer and continues, "That's the last time I talked to you and the last time I saw you."

I think about it and remember something very important, I ran inside the apartment and looked around.

"Glock! Glock! Here buddy! Where are you?"

I run around and look for him at his favorite spots but I realize I haven't heard him bark since I woke up. I turn around and see Grizz looking at me with sad eyes.

"Sorry I didn't tell you sooner, Glock disappeared the same night you did."

My hands ball into fists. Now I'm fucking furious. It's one thing to turn me into a girl but it's another to take my fucking dog.

"We have to go to the Stone City. I need answers."
