16 Glade

I have prepared, I was mentally preparing myself for what was about to come. So almost nothing will shock me, I didn't know if I was going to spawn in the maze or the Glade, but I was prepared for anything.

I watched the timer tick down, slowly it went down from a minute to 30 seconds, 3, 2, and 1. As soon as the timer hit 0 my vision went black. 

Cold metal was the first sensation I felt, quickly followed by the clanging of machinery all around me, in my right hand I felt the metal of my knife as I gripped it. It seemed I'm going upward, lights shone through the cage I was in as I felt it speed up.

I was traveling upwards in this elevator, quickly upwards. Until I felt it slow down, my weight seemed to drop at a steady decrease in speed. Looking up at the top of this cage I was in, I saw a sliver of light coming from the sun.

It stopped, the elevator stopped moving, and I was able to get a better look around me. There were a couple of boxes in one corner of the metal box I was in, 4 to be exact and that was it. Only four boxes.

'Ok so how do I get out of this cage?' I wasn't surprised at my situation, I did prepare. Looking up at the sliver of light I could make out that there were two doors, but I couldn't reach them with my height. Looking at the boxes I bet I could reach the doors when stepping on one of them.

Going to the boxes I grab one and try to move it, but to no success as it was too heavy. Going to the second box I tried to move it and I succeeded, this one wasn't as heavy as the other one. Putting it right under the door I stepped on the box and was now able to reach the door.

*Creek* The door opened to the bright sun glaring right at me, it was mid-afternoon. I grunt as I pull myself up from the metal box. Looking around me I was in the middle of a Glade, boxed off by huge walls expanding into the heavens. There was the hope of climbing the walls in the Orphanage, but these walls did not look like they could be climbed.

The only break in the walled-off glade was the giant openings to what I can only assume was the maze, these openings extended up the wall. 'First order of business is to find some shelter, then water and food. I would use the metal box as shelter, but if it can go up then it can go down.' I think as I go back into the metal box.

'I need to get the stuff in these boxes out before this thing goes back down' I think as I try and pry open one of the boxes. I started with the one I used to get up, opening the box wasn't hard and what I found inside was seeds, lots of seeds filling the whole box.

I then went to the second box, and looking inside I found rations, these could probably last me for a while. In the third box, I found tools. I went into the fourth box and found nothing, nothing except a note that said…

'You must be very confused and that is normal, you don't remember anything even your name, but I assure you that this is all for a very good reason, but that doesn't matter right now, what does matter is your survival and remember, W.I.C.K.E.D is good.'

Reading the note I could gather some things, I'm supposed to not remember anything outside the Glade, which isn't a problem as I already don't remember that much. I could also gather that whoever put me in here is probably the same person that wrote this letter.

After reading the letter I stuff it in my pocket. 'I need to get all of this outside of the Metal Box' I think as I dump out the contents of one of the boxes, flipping over the box and putting it under the doors so I could get out, I then take off my shirt and tie the openings for my head and arms together to create a bag of sorts.

Gathering the stuff I dumped out I put it in my shirt, filled it up, climbed up the now empty box and dumped the stuff outside of the metal box, and continued to repeat the process until all of the stuff was out of the metal box except the boxes.

'That was tiring' I think as I catch my breath for a second. 'Ok I still have to get the boxes out of there' I think as I head back in, not before I put my shirt back on. Lifting one of the boxes, I was able to easily pick it up, with all of the stuff out of it it was easy to pick up and put it outside of the metal box.

Repeating the process 2 more times I was able to get ¾ of the Boxes out, to get the last one out I had to lean over the opening of the doors and reach down to pick up the box I was using to step up and pulled myself back out of the metal cage with the box in hand.

I didn't have to use the shirt methods with the seed box as that one was light enough to pick up and put out without taking any of the seeds out. 'Ok now that is done I should find some shelter, then some water, I'm covered in food so I don't have to worry about it.'

Covering all of the supplies in their crates so no animals get to them I set out to look for some shelter, with my knife in hand I set out to the forests in the corner. The geography of this place is quite simple, in the four corners is a forest, while the rest of the place is plains that lead to the four openings in the wall.

Making my way to one of these corner forests I make sure to be very careful of where I walk, making sure to be as silent as possible. I'm in front of the woods, there is plenty of wood for future endeavors just in these woods. 

Walking as silently as possible I explored the woods, looking around for any water source, I was also making sure that the glade was safe by searching for any predators. But something was wrong, I haven't found any animal except bugs, only bugs inhabited this glade.

'I guess I'm the only mammal in this glade, I'm not sure about the maze though' I think as I confirm to have not found any animals or water. I head to the next woods and these were slightly bigger, not worrying about any sound I was making as I doubt I will find any animals in these woods.

Searching through the woods I found sticks and leaves, but no water.

I was starting to get worried after I went to the third woods and searched there yet did not find any water. 'What if there was no water in this glade, the only source I can think of other than a lake in the rain, and I don't think I will be able to survive on just rain, there will become a time of a drought and I will die from dehydration.' I think worried as I make my way to the fourth forest.

I was not worried about any sound at this point as I was hurrying to find water, also daylight was wasting and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to build my shelter out of sticks and leaves. Going straight through the woods rapidly searching I was relieved to find right behind the woods a lake filled with fresh water.

"Oh thank God," I say, relieved at the sight of water. I was also getting parched at this point as the sun was setting late in the afternoon. 'Ok, now that I have a source of water I need a shelter and a fire.' I think as I started searching the woods for a long stick, I didn't take long to find it. I prop the stick up on a nearby tree.

Searching for smaller sticks to prop up on the long stick took a while, but with my hard work I was eventually able to get the foundation of this shelter down, I then needed to find leaves and brush laying around the forest to put atop the sticks, thus creating a shelter. It was getting very late now, so I needed to get to sleep. Having a bad sleeping schedule in the wild is not a good idea.

Laying a lot of leaves down under the shelter to make it at least a bit more comfortable, I lie down and close my eyes. 'I'll have to create a fire tomorrow and boil some water, I have a pot that was in the tools box I can use to boil the water, but now I need some sleep' I think as I drift off to sleep.
