1 Chapter 1: Dating system?
"Congratulations, you have been chosen as the host for the Doki Doki Dating System!"
Lin Fan had been sitting in front of his computer playing his favourite dating sim when he suddenly heard this voice in his head. The worst thing was that he was at the best part when this voice suddenly sounded.
Lin Fan took off his headphones and looked around, but seeing that there was no one there, he asked, "Hello? Is anyone there?"
The voice once again sounded in his mind, "Hello, host, you have been chosen for the Doki Doki Dating System as the Goddess of Love has felt sorry for you after looking over your life. Before the system issues a quest, please save your current state as a precaution."
Lin Fan was still confused by all of this as he repeated, "Save? What do you mean by save?"
"Save request has been confirmed. The host had created a save file."
Lin Fan finally couldn't take it anymore and shouted, "Will you just tell me what is going on!?"
But the moment he did, there was a knocking on the wall as his next door neighbour shouted at him to keep quiet.
Still, the system responded and said, "Host, the Doki Doki Dating system will help you finally leave your single life and find the love of your dream. Please go out and find a girl to capture, the system will do its best in supporting you!"
Lin Fan didn't know what to say to this system. It was asking someone like him to go out and hit on a girl?
Lin Fan was the very definition of normal, rather he was normal when it came to his appearance, the other parts of his life were all below average.
After an incident at his university, he had dropped out in his second year and had stopped going out completely.
His parents still supported him, but seeing how concerned they were with him, it filled him with guilt. Especially when he saw just how hard they worked to support him with everything they had.
Since he was young, while his family wasn't rich, they had always given him the best, but he had never realized that until he was older.
The guilt completely ate away at him until he had sunk himself into his dating sim games, he no longer stepped out other than to buy food once a week.
It had even been a year since he last saw his parents, but still the money kept coming every month…
In the end, Lin Fan chalked it up as himself going crazy from all the games that he had been playing recently and decided to go out for some fresh air. He also needed to pick up some food and snacks, so this was the perfect chance anyway since it was currently the middle of the night.
Ever since he had become a recluse, Lin Fan had chosen to go out whenever it was the middle of the night since he was afraid of crowds. Just being in the center of a crowd made his breathing get faster and he broke out in a cold sweat, it was like his body went against him and he couldn't do a single thing.
Lin Fan headed to the local convenience store to pick up some food and some snacks. All his food in the last year had all been processed and it had been a long time since he had eaten a handmade meal.
After picking out his favourite cup noodles and snacks, Lin Fan carried them in a large bundle in his arms as he made his way to the counter.
Since it was late at night, there was pretty much no one else in the store, so Lin Fan didn't have to wait at all to reach the counter.
The moment he did reach the counter, his arms that were rather weak from his lack of exercise couldn't hold the large bundle that he had anymore. His hands crumbled under the bundle and he fell forward, dropping the entire bundle on the counter.
The girl at the counter had been surprised by the sudden action, but then she revealed a faint smile.
Lin Fan's face couldn't help turning a bit red from this, but he also revealed an awkward smile, hoping that he could just play it off.
But then there was a screen that suddenly appeared in front of him, filling him with shock with the content on it.
"You have encountered a F Rank target, will you accept this quest?"
Lin Fan was taken aback by what he had just heard.
F Rank target? Was the system talking about this girl in front of him?
After hearing this, Lin Fan couldn't help taking a good look at this girl.
Even though she was wearing a blue work uniform, her figure was being perfectly displayed in it. While her chest wasn't giant, they still weren't considered small, being just the right size to give her a great figure along with her perfectly round bottom.
Then there was her face, which had perfect white skin, cherry red lips, big wide black eyes, and a nice ponytail that held her long black hair. No matter which angle looked at her from, she was definitely considered a beauty.
Lin Fan had been in this store many times before, so naturally he had seen this girl before, but he had the awareness of the mob character that he was. He knew that someone like him would never be able to catch the attention of a girl like this, so he had always kept his head down and moved out as quickly as possible.
But now the system was telling him that he had a chance to be with a girl like this? A girl that he had only dreamed of before?
Lin Fan didn't hesitate any further as he immediately said in his mind, "Accept!"
"Congratulations on accepting this F Rank quest. Please capture the target Chu Chu. You have been given three load chances for this F Rank quest. Rewards will be given after the quest is complete."
Lin Fan paused for a second to think, "Load chances? What does that mean?"
But he didn't have long to continue that thought since there was a panel that had appeared in front of his face with three different speech options for him.
1. I'm sorry for staring, it's just that I was lost in the beauty of your eyes.
2. Ah! I'm sorry, it's, it's just you're too beautiful…
3. Just scan it, I'm in a hurry!
These were like the options in the dating sim games that he played, so he was very familiar with them. To be honest, after all the dating sims that he played, he considered himself the god of capturing when it came to dating sims.
It was clear that the right choice was 1. Even though it sounded a bit arrogant, girls generally liked to hear a bit of confidence based on his experience.
He chose 1 in his mind and the moment that he thought it, he felt like he had lost control of his body.
Actually, during that entire time where the notification had popped up, it was as if time had been frozen around them. But the moment he made up his mind, it was like time began moving forward again.
Lin Fan lost full control of his body as he leaned over the counter and said, "I'm sorry for staring, it's just that I was lost in the beauty of your eyes. If possible, could I get your number so we can get together some time?"
The girl looked at Lin Fan in surprise as if she had never expected this from him, but then she revealed a smile as she leaned in as well and said, "Well, I'm free after work. How about you come and pick me up then?"
It was a good thing that the system had been controlling his body, otherwise he definitely would have looked like an idiot with his mouth gaping open. But since the system had control of his body, naturally it wouldn't let him make a fool of himself.
Lin Fan's controlled body continued in the same manner as he took out his phone and said, "How about you give me your number and I'll come pick you up after work."
The girl paused for a second before taking the phone and entering her number. Then she said with a wink, "I get off in another hour, don't be late."
The rest was completely forgotten by Lin Fan as the girl scanned his items and sent him off with a wave and a smile.
When Lin Fan came out of the store, he couldn't believe what had just happened. He even had to pinch himself first just to make sure that he wasn't dreaming.
Feeling the pain, he was immediately filled with joy!
It wasn't a dream! He had actually gotten a date with that cute girl!
But then he suddenly realized there was a very big problem!
Just look at the way he was dressed, if he was to go on a date like this, what would the other side think?
So Lin Fan immediately rushed off, not even thinking about how strange it was that the girl had suddenly agreed to go on a date with him.
As he left, the girl had been watching him out of the glass window with a strange look in her eyes, but she didn't stare long before she went back to take care of another customer who had come up the counter.
