Apocalypse

When Hyeon finally stepped outside the gates that enclosed Caldwell High School. What he saw was a whole different world from what he had originally expected. He never really expected anything to change, he thought or rather hoped that for some reason Caldwell was the only place affected by these strange events.

The scene in front of him said otherwise.

Cars were flipped over with their widows smashed, some on fire with unconscious people behind the wheels looking as if a mass accident happened. There were bodies everywhere his eyes went, some died in such a cruel and horrifying way they couldn't even turn. This scene made his mouth water. He felt utterly disgusted.

When he saw the condition the world was in, he turned and ran. "Yeon! Mom! Dad!" He ran like his life depended on it, he was as fast as zombies when they're chasing humans and they were really fast. His speed had gotten out of control as he was not used to it, he stumbled over a can and fell to the ground, However that didn't stop him.

Hyeon pulled himself from the harsh road and pushed through the hoard of zombies that were munching on a live human. "He- Help me." The Woman gurgled on her own blood. "He- Help me." Hyeon ignored her and kept running.

There were times when zombies would flock to him and then quickly lose interest and others when they would outright ignore him. The ones who'd flock to him had hindered his journey, and he was growing annoyed by the minute.

Hyeon pushed himself to move faster, he didn't want to wait another minute. He had argued with their parents in the car earlier in the morning when he and his sister were being brought to school and he didn't want that to be their last memory of him.

Finally seeing the street sign for the street he lived on, Hyeon could almost feel his eyes grow watery though that was now impossible. He almost flew through the door of his house that was wide open, giving room to suspicion.

"Mom?" There was no reply. "Dad?" He was growing restless and sped walked through the entirety of the first floor. "Yeon?" There was no reply, the house was deathly silent. Hyeon ran up the stairs with loud thuds and searched the upper floor.

The bathrooms, the bedrooms, the closets, he had turned the place upside down and there was still no sign of the three.

Thud, Thud, Thud

The sound was coming from downstairs. Hyeon warily descended the stairs and walked towards the front door, he grabbed the bat that had always been there in preparation of there being an intruder.

The bat was metal and was quite heavy in Hyeon's hand the day before, However, that was no longer the case. It had nails sticking out like spikes all over it, these nails made it look quite deadly. Gripping the bat in hand, Hyeon made his way to the one room he had not checked.

The washroom.

"Mom?.... Dad?...…Yeon?...." All three calls had gotten him no reply, only a harsher thudding sound as if something was constantly banging itself against a door.

Yeon dreaded what laid behind those closed doors. However, he steeled his nerves and pushed the door open.

There were three zombies in the room at different positions. One was busy banging herself among the cupboards -the source of the thudding- another had been moaning while staring at nothing in particular and the other was just roaming around the room.

Hyeon was in too much of a frantic state when he had just arrived that he had not noticed these sounds and only after he had calmed down did his sensitive ears pick up on them.

The two adult zombies were undoubtedly his parents, he knew that from the similar features they had to his parents and the fact that they were wearing the same clothes he had seen them in earlier.

The other one was a teenager looking to be as old as his sister but it definitely wasn't. He took a step closer and peered down at the name tag on her uniform blouse above her left top pocket , it read 'Miriam Blake.'

A sudden memory resurfaced. "Miriam, I like you!" A thirteen year old Hyeon yelled with a formal Korean bow that he'd grown up learning. His eyes were squeezed shut in anxiety as he patiently waited for an answer with his head still bowed, when he didn't get a reply he slowly opened his eyes and looked up.

A small pfft left Miriam's lips and she quickly clamped her hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry, I have a fiancé." This was before Hyeon found out he was gay and Miriam rejection hadn't affected him at all. He found out that Miriam was in an arranged marriage with some kid who went to a prestigious school a good four hour drive from Caldwell.

It was only 2 months after this rejection that Hyeon found out that he wasn't as straight as he thought.

He felt sad that his mother and father had become like this but unfortunately he could only silently mourn and not shed a single tear.

"Yeon… Please be alive."

Hyeon relaxed on the long couch and dug the remote from the creases of the cushion where Yeon liked to hide it so she'd get to watch what she wanted to watch. She'd always wonder how Hyeon ended up getting to it first and when she voiced her question he'd shrug and say 'You're just too dumb." But the truth was, the first few times he almost gave up searching before he accidentally stumbled across it when his mother had forced her to help her clean.

From then on, he'd hide out and watch her hide the remote while smirking to himself. She truly though she was dumb and got more and more frustrated with every hide and the more easier they were to find.

He pressed the red button at the top and after playing around with the stations for a while, he finally got on the channel he wanted. The one that portrayed the latest news around the world.

"We have happenings like this all over the word, people feasting on people and turning into things. After the many movies out there it would be dumb not to know what was going on.

Zombies. Everywhere, all over the world is being infested by these unwanted creatures. The armies are doing their best to come up with a solution to this national threat level case. We have utilised the base normally used in large scale wars and it will be put to the use of protecting civilians and giving you a place to rest and relax. You can be assured that no infected person will be able to make it inside as we have top checkups and security.

The base is located at Oulton street, Montana. Those who are watching this, we hope you stay safe and make it here with your friends and family. Start packing your essentials right now and head out, we will welcome you with open arms."

[Oulton street, Montana just popped into my head, I have no idea if somewhere like that actually exists but if it does, there is no relation.]

"We are truly in the middle of an apocalypse- '' Hyeon got up and turned off the TV. His goal was now to find his sister and then head over to that base so that she can live without fear.

That is if she was still alive.

I'm terribly sorry for the short chapter and I'm sorry to say that there'll probably be more in the future, but please bear with me. I have school to juggle and I'm entering a contest with another book -also BL- its called "Cursed By You" Don't worry though, I won't abandon this book :)
