3 Chapter 2

As I was in the process of cleaning my room to make more space for my companions, I heard the doorbell and ran down the spiral staircase. I ran through the foyer to

the front door, swinging the door wide open to see the smiling faces of my girls. They ran in the door and wrapped me in a giant bearhug, refusing to let me go for a

solid five minutes, the whole while I stood there not knowing what to do. When they released me, I looked at them each in turn and grabbed their stuff and carried it

up to my room, by myself. They tried to protest but I would not hear it.

"Jade let us help."

"Yeah we are your house guests!"

I stopped and wheeled around and looked at them.

"Exactly, you are my house guests which means you don't have to carry your own bags up to my room!"

They sighed as they realized that I was, in fact, correct. I bounded up the staircase, toting the luggage. By the time we got to the top of the steps, they each looked

out of breath, while I was still able to do it again with twice the amount of baggage. Watching even our sports star huff and puff trying to catch her breath, made me

chuckle to myself as I lead them down the hall to my bedroom, which was one of the master bedrooms and had its own master bath. It suddenly dawned on me that this was

the first time the girls had ever been in my room and watching the looks on their faces made me burst out in laughter as they took in the sight of my sleeping

quarters.

"Hey what's so funny," Takashi inquired.

I held up my hand to signal that I would respond as soon as I was able to actually able to catch my breath from laughing so hard. By the time I was finally able to

stop laughing and be able to breath, they were all looking at me, curious of what made me laugh so much.

"Y...Your faces when you saw me room, the reaction was priceless. I only wish I had gotten a photograph of it."

The girls looked at each other in turn and started laughing before they decided it would be a good idea to tackle me onto my bed, causing me to drop their bags onto

the hardwood floor, making a loud thud that echoed throughout the house. This caused all of us to errupt in a wave of laughter once again. As we managed to calm

ourselves down from our laughing fits, we sat ourselves up on my bed and went to grab the bags and that is when I remembered the box that I was handed earlier in

the day. I slid off my bed, grabbed the bags and opened my bedside table drawer to retrieve the oak box that the principle handed me. Once I had the items in hand,

I pounced on my bed and handed Takashi and Nana their bags and waited for them to start going through them before I opened the unknown treasure. I carefully unlatched

the lid and slid it back to reveal another small box. I repeated the process to find a small pendant with the words "Your Life Will Always Be Enchanted" engraved on

the front. The pendant was in the shape of the moon and the sun. I stared at it in awe and found a note underneath it. I decided to read the note later when they

were asleep. In the meantime, I put on the necklace and put the box back in its drawer.

After I had put the box in the drawer, I noticed that the girls had finished unpacking their stuff and were looking at me.

"Hey Jade where did you get that necklace," Nana was the first to speak. "It's super cute."

Takashi nodded in agreement as I looked at it.

"O-Oh this thing? It was a gift from my grandpa. I guess he gave it to the principle to give to me on the day he died so that I would always have something

to remember him by."

I gripped the necklace as I thought about my grandfather and how he had always been there, even when he did not have to be. I remembered how he was the firt person

to want to help me and momma after my dad died. I saw his face the day we found out my mom was dead. I closed my eyes, trying to make those images go away, knowing

that I was on the verge of tears again. That was when I felt two pairs of arms wrap around me and I immediately opened my eyes and saw that Takashi and Nana were

holding me tightly, like they were trying to keep me together because they knew that I was slowly falling to pieces. I held onto them as tightly as I could trying to

keep myself from having an anxiety attack. That was when Nana started to sing our song. I looked up at her in shock but my shock only grew as Takashi joined in and

started to sing with her and their voices blended in perfect harmony. I could not do anything but sit and stare, listening to them sing. As the song grew to an end,

I laid my head on Nana's lap and felt safer than I did when I got in my car earlier.

I opened my eyes to see that I was still laying in Nana's lap and realized that I had fallen asleep and that the entire time I was asleep, Nana stroked my hair.

Peering up at her from beneath my hair I saw the softest smile I had ever seen on her face as she gazed down at me. It made me wonder what she was thinking but I was

enjoying seeing her soft smile too much to disturb her because I knew the moment that I would speak it would be gone, so instead I just painted a visual image of it

in my head that I would hold onto for the rest of my life. After about ten minutes of staring at the beauty that was my lifelong best friend, I had to stretch, so I

stretched out and watched as the smile I loved so much disappeared from her face and was replaced by her normal smirk. I slowly raised up from her lap to see Takashi

was staring at us with wide eyes and blush on her face.

"Um Takashi, why are you looking at us like that," I asked her inqisitivly.

"Oh no reason. No reason at all," she chuckled softly.

I didn't believe her but I left it at that and sat up on my bed and realized that while I was dozing off, they had changed into their pajamas. I glanced over at my

alarm clock and saw that it was fifteen until nine at night. My eyes widened. I couldnt believe that I had slept for that long and that them moving to change did not

wake me up. I was normally a very light sleeper. I shrugged it off as me being exhausted from the events of the day as Lainey walked in the room with three steaming

hot cups of her homemade hot chocolate. The three of us basically ran to greet her and we each grabbed a cup taking in the warmth and sweet aroma of the delicious

drink that was brought to us. I sat mine down on the bedside table so I could change into my pajamas before I drank it so I could fall asleep after drinking the warm

contents of my cup.
