48 Sudden Mates

Silas's POV:

I watched as the girl pulled me away, putting up a light struggle. She'd lead me to Lyle and Uriah.... I could take them out in one go... not one large search battle. She yanked me down a flight of stairs into a dark basement and into another room. I saw Lyle tied up to a chair, Uriah bent over him as he was injecting him with something. I growled and let her shove me to the floor at Uriah's feet, looking up at him with a glare. "You've got me," I hissed. "What the hell do you want?" I'm going to get him. He doesn't know it yet... but I'm going to get him. He won't last long against me. There's a reason why I was the previous resistance leader and that's because I have no mercy when I'm angry. Lyle let out a pained scream as his body started to tremble from whatever was put in him. He looked miserable. Uriah laughed and then picked up an IV, hooking it up to a nearby stand as Rachel kept me firmly on the ground.

"Oh, don't worry. I'll tell you soon enough," he purred to me as he suck the IV into Lyle's arm, taping it down. I followed it quickly, getting a little worried then widened my eyes as I saw holy water- the smell tipping me off- starting to drip into the IV. Lyle.... Lyle looked scared as he looked towards the IV. I don't even think he's noticed me here yet. I snarled and exposed my fangs.

"Get. That. Away. From. My. Brother!" I hissed. He laughed and looked down at me.

"Why?"

"Its me you want! Let him go!" I snarled and earned another smack from Rachel, making me yelp as she dragged her claws across my cheek. I worked my jaw as pain lanced through it then looked at Uriah in anger.

"Let him up," Uriah purred in amusement. Rachel obeyed and let me stand, letting me go. I glared Uriah down then went for Lyle quickly, ripping the IV out before much could get into him. I kissed his cheek and then started for Uriah but found myself on the floor as Uriah tackled me to the ground and bit into my neck. He pulled back after ripping a chunk out and smirked as I shrieked in pain. "You're weak because you've chosen to protect others," he told me and laughed. "They're your weakness Silas. All that family talk of protecting each other and loving each other is going to get you killed. You have no back up. You have no one to help you, and you have a handicapped brother to try to protect. Why don't you just give up?" He purred, rubbing my cheek. I bit into his hand quickly, snapping his bones between my teeth as I didn't bother exposing my fangs. He shrieked and tried to get his hand back but I bit down harder and then kneed him between the legs and toppled us over with my weight. I raked my nails across his chest, tearing his shirt open. I could hear Lyle struggling in the chair to get free, he managed to rock the chair backwards and fall back with a heavy thud. I growled as I heard Rachel coming for me and plunged my hand into Uriah's chest, gripping his crystal as I spat his hand out. He trembled under me, his whole body shaking in pain and fear.

"Take one more step, and I'll crush him," I hissed, glaring towards her. "Untie my brother." She widened her eyes as she looked us over and then slowly nodded, looking afraid for his life. She walked over to Lyle and freed him silently, starting to cry in worry for her mate. Lye got to his feet quickly, hissing out in pain before he had her pinned against a wall.

"Sorry but not sorry," he told her as he bit down deep into her neck and started to drink her blood. She shrieked and started to fight back, trying to push him off her.

"P-please," she begged him. I watched and looked towards Uriah, ripping his crystal out anyways then pocketed it as his body disintegrated under me and got his blood all over me. Bastard... I'll torture him for centuries for this! I got to my feet and turned towards Lyle, watching him drinking from her. He started to drain her with no mercy, holding her firmly against the wall. She gasped and whimpered, gripping his arms as she cried. "Please," she begged again. "I didn't rip out your other fang! I could've but I didn't! Don't kill me," she pleaded. He let out a vicious growl as he didn't pull back and drained her completely. He pulled back and wiped off his face before reaching into his mouth and yanked out a fang, I could see his body tremble in pain as he pocketed it.

"You should've pulled them both out if you truly wanted to be on my side. A half a fang is worse." He turned towards me, his eyes a dark red- unusual for his normal red eyes. His body looked like it was trying to heal from whatever happened to him. I bit my bottom lip and walked up to him slowly.

"Lyle," I whispered, relief he was alive. I gently took his hand and purred happily, kissing his cheek. "You're going to be alright. We're staying with Rei," I mumbled to him. "Let's get you to safety." My brother will be fine.... He won't die. I'll watch over him. He looked me over before wrapped his arms around my neck and jumped up into my arms, resting his head against my shoulder.

"Take me out of here," he said tiredly. I laughed and nodded.

"Alright," I purred and carried him out of the room, taking care not to hurt him as I carried him up the stairs and to where I had left my friends. I stopped in front of Laurence then frowned. I need to find an antidote for them. I looked at Lyle and kissed his cheek. "Stay with Laurence. I'm going to go find the antidote for what she did to them," I whispered then sat him down next to Laurence's paralyzed body. Lyle curled up to Laurence, burring his face into his chest for comfort. I smiled and watched them then went to go find it.

After searching for awhile, I came across her poison room and found the antidote for her favorite one and then took it back to them, injecting Laurence first with it then Toru before I glanced towards Rei. Lyle won't need it. He's already fought it off somehow.... I walked over to Rei and sat down in front of him as I started to fill up another needle of it, tsking as I did my best to get the measurements right. Rei watched me and gave a relieved look. I could hear Laurence twitching his body to try to move. It should start working on them soon. I pulled Rei into my arms and then tilted his head back, deciding to get it in the artery on his neck that way it might work faster, slowly injecting him with it as I held him close.

"Don't forget Mauri," he whispered. I nodded.

"I won't," I whispered to him and then pulled the needle out. I smiled softly and then leaned him up against the wall and then went for his fledgling, helping her out before I got up and went to Lyle, picking him up. "I'll be back," I promised everyone. "I'm going to get Lyle situated then come back for you all." I started to carry Lyle out of the door and to the car, putting him in the front seat. Someone is going to have to sit in someone's lap.... Toru. We'll have him shift and have him rest in Laurence's lap as I drive us back.

"Silas I don't want to wait out here alone," he whispered. I paused and looked at him.

"You won't be out here for long," I promised him, kissing his cheek. "I'll be quick. Trust me. You can even hold Toru if you want. He's rather cute." He needs his fledgling when he gets back.

"Okay," he whispered and massaged his jaw. "Hurry back." I nodded and then ran back inside, grabbing Toru to give Lyle something to hold onto then walked back out, setting Toru in his lap.

"Toru, be a sweetie and shift for me," I purred. Toru looked towards me tiredly but obeyed, shifting into a white fox. He crawled out of his pretty black and red kimono then up Lyle's chest and into his arms. Lyle held onto him and rubbed his white fur, tugging at it a little. Toru licked his cheek and nuzzled his head against his body, liking the attention. I smiled softly and then walked back inside, picking up Laurence then took him and put him in the backseat then grabbed Mauri, put her in the middle, and then finally picked up Rei, carrying him carefully to the car. It felt right... holding him. I smiled softly as I sat him in the back behind the driver's seat. "There we go~"

"Sounds like Laurence choose one too many of us to come," Rei teased lightly. "Let's get to your family that are waiting for us." I nodded and then shut the door, getting in the driver's seat. We're safe... all of us... except from the sun. I started to drive us back quickly, speeding.

"Well, I didn't expect that girl to be waiting at the door..." Laurence admitted.

"Yeah," I whispered and tapped the steering wheel with my finger. "At least we're safe," I mumbled and glanced over at Lyle. Even if we're a little broken.

"Don't worry, when we get back we'll feed Lyle up and get his blood cleansed and he'll be fine." Laurence promised.

"What about emotionally and mentally?" I whispered worriedly, glancing at little Toru who was trying to cheer him up, licking his cheek and neck and playfully nipping at him.

"Well remember how Sylar was all babyish when he first got his fangs out. Lyle is just like that and he'll be like that for a little bit. Don't worry, he'll be fine. He's a tough pureblood." Laurence told me. Lyle snuggled up to Toru. I nodded. So it's a good thing I put Toru in his arms. Toru yipped happily and worked his way into a cozy nook in Lyle's arms, flicking his ears.

"He might need to borrow Toru till we find Milo," I whispered, looking back at the road then glanced at Lyle again. "We'll have to call Everest."

"We need to do it before dawn," Laurence told me. I nodded and then pulled out my phone, tossing it to Laurence.

"Call him and tell him to go to Rei's castle. We'll make the switch with Toru and Milo when we get there," I hummed out. "I doubt Toru minds. He looks really happy to be held and loved on." I sighed and then sped up some more, speeding over 100 mph. It didn't take me long to get back to the castle as I zoned out on the people in the car. I pulled up to the castle, seeing it had been somewhat saved. It was going to need some reconstruction though. I smiled and then got out, opening Rei's door for him since he was closest... and you know... he's hard to stay away from. Rei stepped out and looked towards the castle.

"I'll send some of my servants to come help yours reconstruct your castle," Rei told me. "Until it's safe to live in, you're all staying with me. I have enough rooms for it. Mauri can teleport us all to my home as well. Tell your servants and the wolves to start working on reconstruction and they'll have help soon. Mauri, start teleporting the family to my castle."

"Yes sir," Mauri said as she climbed out, stretching her tensed muscles. I blushed and gave Rei a grateful look.

"Thank you," I whispered to him then glanced towards where my servants were trying to pull out blankets and whatnot from the castle. I started for them quickly to give them instructions, keeping it brief but kind. I smiled at them as I watched them nod and look at the castle before the head servants started to give out orders to them. I stretched and then picked up a small stone from the castle, looking at it then placed it down by the door. I smiled and then walked over to where Lyle was standing with Toru. "How are you feeling?" I asked softly.

"I'm doing fine," he whispered softly. "I'm quite pissed though I lost my fangs."

"We'll have Aurelio do what he did for Sylar," I promised him then petted Toru's head as Lyle held him. "I'm sure he'd be glad to help you...." Sylar walked up to us and gave us a small frown.

"Are you okay?" he whispered and pulled Lyle into a hug. "How dare you go and get yourself kidnapped," he teased lightly. I frowned and yanked Sylar away from Lyle.

"Don't tease him about that! He got his fangs ripped out," I hissed quietly to Sylar then rubbed his shoulder.

"He'll be okay," Sylar said. "It's not like he done it willingly."

"I don't think that's any better," I purred softly and massaged Sylar's shoulder. I smirked slightly then kissed his cheek. "Where's Colsin? He should be here, protecting you."

"He went with Neal to help the pack pick up Lyle's scent. He should be coming back soon though," Sylar sighed. "We need to get everyone safely in doors before the day here."

"Don't worry, Rei is taking us to his castle." Laurence told him as he walked over. "Come on Sylar, you're next." I rubbed Sylar's shoulder then nudged him towards Laurence so that he could take him. I smiled softly then stood with Lyle, watching everyone. I found my eyes lingering on Rei across the yard and purred.

"Lyle... have you ever noticed how Rei sort of pulls you in and makes you want to be around him? I think it's pretty cool," I mumbled and smiled.

"Really?" Lyle purred in amusement. "Seems like you found your mate because I don't feel like that although he is a good friend." I frowned then. Mate? I blushed a deep shade of red and tore my eyes away from Rei to look at Lyle.

"M-mate? You mean... that's why he smells so good? It's just me?" Oh this is embarrassing. What if Rei knows and didn't tell me?!

"Rei is a vampire that doesn't breath," Lyle told me as he motioned for me to watch him closely. "So he wouldn't know unless you told him." I blushed and looked towards Rei. O-oh... he doesn't breath. I watched him closely, seeing he didn't.

"So... I should tell him then," I whispered. He'd probably know if he bit me.

"Do you want to?" Lyle asked me and smiled. "We're not werewolves. We don't have to mate with our mates." I bit my bottom lip. He has a point... but Rei still has a right to know.

"I'll... tell him... and I'll see how it goes," I mumbled. "He deserves to know at least this." I looked at Lyle then took a deep breath, walking over towards Rei to get it over with. I think I'll just ask him to smell me... and I'll see if he notices anything about my scent. If he doesn't then it's probably my imagination. I walked up to him and smiled. "Hey Rei," I purred. "Could you do me a huge favor? I think I smell something, but I'm not sure. Mind smelling the air for me?" He looked at me in confusion.

"What do you think you smell?" He asked. Oh... crap.

"A cat I think," I lied. "I really like them. If there's one around, I'd like to find it."

"A cat?" He asked and laughed. "You have wolves around, I don't think a cat would be brave enough to stick around here."

"But what if there is a cat?" I asked, trying to look innocent. "It must be terrified. Please?"

"A cat?" He asked again and then frowned. "Not sure I ever smelled one of them to be honest."

"Well... tell me if you smell anything," I suggested and gave him a kind smile. "Please? My brothers would make fun of me for trying to hunt down a cat right now... especially if there wasn't a cat. I know you wouldn't."

"How do you know I wouldn't?" He asked playfully. "You're very strange."

"Well... you just seem like someone who wouldn't," I mumbled and rubbed my neck. Darn it... he's not going to do it. I frowned and looked away from him. "It's... fine," I whispered and went to walk away.

"Oh come now, wait a minute and I'll see if I smell anything...." He decided and started to breath in the air, looking around a minute before his breath caught. I paused and looked towards him curiously. "Boy I don't know how you live around here with wolves.... That was the strongest scent of their species I ever caught," he chuckled. "I didn't smell a cat though.... but I did catch...." He started for me. "A luring scent."

"Luring?" I asked curiously, my crystal pulsing in hope. Why am I hoping?! I barely know him... except that we went and watched anime together and drank together and he has my back a lot and he's nice and sweet to me. He even fed me! Plus he's taking our family in too....

"Yeah, you smell really good." He told me and leaned in towards my neck, smelling me. I blushed and felt my pulse start to race, a small shiver running through me as my body practically screamed to pull him closer.

"I smell really good?" I asked softly, keeping back a small moan from his scent being so close to me and from feeling him near me like this.

"Yes," he told me and kissed my neck. I blushed and couldn't help it, moaning slightly. I wrapped my arms around his neck and purred.

"Then it's true," I whispered happily and then pulled him closer. "We're mates~" But does that mean he wants me? Do I want him? Those are the important questions. I blushed again and tightened my grip on him as I waited for his reaction. He might not like it and push me away.... He might be indifferent about it. I don't know which would be worse. He pulled back and looked me in the eyes.

"Well this changes everything, you're staying in my castle for now on." He gave a huge smile. I blushed and then smiled. He wants me. I purred happily and kissed his cheek.

"I don't know if I can stay in your castle forever because I'm king here... but I'll stay as long as I can when I come over, and you'll have to come over as well," I suggested and laughed. "Unless Lyle wants his throne back," I purred playfully.

"Well he better take it because you're staying with me," he jabbed a finger into my chest. "I've been waiting for someone to bare my children." I widened my eyes then. Bare his children? Is he being serious or is he messing with me? I bit my bottom lip nervously. He pulled my body closer. "You're going to give me children, aren't you?" He asked. "Don't say no." I blushed. He's serious. He wants me to become a female and give him kids.

"W-well..." I hid my face into his neck then nodded. He's my mate... and if we're going to be together, I don't see why not. "Okay," I mumbled, pulling him closer to me. "If you want them...."

"Great, we'll have your servants moved as well and we'll have to get married before I make you a girl. Where do you want to be married? On a beach? Lake? Ocean? Space?" We're already talking about that too? I pulled away from his neck to look at him and blushed.

"W-well... I never really thought about getting married to someone before.... Don't you want to date first?" I asked him softly. "Or are you talking about getting married later?"

"We're mates, it doesn't matter about dating Silas. We're together far more than you think. We're each other's half. I'm going to take care of you and your family now." I blushed and melted against him happily, purring.

"Okay," I said sweetly. "That makes sense. We can get married.... I think I want to get married by the ocean. It sounds nice...."

"So on a beach? You want to honeymoon on an island?" He teased me. "I want fifteen kids."

"Fifteen?!" I widened my eyes. "That better be over at least a century."

"Back to back, step ladder style." He winked at me. "You're going to love the next sixteen years." I yelped and then blushed, pulling back a little. Sixteen years?!

"Isn't that a lot in less than two decades?" I laughed nervously.

"You'll never notice once the older kids can take care of the younger ones." He wrapped me up in his arms. "You're perfect too for a mate." I blushed.

"I would hope so," I mumbled and then sighed, trying to relax a little in his arms. Fifteen kids in sixteen years? I didn't peg him for a person who'd want so many... but I guess I was wrong about that. I didn't even think about kids this much before I walked over here and he told me he wanted them. I gently kissed his cheek then glanced towards Lyle. He's going to tease me. He rocked me in his arms as Lyle watched me with a huge smile. I blushed and then looked towards Rei with a small purr. Oh well, it'll be will be fine. I laughed and then kissed his neck playfully, wondering if he'd like it. Laurence walked up and handed me my phone back.

"Everest is on his way to Rei's castle with Milo. We better get going. We're the last ones here, just us four and Mauri," he looked towards Lyle. I nodded and then grabbed Rei's hand as I slipped my phone into my pocket and started to pull him over towards Lyle with Laurence.

"Good, we can get Toru back for you when he has Milo," I mumbled.

"Yeah and Toru," he whispered and then gave a smile. "So you two know you're mates now?" He asked. I nodded and looked at him.

"Yeah," I whispered then frowned. I should ask if I really have fifteen kids... but probably not in front of Rei. I walked up to Lyle and then smiled. "I need to ask you something when we're not scrambling to get out of the daylight," I told him.

"No, he doesn't really." Laurence told me. "Alright, are we ready? I want to get going." He watching Mauri take Lyle and Toru off and come back for us. "Let's hold hands." I frowned and glanced at Laurence but grabbed his hand.

"What was that supposed to mean?" I asked him softly. Does he want me to stay king? Or was it that Rei was really kidding and I should watch out. I glanced at Rei and Laurence suspiciously as we were teleported back rather quickly.

"Don't ask so many questions," Laurence warned me. "It'll hurt my head." I felt the sun up instantly as we stood in the night room. "I'm going to rest my fledgling eyes." I nodded.

"Alright Laurence," I whispered and smiled. I could hear Milo's happy laughs nearby, probably tackling Lyle. I laughed and then shook my head. "Go get Toru before you go to bed, okay?" I told him then turned to Rei. I paused and then gave him a soft smile. "Well... I should probably head to bed too," I told him and smiled. "I'll see you tonight." I kissed his cheek then pulled away. I think I remember how to get back to the room I was staying in. He smirked and pulled me back.

"Together?" He asked. I blushed then. Bed together? I looked at him in consideration then smirked teasingly.

"I don't know," I teased him. "Maybe I shouldn't let you see my pajamas yet." I laughed.

"I'll let you see my butt naked just to see you in boxers," he told me and smirked. I laughed and looked him in the eyes.

"That better be a cute butt," I teased him.

"You'll enjoy my butt," he told me and pulled me closer. "You'll enjoy our bed more." I blushed and looked at him, considering it before I nodded.

"Okay," I purred. "I'll stay in your room tonight then."

"It's on the top level and you meant to say morning-evening- day sweetie. You sleep during the day and you're up at night." He lead me towards the elevator. I blushed. Well... he's got a point but flipping from day to night to day is kind of frazzling.

"Sorry," I mumbled. "I've been in day to night to day again," I told him and smiled softly as I held onto his hand. "It's confusing to be doing that when you're not used to it." I laughed and then kissed his cheek.

"Teleporters do it all the time," he purred. He pulled me into the elevator and hit the top level. I watched him and then let his hand go, moving to the edge of the elevator to hold onto the railing. He watched me and laughed. "Scared?" I laughed at him.

"I just like holding the railing in elevators," I hummed out. The feeling of the elevator going up while gravity is pulling you down kinda always throws me off, so the railing is nice. I purred at him. "Why? Wish I was holding you?" I teased.

"Yeah, come hold your mate." He purred before the elevator opened up to a giant suite. He stepped off and into it, glancing around. He had windows on this floor that were covered by blinds and dark curtains. There was a huge sitting pit in the middle of the floor with a TV near it that could go down into the floor. There was a huge bed, towers full of books around the room along with CDS and movies. There was a closet door and bathroom door off of the suite. He started for his bed, humming happily. I followed him out of the elevator and looked around curiously before I watched him, hovering by the sitting pit as I studied him. He's definitely a modernizing vampire.... He looked back towards me. "Come lay down." I purred softly and nodded, walking over to him then looked the bed over as I did my best to guess which side he liked then picked the one I thought he didn't normally sleep on. I sat down on it and pulled my shoes off, setting them under the bed as I hummed a little under my breath. He crawled into the bed and curled up on it, looking towards me. I glanced at him and then purred slightly crawling over and then took my shirt off and tossed it off the bed before I laid down.

"I hope you don't mind," I teased him as I kicked my socks off and nudged them off the bed with my feet.

"Why would I?" He asked and slipped out of his kimono to where he was now in his boxers. He pulled me closer to him and kissed my cheek. I smiled and then kissed his neck playfully then curled my body up to his, wrapping my arms around him. It feels so good to be with him like this. I leaned my head against his chest and purred loudly. It's going to be weird to say I'm married. He leaned in towards my neck and bit down into me, his venom entering me quickly as he let out a moan. I yelped and then moaned, leaning my head back as my body trembled in pleasure from it. I instinctively pulled him closer, moving on top of him as I let him drink from me and closed my eyes in happiness. He marked me~ He pulled back and ran his fingers through my hair. "Get some sleep," he purred. I looked at him and then kissed his cheek.

"Mhmm," I hummed happily and then closed my eyes as I stayed on him, purring myself to sleep.

I woke up as the sun went down, my body forcing me awake. I groaned and stirred then tensed up as I felt something warm under me.... I glanced down at it and then yelped, sitting up. Rei? I looked around quickly then widened my eyes when I saw I was in his room. When did I- Oh... oh yeah.... I laughed a little then looked down at Rei before I slipped off him and off the bed. Maybe I should go find my things and get changed.... A shower would be nice, or the hotsprings. Which one shall I pick? I hummed softly as I went around the bed, grabbing my shoes, socks and shirt before I started to sneak over to the door.

"Where are you going?" He asked me, his eyes opening as he looked towards me. "Come back to bed." I paused and then felt my crystal pulse as I glanced over at him. Back to bed? The sun went down.... I glanced at the dark windows and sighed softly, walking back over. I can find it later.... I set my things back down on the floor then crawled onto the bed on my knees, looking at him.

"Goodnight Rei," I purred to him softly, watching him. He looked me over before reaching over to a remote and clicked a button, the windows and curtains opened up on the windows.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked. I nodded and then sat criss cross on his bed.

"Uh huh," I hummed. "It was some of the best sleep I've had in awhile." No worries about work because all of it went up in flames so I can tell the council that happened. I won't have to worry about much for awhile.... He smiled as he sat up and leaned against the headboard.

"That's good, I'm glad." He gave me a sweet look. I smiled and crawled up to him, gently taking his hand in mine and rubbing it with my thumb.

"So what do you want to do tonight? I don't know if you have any business to attend to or not," I murmured softly as I kept his hand. "I would hate to intrude and ruin any routines of yours."

"No, it's fine. I do a lot of nothing." He purred. I laughed then and kissed his cheek.

"Then... I was wondering about the hot springs," I whispered. "I was thinking about checking them out if you want to come with me," I suggested, leaning my face into his neck.

"You want me to go with you?" He asked.

"Well... you can go with me or I'll go myself," I purred and pulled away from him. "After all, I probably shouldn't let you see me." I smirked at him playfully. "So yeah, I'm going myself," I teased him and let his hand go.

"If that's what you want," he looked me over. "I'm going to have to see you eventually." I laughed at him and kissed his cheek.

"I don't mind if you see me," I mumbled to him. "I'm not that shy. You can come with if you want. I was teasing you is all." I tapped his nose and smiled.

"I think I'll take a shower," he told me and got out of bed. "Go have your fun." I frowned slightly at him. Well then. I got to my feet and got my shoes, socks, and shirt again. Fine... my mate can turn it down if he wants. I don't need him to take a bath. I shouldn't be so reliant on him anyways. I growled a little as I stalked over towards the elevator and then got in it, having the door shut quickly as I looked the buttons over. I'm sleeping in my own room when dawn comes. I tapped the button that would take me to the floor where my bags were from earlier then went down to my room and looked everything over, seeing my bags had been placed back on my bed instead of being left in the hallway. I grabbed a set of clothes and then a towel before I headed down to the hot springs to enjoy myself.

I walked around the manor, exploring a bit until I found the kitchen. I glanced around and then walked up to one of his servants that was in here. "Can I have a bottle of blood?" I asked her softly, fidgeting. I had started to get hungry... so this is good that I found it. She nodded and got me one out of the fridge.

"Here you go sir," she told me. I smiled and took it from her.

"Thank you," I purred happily and opened it, starting to drink it. I walked out of the kitchen and glanced around curiously then pulled my phone out. What to do... what to do.... I smirked and then pulled up things to do in Tokyo, laughing a little. I could go explore for a night~ I glanced around and then started to head for the garage, knowing the car I rented was still there.
