50 Finding the Best Man

Continuation of Emile's POV:

After a few hours, I heard a small knock at the door. "Hey, it's me Silas," I heard the guy who hired me call. "I wanted to ask you if there were any particulars you wanted for your bedroom in the Rosario castle." I looked towards the door before slipping out of bed and going towards it, opening it up.

"No, anything will do." I told him. "Have the maids come up with something for me." He nodded and smiled.

"I'll tell them you said that," he said and then put his hands into his pockets. "I think they'll like being able to make a room the way they see fit, not how we tell them. It'll be fun for them." I nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I think it'll be fun for them." I said and slipped past him and started down the hall to go find the kitchen and fix myself more to eat. Silas watched me and then followed me curiously.

"So you're really a grim reaper?" He asked with interest.

"Oh yeah!" I told him and looked at him. "I got kicked out though and stole these from a reaper," I pointed to the glasses. "Without these all reapers can't see." He looked at them with interest.

"Really?" He asked and then laughed. "So like Black Butler?"

"Yeah," I told him and looked at him. "Very much like Black Butler, except we actually have scythes and blades instead of lawn mowers and other outside equipment for a lawn." He laughed and then smiled hugely.

"That's so cool! I've never met an actual reaper before~" He bounced up to me and looked excited. "Why'd you get kicked out?"

"I killed another reaper," I told him and shrugged. "He got in my way."

"How'd he do that?"

"He stole a few of the souls I was harvesting and so I cut him in half as pay back." He widened his eyes.

"Whoa... that's pretty... wow," he whispered in amazement. "So do you get orders to kill people and take their souls or are you turned loose to take the souls you want?"

"Why would we have a system of who to kill? That's silly. It's free range just as long as you don't kill another reaper you'll be fine and you meet your soul quota." He nodded.

"So... it's not like Black Butler but kinda like Black Butler at the same time," he whispered. "They have a to die list."

"Well we have a quota," I told him. "It's a number we get at the beginning of the year. Some reapers get easy quota while others get hard quotas that take all year to fill. I got a hard one and a little jack ass took a whole plane full of souls that I was going to get to fill my quota. Oh I was pissed." I snarled. "I hate reapers." I walked into the kitchen and started to ravage through it. "Now that I'm fired, I don't get a quota and I'm not even allowed to have these glasses or a death scythe.... but guess who has two out of those three?" I asked him. He watched me and then sat on the counter, laughing a little.

"So... having you around would be a good idea then.... You could help keep my family safe," he said happily as he watched me. "You're fun too."

"Oh yeah, I'm a great person to keep around." I told him and found a plate of sushi in the fridge. I pulled it out and started to eat it. He smiled and then rubbed his neck.

"I hope my family treats you right then. You'll have to come to me or my brother for anything you need," he told me and then looked around.

"I will," I told him and moaned as I took a bite of the sushi. "Man I love Japan. I was right to come here." He looked at the sushi curiously.

"I wonder if Rei made it," he mumbled. Rei walked in then with a smile.

"There you are~" Rei said and looked at me. "Are you enjoying my sushi?" He asked and then looked at Silas. "So do you want a white suit for the wedding or a black one?" Silas blushed as he looked towards Rei.

"Black," he whispered and then jumped down from the counter quickly.

"Great! I'll need your measurements for my tailor." He purred and then left us quickly. "HE SAID HE WANTED BLACK!" Silas frowned.

"I can get my own tux!" He called out after Rei then smirked. "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE IT SO YOUR TAILOR CAN'T MAKE IT! MINE WILL!"

"TOO LATE!" Rei yelled.

"You're getting married?" I asked. Silas blushed then looked at me.

"Apparently," he whispered. "That was my possible fiancé who is apparently my fiancé. He's my mate."

"Yeah?" I asked and laughed. "Could be worse," I told him and rubbed my chest.

"Be worse?" He asked softly. "He's actually really nice. He makes great sushi too... and he could've chosen to not even marry me but he wants to."

"Yeah, you've got a great mate. I wish I could get a chief like him," I purred and ate another bite of sushi. He laughed and walked up, stealing one and then ate it. He moaned softly in happiness and then purred as he swallowed it.

"I should go make sure that he's not planning my tux out without me.... He might've picked the design already~" He looked towards the door and then started for it.

Silas's POV:

I chased after Rei quickly, running up and grabbing his hand. Oh man... please tell me he didn't plan out the tux design without me! What if it's weird? He looked towards me and frowned. "What?" He asked. I blushed and looked up at him.

"Did you already pick out the design?" I asked him softly.

"Yes," he told me. "I'm the man, now go play while I plan our wedding." I frowned a little at him and then exposed my fangs playfully.

"We're both men," I pointed out. "Even if you're going to turn me into a girl, I can still help you plan," I purred then wrapped my arms around his neck. I smirked and then kissed his cheek. "You shouldn't have to do it all by yourself~" Oh I need to pick my best man for the wedding too.... Let's see.... There's Sylar- probably not.... There's Laurence and Charles- but picking either one of them would start a fight between the two of them. There's Lyle, he's pretty safe and he's done a lot for me, and he's my big brother. He also helped me come to the realization of my mate. Those would all be my top picks... but I guess I'll ask Lyle. If I asked Sylar, he's already probably going to be upset about me getting married in the first place. I did after all give him to his mate instead of remarking him... and now I'm choosing to get married instead of being his big brother he wants. I haven't really talked to him about the wedding either.... He's probably upset.

"No thanks sweetie, just go relax and let me do all of the work. I don't want you stressing before you start carrying my children." I frowned and looked at him.

"I'm a king. I already stress everyday," I pointed out to him and then pulled him a little closer.

"Well I don't want your help," he told me calmly. "Your only job is to come up with vows."

"I get to pick my best man though, right?" I asked and frowned. He doesn't want my help at all?

"You can pick your best man," he purred. "That's all. I'm taking care of everything." I sighed and then looked him over before I leaned in and bit into his neck, feeling slightly hungry. Who knows when I'm going to catch him again and be able to hold him while he's not trying to tell someone what kind of flowers he wants? He exposed his neck more for me, letting out a pleased purr. I blushed and closed my eyes, leaning into the bite more as I started to drink from him. He lets me.... He doesn't scream and freak out like everyone else used to.... I can bite without asking from him if he's not mad.... I purred happily and laughed before I leaned in and bit my fangs back into him, marking him. He really must be my other half~! He leaned against me and let out a small moan, almost holding it in. I purred softly to him and curled his hair around my finger, lightly tugging on it in joy. I pulled my fangs out and licked his neck before I kissed his cheek. He gave me a cute smile.

"Good mate," he teased and kissed my cheek. I blushed and pulled back a little more to watch him.

"I'm not a dog," I whispered then smiled, rubbing his cheek. "You don't have to praise me like one."

"Well I thought it would make you happy," he purred and kissed me softly on my lips. He went down the hall quickly, humming. I widened my eyes and touched my lips as I watched him walking away. He kissed me.... I bit my bottom lip and held back a small laugh then turned away. I should go tell Lyle that he's my best man! I ran towards the elevators, holding back another laugh from the kiss.

I knocked softly on Lyle's door, smiling hugely as I did my best to stay calm and not burst into his room. "Lyle~" I called and laughed.

"It's okay, you can come in Silas." I could hear Lyle on the other side of the door watching a movie with Milo. I walked in quickly and shut the door behind me, rushing up to Lyle then snatched his hand, looking him in the eyes.

"Be my best man?" I asked quickly, knowing he wouldn't tell me no. He wouldn't.... I mean to much to him.

"Well I already assumed I would be," Lyle teased and gave me a loving look. I purred and leaned in, kissing his cheek.

"We should have a small party on the night before the wedding, just the Rosarios and their fledglings," I whispered to him then sat down in his lap. He wrapped his arms around me.

"You want a bachelor party too? Boy you're just really asking for a lot aren't you?" He teased me and grabbed my sides. "So when will I start calling you my sister?" I blushed then.

"I dunno...." I mumbled and rubbed my cheek. "He wants fifteen kids... and I think he's planning on taking my crystal right after the wedding. Is it going to hurt?" I asked him softly, looking at him worriedly. "Being changed into a girl? I know it hurt dying... having my crystal ripped out," I whispered, my eyes traveling over to Milo who gave me a smile then purred as he looked back at the TV. "And I'm not sure I like the idea of being a girl. I don't know much about being a girl either.... What if he wants me to be a permanent girl?" I bit my bottom lip then. "They have periods, and that's kinda gross. I've heard that they go through a lot of pain when they're on them and that you bleed. I don't want that. I'd rather be a boy- without periods." I looked at him and wrapped my arms around his neck. "I think he's going to take my crystal at the wedding," I mumbled worriedly. I did promise him kids, but it means a lot to become a girl when you've never been one.

"Well I wouldn't know brother, I've never had a crystal removal incident." He gave my cheek a kiss. "You'd have to go to Everest and ask him as well as trade pregnancy secrets." I bit my bottom lip then nodded before I laid my head against his chest.

"Make sure Rei doesn't do anything to my crystal when he takes it besides putting me into a female body," I whispered to him. "I don't want him to do something to me when I can't run... not that I think he would... but just in case."

"Okay.... so are you going to tell Sylar?" Lyle asked.

"That I picked you as my best man... or that I'm getting married?" I mumbled. I don't know if I've told him about me getting married, but I know he's heard probably.

"That you picked me as the best man," Lyle whispered. "After all he looks up to you the most in admiration. He brought you back from death and sacrificed his fangs." I bit my bottom lip and shrunk against him.

"Do you think I should be making him best man?" I asked softly, knowing Sylar was going to be upset- big time.

"I think you need to talk with him alone together over your decision."

"I think I'll just have two best men," I decided. "Rei can complain about it, but I think you both deserve it."

"You can't have two best men at your wedding, you can only have one. Pick one of us or none of us. Did you even ask if he had a best man picked out?"

"Rei said I could pick my best man," I told him and then looked up at him. I smiled then, getting an idea. I need someone to walk me down the aisle. "How about this, you walk me down the aisle and I will have Sylar be best man? They're both honored positions... and I couldn't think of anyone else giving me away to my mate. You're my older brother... and you've taken care of the family for so long. You were there when... our parents died," I mumbled and then looked up into his eyes. "So give me away to him...." Lyle gave me a delighted look then.

"Of course," he promised. "I'll give you away in father's place. It would be an honor." He hugged me tightly then. "Go tell Sylar the good news." I nodded and kissed his cheek before I got to my feet and smiled.

"It might cheer him up a little," I purred and then walked out of the room quickly, going down to Sylar's room. I knocked on it lightly and bit my bottom lip, starting to get a little worried that he was really mad. Well... he's got a mate. He should be happy with his mate, and he'll be happy in the long run, right? He was losing interest in me anyways. I shouldn't be extremely worried about him being pissed. He opened the door slowly and looked me over before pulling me into a hug.

"Silas~" Sylar purred. I smiled and hugged him.

"Hi," I purred back then kissed the top of his head in a brotherly way. "I have something to tell you." He purred and pulled me into his room, shutting the door.

"You're sleeping with me today?" He asked sweetly.

"No, I'm making you the best man at my wedding," I purred and smiled at him. I rubbed his head then glanced around his room, seeing Colsin was gone. He's probably exploring the sights. Sylar frowned and looked me over.

"What? Your wedding? You're really gonna get married? You don't have an engagement ring though and I thought you loved me..." He trailed off and gave me a hurt look. "Silas," he whispered. "You're not going to sleep with me either?" I bit my bottom lip and then rubbed my neck.

"W-well... I..." I shouldn't sleep with him.... Rei might get upset... and I don't want Sylar to think he can keep me all to himself like he was doing when I was brought back. I know what he's done for me, but he has a mate, and I have a mate. "Sylar, you have a mate, and I have a mate," I told him and then looked at him. "You need to start caring about your mate." I gave him a smile then hugged him. "Colsin is a sweet werewolf. He loves you too, and he deserves at least some form of love from you. He has probably been looking forward to finding you all his life."

"I do give him love Silas, but he's not going to live forever. How come you can't tell him no?" He asked me and grabbed my shirt. "It's not fair, he's going to live longer than my mate." I smiled and ran my fingers through his hair.

"Yeah, he probably will live longer than your mate... but when he dies, there's nothing stopping you from finding someone to spend your eternity with. You could make a fledgling to love.... You could fall in love with someone at our parties and our balls like Charles did. There's lots of possibilities out there for you Sylar. I'm sure plenty of people would be your friend and some would even want to be your lover if that's what you're worried about. I'll always be your brother though," I promised him.

"That's not fair though Silas. You didn't ask me for permission.... He didn't ask me either! You're mine. I told you when I brought you back that you were mine. He can't marry you when he just met you. No, I don't approve of this." He shook his head. "You can't love him that quickly." I bit my bottom lip and then pulled away from him.

"Sylar," I whispered, watching him worriedly. "He's my mate, my other half. I can't help that I'm pulled to him," I told him. "He doesn't want to do the dating thing because he believes that we don't need it because we're supposed to complete each other. I know I just met him. Look, spend some time with Rei, and you'll see he's not that bad."

"He's bad though, he forgot to ask your brothers for permission to marry you. Especially ask me. You can't marry him Silas, tell him no." I frowned.

"Sylar... can't you settle with being my best man at the wedding? I picked you over my own fledglings."

"No," he grumbled. "I'm not going to settle with that. You don't see me marrying Colsin."

"Yeah, I don't," I mumbled, watching him. "Maybe you should. He might like that. You should be happy with him while you can be."

"Well what happens when he dies and you're still tied to that vampire?" He asked me and sniffled. I frowned a little. He's about to cry.... I quickly pulled him back into my arms and purred comfortingly to him.

"You'll mourn... and then you'll find someone," I told him softly and kissed the top of his head. "You'll always have me though as your brother, that I can promise you. We'll always be brothers, and I'll never forget what you did for me. You were the only one that stuck by my side... the only one who loved me enough to bring me back from the dead like that when I had done so much wrong to the family," I mumbled and ran my fingers through his hair. He sniffled and looked into my eyes.

"I thought you loved me though Silas... You're supposed to be mine. You are mine. I brought you back, remember?" I nodded and then kissed the top of his head again.

"Yeah, how could I ever forget it?" I whispered to him. "Tell you what, Rei will ask you for permission if you're that upset he didn't ask. I promise he will. He'll be a good vampire and ask you for me." I rubbed his head and gave him a sweet smile. "Will that make you happy? I don't want you to cry...."

"I don't want you to get married to him though..." He looked into my eyes with a heartbroken look. "I'm not ready for that. How could you be? Why're you so cruel to me?" I frowned.

"Cruel? I'm not cruel. I want you to be happy, and you'll be happier when you've moved on from me," I told him. "If I was to tell him no and you were to get away from Colsin, you would end up sneaking around, and I don't want you to be doing that. I want you to be happy," I told him. "You'll be happy with Colsin when you give him the chance, and I'm giving Rei a chance. You'll be my best man at my wedding or I'll pick someone else if you're going to be so upset about this," I warned him. "Trust me, you will be happy in the end. It's better this way, and I want to marry Rei. He makes me happy... and if I don't, I'm going to be stuck watching you and Colsin, and I don't want to ruin that for you, and I don't want to be stuck always being behind my desk and watching my brothers run off with their happy endings. Let me have mine," I mumbled, rubbing his cheek. "You'll always have me as your brother, and I'll never forget you."

"How come you think I'd be miserable?" He asked softly and frowned. "I love you Silas and it's not fair you're shunning me."

"I'm not shunning you! I picked you to be my best man- one of the highest places of honor!" I told him and frowned, grabbing his shoulders. "Why can't you see that? I'm not shunning you... and I'm trying to do this the best way I can for you! I could have chosen to tell Rei that I wanted a private wedding with just me and him, but I want you there Sylar. I want everyone I love there. I want you to be happy with Colsin, that's why I didn't remark you, and that's why I'm going to get married to Rei. I want to be with him. He makes me happy when I'm with him, and he lets me drink from him without asking. He's affectionate too," I told him and then pulled him into a hug. "Sylar, what am I going to do with you? I just want everyone to be happy.... I want you to be with who fate intended you to be with. Fate put you with Colsin for a reason. He could make you so happy, so very, very happy, and you still are after me...." I sighed softly and then rubbed his back before I pulled away. "You'll be the best man at my wedding, and that's final," I told him and then started for the door.

"But Silas," he whined and grabbed my wrist. "Colsin won't live forever...." He trailed off and pulled me back to him. I frowned.

"Then I will start talking to Aurelio for you, and we'll see if there is a way to make Colsin human so you can turn him," I suggested. Seems I'm going to need to make Colsin immortal. He gave my hand a hard squeeze.

"I didn't ask for that! That's not what I'm saying. You're mine and I won't give you up."

"You're going to have to," I told him, doing my best to not wince at him squeezing my hand.

"No I won't. You might have given me up but I refuse to let you go so easily." I frowned and went to pull away, not liking where he was going.

"Sylar," I mumbled.

"You heard me," he told me firmly. "You're not marrying him."

"Yes I am!" I told him and then frowned, ripping my wrist away from him. "I'm going to marry Rei!"

"I won't allow it," he told me. "You're mine and he can't steal you from me." I took a deep breath and watched him.

"Sylar, you can't keep me from marrying him," I told him then started for the door again. I felt him pin me against the door.

"Yes I can because I own you, remember? You're my brother, I brought you back from death, and I can decide who you'll be with and it's not going to be with Rei." I yelped and then squirmed.

"Let me go," I told him quickly. "You don't own me anymore. You brought me back from the dead, and I will be in your debt for it, but you can't own me."

"Well if you want to pay off your debt, don't marry him." I frowned at him then kissed his cheek.

"Let me go," I whispered to him, trying to take a softer approach so I could get away from him.

"No," he mumbled and wrapped his arms around me. "I'll never let you go."

"Sylar, you have to," I mumbled back to him, stopping my squirming. "Please," I begged. "You need to let me do this."

"Why?" He asked and frowned. "So you can forget about me?"

"I won't forget you. I swear I won't forget you. I might even make you the godfather of my children when I have them," I told him and hugged him. "Please... you're my brother. You should want me to be happy too."

"Children too?" He asked me and frowned. "You can't have children with him as well! Who does he think he is?"

"He's a king, and we both need heirs to our thrones," I told him and then ran my fingers through his hair, leaning my head back against the door. "He wants fifteen of them."

"FIFTEEN!?" He growled with distaste. "You two can't have children together Silas, besides! Your first born would be heir to both thrones and he can't be two kings in one. You better call off the wedding! You're mine. Tell him to find someone else to give him heirs because it won't be you." He exposed his fangs. I widened my eyes as I saw him exposing his fangs at me. I yelped and pushed him away, darting out of the room quickly and slamming the door between us to keep him away. Crap! He opened the door and started for me. "Silas! You tell that ass hole you're not giving him children! That's all he wants from you! Can't you see? He just wants a heir! We need to go home!" I trembled as I watched him and backed up slowly.

"S-Sylar...." I whispered, my crystal pulsing in pain. I felt my knees give out and I fell to the floor, curling up into a ball. "He doesn't just want me for kids," I whimpered as my eyes started to sting and tear up. He can't just want me for kids. He's marrying me. He wants to be my mate and love me too, right? This isn't just for children.... Rei wouldn't do that, would he? Marry me just for kids? He just wants to love me and have children because he's a family person. He's not using me.... He can't be... but what if Sylar is right? What if he is using me?

"Let's go home," Sylar begged. "You shouldn't be here." I started to cry then and looked at him.

"Sylar, he's not using me," I whispered, but at this point, it felt more like I was saying it to reassure myself. I didn't know anymore....

"Oh yes he is! He's using you and when he's done he'll dump you and take your throne with him." Sylar hissed. I curled up into a tighter ball as I trembled and then squeezed my eyes shut.

"No, he wouldn't," I whimpered. He wanted me to give my throne back to Lyle.... He wouldn't be able to take it if I did that... but I decided not to.... He wouldn't....

"Sylar," I heard Laurence hiss. "Stop hurting your brother. He's in love now leave him alone and quit making him question his lover!" Laurence walked up and scooped me up into his arms. "You've done enough damage, now stop it before I personally banish you from our household."

"You can't banish me!" Sylar hissed.

"I'm his fledgling, try me." Laurence exposed his fangs and started to carry me down the hall.

"Silas!" Sylar screamed with anger. I whimpered and curled up to Laurence, wrapping my arms around his neck as I buried my face into him.

"Laurence, he wouldn't really use me, would he?" I whispered, my voice barely coming out.

"No, don't pay him any attention," Laurence whispered lovingly to me. "He's a good mate and you two will have a wonderful life together." I nodded and started to relax a little at Laurence's words.

"Okay," I mumbled and sniffled. "He's going to be a good mate...." I looked up at Laurence then. "Will Sylar calm down? I don't want him to not be my best man... but... he's so upset."

"How about you sleep with me and Toru tonight?" He asked as he looked down at me. I watched him then nodded.

"Okay," I mumbled. "I will...." Laurence is such a sweet fledgling.... I purred happily and then kissed his cheek. "I'm so lucky I have you and Charles...."

"You're going to have powerful children too," he told me kindly. "They're going to be the start of something new." Something new? I bit my bottom lip and then nodded.

"That powerful?" I whispered. I purred softly and leaned my head against him. "They'll be sweet too. I'll love them all."
