85 Farewell

Sylar's POV:

Tapping my finger against the clear glass I was holding, I could smell the Brandy rolling off my breath. The glass had been emptied by a swallow from me. "Would you be so kind," I spoke up to a butler standing near me with the actual bottle the beverage came from. He rushed to me quickly with a look of sorrow for my loss. He poured more this time into my glass before stepping off to the side. I glanced down at my watch, impatiently waiting the hour. The wolves had to burry my mate without me because of daybreak. Now I was standing in the nightroom, waiting for the last hour of day to die out. I should have been able to help them bury him but they wanted it done as quick as possible... something about their moon goddess being disappointed if they didn't get the job done.

"Is there something else I can get you?" He asked me. "Blood perhaps?"

"No... but you may leave me. Leave the bottle."

"I don't think you should be alone in this sort of time, with all due respect. Please allow me to stay with you."

"Fine," I sighed out.

"You should have something better to do for the hour you have left. Let's play a card game. It'll take your mind off, ease your suffering, and make the time flow by. When the game is over, the sun will be down," he promised and walked up to a cabinet. He pulled out a deck of cards, walked over to the coffee table, and laid the brandy bottle down ontop of it. He knelt down in the floor before beginning to shuffle the deck of cards. He motioned for me to sit on the couch in front of him. I obeyed for some reason, finding myself doing it. I could see his cards from the TV behind him. It was reflecting. If I was a cheater, this would be to my advantage and I could win easily. But I liked a challenge. I took my eyes off the reflection of the cards as I took a swig from my glass. I was glad. He was here with me. I needed someone besides my own voice to talk to. I couldn't talk to my other selves.... This was a time of need where I wanted anyone with me.

"I'm glad you're here," I whispered. His face lit up and he gave me a heart warming smile before sorting the deck out between us. I felt tears welling up and a lump forming in my throat as the memory of Colsin played out in my head. I could have said so many things to him in his last moment. I should have told him I loved him.

"You know... I'm glad too.... Not only is this getting me out of choirs but I get to make sure on of my masters is being taken care of. You should try getting some sleep tonight. You haven't slept much today but I don't blame you... You had a very rough couple of days. We had a servant leave to go fetch your things from Kingsley's castle. We'll clean your room when you're ready for it-"

"You can clean it now. I don't want his scent to linger. I need to get over him as fast as I can. I don't want him to break me. I won't let anyone break me again. I won't let it happen. Please clean my room and make sure to get rid of anything in it that's not mine." He reached out and rubbed my cheek.

"Sylar it's not breaking you. It's called mourning. It's perfectly normal to cling to his things."

"I don't want to," I whispered. "I can't have him back. He's gone."

"His stuff is all you have left. You should cherish it instead of throwing it away." I frowned as I looked him over. Humans. What do they know about mourning? He picked up his sorted cards and motioned for me to do the same. "Come now, let's focus on the game at hand." I frowned before picking up my cards and started to sort them by power to number.

The game rolled out and I finished off the brandy bottle in the process. The effects of the alcohol was wearing off by the time dusk approached and I was starting to feel numb. What have I done? What have I said while I drunk the brandy? The butler left me alone when he was called away on duty. I felt empty. My crystal pulsed with fear. I'm all alone. I don't have anybody like I used to. Silas doesn't love me anymore. He's what I counted on for when this finally happened. HE chose Rei over me. That shows how much I mattered to him in the end. I brought him back from the dead! He's my brother. He promised to always be mine.

Colsin is dead. My soul mate died on me! I didn't love him enough so the gods cursed me. I was just getting over Silas. I was going to forget him for good. I was so close. This just isn't fair. I was too stupid to notice my last chance to tell him I loved him. He's probably talking to the moon goddess right now and telling her how disappointed he is to have had me as a mate. I never made him happy enough. He probably couldn't stand me. He was probably with me because in the pack it would have been looked down upon if he had rejected me. Should I have rejected him? He would have been alive still. I couldn't help it. I was mourning over Silas.

It's not like I could move on so quickly. I'm not a werewolf whose devoted to one person and one person only and if they're not devoted then they're not worthy- or however werewolves go about it. No. I love Silas. It was just terrible timing. He found his soul mate and I found mine. Silas didn't want to disturb fate's path and I was too young to understand my feelings.

Colsin was so stupid jumping in front of me. What if he did it so he wouldn't have to stay another minute in this life as my mate? I threw the bottle then across the room and let out an angry scream. I can't let this be it. "If I could bring Silas back from the fucking dead then I should be able to bring Colsin back!" I yelled in outrage. I felt a version of myself forming next to me as my rage broke out. I was feeling it all now. No bottle of alcohol could keep this in. I'm utterly alone.

"Why don't we ask Amelia to bring our beloved Colsin back??" I heard my favorite version of me- sulker suggest a brilliant plan. "She brought back Silas... can't she bring back our Colsin? It wouldn't hurt to try asking." What if Colsin comes back only to reject me? He might never forgive me for not telling him I loved him. I trembled at the thought. "It hurts.... Please, let's try it. She's a witch. Witches bring back the dead all the time, don't they? Colsin is our soul mate. We have to try! We can't leave him with the moon goddess forever. I miss him."

"I miss him too."

"We are one. You have to miss him if I do." I nodded then. I sniffled, looking towards sulker. "We'll go get his body from the earth and take it to her so she doesn't have to travel so far. She's in her mid forties now. It'll be the right thing to do for a lady of her age. She'll be grateful we didn't make her go to the castle for it. We should be prepared to give her our fangs too. It'll be worth it to see Colsin again." That's right... She'll want my fangs in trade for Colsin's life. That's what she asked for when reviving Silas.

"You go get the shovel from the shed and I'll meet you at the grave with a blanket. We'll put his body in the trunk of the car and take him to Amelia's bookshop. Hopefully she'll still be there."

~~~
I reached into the back seat, pulling out the freshly smell of dirt and gritted corpse of my mate. I looked into his cold stare as his eyes were resting wide open. I covered up his face with the blanket around him. I breathed in his scent before carrying him into the late night open book store. The second the door shut behind me, I heard a small cackle from the front desk.
"Sylar Rosario, you're back again?" She asked me. "With that mutt."
"He's my soul mate," I told her.
"Doesn't look too lively," she said. As I neared the desk, I caught her appearance. She didn't look like the same young girl I met those many years ago. She was no longer in her early tenties. She was now in her mid-forties. Her bright orange eyes had lost their brightness. They looked matted. She still had the same glasses pushed up her nose. Her brown hair was still as long but with a few gray strands running through it. There was a huge scar across her face. It ran from her eye down to her lip. What happened to her besides aging? "Stop right there," she hissed as she wrinkled up her nose. She must be disgusted by his corpse. "What do you want?" She asked as I stopped dead in my tracks.
"Please..." I whispered. "I didn't get to tell him I loved him. Would you please bring him back like you done with my brother?" She snickered and looked like she was going to tell me to get out but her face changed all of a sudden and she pointed to a desk nearby with a shaky finger.
"Lay it there." She snapped her fingers and I heard the sign on the door behind me flip to close. The blinds fell over the windows.
"I suppose you want my fangs in exchange," I said thoughtfully to show her I wasn't going to play stupid.
"You're a smart one aren't you?" She asked as she stood up slowly before grabbing a cane and used it to walk over to the table with a limp. I moved after her, sitting the body down. She motioned for me to take a seat at the table before she snapped her fingers and a cart rolled up with bottled liquids sitting on it. I sat down slowly. "I'll get your fangs afterwards," she told me. That's certainly changed about her. I remember her getting my fangs before bringing my brother back... but of course she had to travel so it only makes sense. I caught the faint scent of wolf and glanced around... finding a wolf pelt on the wall.
"What did he do to you?" I asked jokingly.
"Huh?" She asked. She turned to look at me. "Oh. He murdered Crow. He was a rogue that came in one night. You know how I am about dogs in here. He got what he deserved in the end... only after giving me this bad leg and scar on my face. I keep it as a reminder." Crow died? That's terrible. She must be lonely here!
"I'm so sorry," I whispered. I turned back to look at her, watching her pour a liquid into Colsin's mouth. "What're you doing?" I asked her as she rubbed the liquid onto his lips. His lips suddenly looked perky and alive. A color coming to them. She pulled out a knife from the cart and leaned in towards my lips before cutting it slightly.
"Okay, give him a kiss," she told me as she messed around with the bottles, getting out a jar of vampire fangs and a pair of pillars.
"A kiss?" I asked her.
"That's right. Lean in and give him a kiss. Hurry up before the wound closes." She waved her hand for me to get it over with. I leaned into Colsin's lips. I felt excited. This is it. I'll give him the kiss of life and he'll come back. I'll be able to tell him how much I love him and he'll see how I truly feel about him.... Enough to bring him back to life. This will prove I love him and I was loyal to him in the end. He'll die of old age, thrilled by what I done for him tonight. He will die knowing he was truly loved. I pressed my lips against his, feeling my lips tingle a little before the cut on my lips stung. I pulled back in pain and touched my lip before feeling a little faint. I fell backwards, tipping the chair over with me. The pain spread through my body fast and paralyzed me. What's happening?! I felt dizzy before my fangs stung the most, pain streaking up to them. She dropped the pliars and leaned down to me. Amelia parted my lips and as they parted my fangs suddenly fell down against the back of my throat.
She reached inside and pulled them out before placing them inside her bottle. I tasted a little of my own blood as she looked me over and sat down in the other chair, staying in my sight. "Let's make one thing clear," she said in amusement. "If you haven't figured it out yet, your little mutt isn't coming back. I don't wake up the dead.... Especially not a disgusting werewolf. You should have never came here Sylar." I felt a small craving taking on, it wasn't for blood though. "You came at a bad time. I was in search for a familiar. I suppose you'll do nicely." I felt my heart racing in fear as a change was coming upon me. I felt my skin starting to itch badly. She looked towards Colsin before snapping her fingers and his body caught on fire, instantly going up in flames that were out in seconds and his body was nothing but dust. "You'll be my new Crow."
The change took on as black feathers sprouted from my changing body. I let out a screaming caw as my body broke down into pieces to get me into the shape of a small crow. My body stung in pain as I felt limp. She reached down, scooping my up into her hands. I felt a warmth flow through me from her touch. I could hear a broom cleaning with a dust pan as she took me outside. "So you did bring a car," she said as she placed me on her shoulder where I clung to her. She held onto the door as she snapped her fingers.
The car transformed into a totally different one and rolled away slowly, driving off by itself. The tags slowly changed on them, no longer belonging to the Rosario castle. I looked down her body at the floor, feeling my heart pounding. I might fall off her! I got closer to her neck. My wings stung at the tiniest of movements, threatening to paralyze me if I tried to fly. She shut the door quickly and locked it. "In time, you'll forget you past life and only think of me," she purred as she started towards her desk, snapping her fingers. The blinds rolled up and the sign on the door flipped around to advertise the place was open. What have I gotten myself into!?
Everest's POV:
"Master Everest," I heard a butler say as he rushed in. "I was going back to check on Sylar in the night room but I found him missing. So I went to check on him in the graveyard but the ground was dug up where Colsin was buried and the body was missing. Sylar's car is missing too." A maid walked up towards us after putting a phone away in her pocket.
"Master Everest, I just got word that your family is inbound. They're returning home." I widened my eyes. WHY DOES IT FALL TO ME?! I sighed and then rubbed my head before I got to my feet. My brother went missing.... Poor soul, having lost his mate and all. I couldn't imagine life without Neal.... For him, even though he didn't have children with Colsin and took a while for him to get used to... it must be awful. I should make locating him my top priority. There's no telling what he's up to with Colsin's body. Maybe he hasn't been able to accept reality yet.... I bit my bottom lip with worry as my heart felt weighted by this.
I didn't know exactly how to help my brother- just to be there for him, but so much has happened to him.... I shook my head then pulled out my phone to call Sylar, hoping he'd answer me. I dialed his number quickly and looked over towards where Neal was, watching him as I rubbed my cheek and felt my eyes tearing up. My poor, sweet brother didn't deserve this.... He didn't deserve his mate dying. His mate didn't deserve to die either... but it is reality. His mate is dead... and he dug his mate up again. He hasn't accepted it. As soon as I dialed his number it cut me off, saying the number was no longer valid. Neal looked over at me with a small frown as if he had heard it. I frowned and slowly looked at my phone then looked towards the servants.
"Okay... what we're going to do is we're going to make sure that the castle is prepared for their return. I want you all to make sure the house is spotless and have meals waiting for them when they get home. I'm going to take Neal out to the graveyard and see if he can smell anything," I told them then grabbed Neal's hand, tugging him to his feet. "Come on sweetie... we need to find him. He might be in trouble...." I gave his hand a squeeze, holding onto him tightly. He pulled me along, taking me out to the graveyard where we found the dug up grave. He turned into his wolf form before sniffing around. He transformed human and looked towards me.
"Well they were definitely both here. Sylar and Colsin. Their scent is headed towards the house..." He transformed back into a wolf before sniffing the ground, following the scent. He lead me directly to the garage where his car was missing. "This is where the scent ends." I frowned as I saw it and then looked at Neal before I knelt down and rubbed his head then buried my face into his furry shoulder.
"He's so hurt," I mumbled to him, gripping a little bit of his fur. "I couldn't imagine losing you... especially the way he did. We have to find him somehow." My eyes stung a little and I sniffled, curling up to him. "Neal, Colsin is with the moon goddess, right?" I asked, my voice barely coming out as it broke. "It's not a lie that you tell your non-wolf mates, right?"
"We need to find Sylar," Neal told me as he licked my cheek. "Once we find him we can put Colsin at rest again and we'll have to keep a sharp eye on him. We need to tell the rest of the family about his disappearance so we'll be able to find him faster. Maybe Laurence would know." I nodded and pulled away from his shoulder to look my beautiful wolf mate in the eyes.
"Okay," I mumbled then pulled my phone out. I dialed up Lyle and wrapped an arm around Neal's neck, leaning my head against his body as I sat beside him. He answered the phone quickly.
"Hey, how's Sylar? We're all on our way home except for A'slin. Apparently he has to stay and watch Killian for Sera." Stay?
"He ran off... with Colsin's body," I told Lyle softly, feeling a lump in my throat. I failed to keep him here and to help him.... "I'm not sure where he went.... His car is gone."
"Silas, Sylar ran off with Consin's body and Everest lost him. His car is gone," I heard Lyle tell him.
"What do you mean Sylar ran off?!" I heard Silas panic. "Shit."
Silas's POV:
That's not good. My brother is missing. I tapped my foot on the floor of the car as I listened to Lyle and Everest but it was hard for me to concentrate. Sylar had just started to open up to his mate... to move on from me... and his mate was taken from him- ripped from him by a bullet. He didn't take my death well, and he isn't taking Colsin's death well. I ran my fingers through my hair as my toes tapped then my body suddenly stopped as my breath caught in my throat. The last time someone died that was important to him... he went to a witch to make them live again. I looked up from my feet suddenly before I looked at Lyle then at Rei. I need to get to him. He's going to go to a witch! He can't take death well! He'd go if he thinks that he can bring his lover back. He'll lose his fangs again! I have to go to him... and maybe... if the witch can bring Colsin back... maybe I can make it up to Sylar and help them bring Colsin back, but on the off chance, he could be in danger. Witches are sketchy and they'll do anything to get their hands on rare items for their spells. If that witch can't bring Colsin back, she might trick him and rip his fangs out... or do something worse to him. I glanced outside quickly at the surroundings to try to figure out where we were as my crystal pulsed in panic. My poor baby brother.... We were so far away from the castle though.  A day away almost. I looked towards Rei then and grabbed his hand.
"Rei, we need to find my brother," I told him quickly, my eyes tearing up. "He might be in danger. I think I know where he went."
"Where?" Lyle asked quickly as he snapped his attention to me.
"The witch," I whispered. "The witch that he went to so he could bring me back from the dead. He would've taken Colsin there in his state... to try to get the witch to give him back his mate. He would've done it in a heartbeat to get his mate back... like he did when I died. If he could get his fangs ripped out for me, he'd do it for Colsin too."
"Everest, could you try catching our limo?" Lyle asked her.
"Yeah, of course," I heard Everest mumble. "Stop the car and tell me where you are. Neal, stay close to me." Lyle moved up front to tell the driver, telling Everest where we was pulling over at. I looked around worriedly as the car stopped then spotted Everest and Neal a few feet away. They ran up and opened the car door, getting in with us as Everest put Neal's wolf form in her lap.
"Everest, I think I know where Sylar is. We need to hurry," I told her and reached out for her. She looked towards my hands with a slightly tired look before she nodded and put Neal in Lyle's lap.
"Okay," she told me softly and watched as I climbed into her lap. I looked towards Rei and gave him a small smile.
"I'll be back," I promised him. "Unless you want to come." Though maybe he shouldn't.... Sylar would be angry. He doesn't like Rei one bit... especially because of how Sylar and I used to be before Colsin. Neal watched us before curling up in Lyle's lap.
"Be safe," Rei whispered. "I'll stay here with Neal and Lyle." I nodded and then looked towards Everest.
"You need to tell me where," she told me and gave my hand a small squeeze. I closed my eyes as I did my best to remember where exactly then leaned in and whispered it to her. I felt a slight breeze against my back as car horns honked, rushing by as they zoomed down the street. I opened my eyes and looked around quickly before I looked towards the little bookshop.
"Everest, stay outside unless something goes wrong," I told her and pulled away, walking up to the doors quickly and went inside. Sylar has to be here.... I don't care if his car isn't in the parking lot. He HAS to be. This is the only thing I could see him doing with Colsin's body. I heard a hum as a woman was putting books on a shelf with a cart right next to her. The place looked normal. There was a wolf pelt hanging on the wall though.
"Can I help you?" I heard her ask. I looked towards the witch and shut the door behind me.
"Yeah..." I glanced at the wolf pelt uncomfortably and looked it over, making sure it wasn't Colsin's then relaxed slightly as I walked in further. "I'm searching for something unique." MY BROTHER! Where the hell is he? I thought he'd be out here somewhere.... Is he in the back?
"A unique book?" She asked. She looked down at a book, looking the cover over. There wasn't a scent or telling sign he was or had been here. I frowned slightly.
"No," I told her and walked up to her. "I'm looking for Sylar."
"Sylar?" She looked towards me and smiled. I noticed her aging detail as I caught her appearance and the scar running across her face. "Silas! It's been a long time. So you're looking for your brother Sylar?" I nodded and tensed up a little. I could've sworn this would've been the place he would've came to.
"Yeah, I think he came here.... He had a good reason, and I know he would come to you for help," I told her and glanced around. It's odd though.... It doesn't seem like he's been here.
"I'm sorry but I haven't seen him in years," she told me. I nodded and gave her a small frown before I looked away and glanced the room over.
"Oh... okay.... Well, I guess since I'm here... I'll take a look at the books you have and add a few to my library at home," I told her and walked over to a shelf close to her desk to 'look' at books. I was going to do some looking around for my brother... while looking like I was searching for a good book. She went back to her stacking books.
"Okay. Let me know if you need to find something," she told me. "I have all the new and interesting books out." I glanced at her and nodded before I glanced towards her desk then the back room. I snuck closer to the back room and then looked at some more books before I managed to slip in it. I shut the door quietly behind me and glanced around.
"Sylar? Are you back here?" I whispered softly. What if he isn't? What if I'm wrong and I didn't know my brother as well as I thought I did? I found a nice cozy nook area where a crow was sleeping on a pillow. There was a fire burning in the room but I didn't hear my brother call back to me. I frowned a little before I sighed. "Damn it," I mumbled and looked the fire over before I walked across the room, checking behind the furniture a little before I rubbed my head. He's not here.... I clenched my jaw then started walking towards the door to sneak back out before she could notice my absence.
"What you're looking for isn't back there," I heard her tell me from across the room as I walked through the door. Well shit... I was caught. I laughed and shut the door behind me.
"Yeah... there definitely wasn't any more books back there," I purred, trying to sound amused. I gave her a sweet smile before I walked over to the book shelves. I can't believe Sylar didn't come to revive his mate.... Did he not care for Colsin in the end? I thought he came home to the castle just to be with his mate.... Was it all just a fake love for him? Just to appease his mate and to not seem like a jerk? I frowned and looked towards one of the books, running my fingers across the spine. Why did he dig his dead mate back up then if he wasn't going to bring him back to life?
"You could have asked," she laughed out and rolled the cart off to another part of the book section. I glanced at her then frowned a little. I don't think Sylar was like that though.... I shook my head a bit before I glanced back at the door with a frown then looked away from it. I guess he really didn't come here.... I pulled my phone out then, getting the idea to text Laurence and ask him if he knows where my brother went. We still need to track him down, even if I was wrong.
Me: Laurence, can you help me figure out where Sylar went? He's missing.
Laurence: It's fuzzy when I think about him. I can't grasp what I'm seeing. Maybe you'll understand. All I see is black feathers.
I frowned a bit then. Black feathers.... The crow? Does the crow know? I looked back to the door before I glanced at her then slipped back into it. I walked over to the crow then knelt down by the couch, reaching out and gently touching it's wing. It better not screech.... I don't want the witch coming in here while I question her familiar. He tightened his wing to him then at the slightest of my touch. Great.... I frowned and started to pet it, trying to rouse it from sleep without startling it. I shook it a bit. "Hey, wake up." It cawed at me as it woke up before biting at my hand in anger. I yelped and glared at it. "Don't bite me," I hissed at it and yanked my hand back. "Look, do you have any clue where the hell my brother is? Your witch isn't saying anything to me about him. His name is Sylar and he's got curly blonde hair. You need to tell me if you've seen him at all. I mean it." I gave the bird a stern look then. It turned around and faced the couch suddenly. I growled a bit. "Great... Thanks so much," I muttered then got to my feet. "He must not have come here...." I mumbled to myself and turned away from the bird, starting for the door. "Laurence must've meant something else by black feathers.... That bird isn't helpful at all...."
"Are you having fun back here?" I heard the witch ask. She was standing in the door way observing me. I tensed as I saw her. Come on! Does the witch have to be everywhere at once?! She acts like she's got eyes in the back of her head! You know what... I bet that damned bird called her on me.
"No, actually," I told her and put my hands in my pockets. "I was just deciding to leave. I think I found the book I wanted though.... The Great Gatsby? Do you have that? Or Twilight or something? Both would be great," I hummed out. Might as well buy something.
"I do have both," she told me before stepping out with her cane and heading for the cash register. She snapped her fingers and both books flew off the shelf and went straight for me. "You can keep both of them, free of charge. Come by more often, Silas. I'd love spending time with a king." I looked at the books in my hand before I sighed.
"Thanks for this," I mumbled and then looked at the Twilight book. Sylar would flip if he found out I got a Twilight book.... Maybe I should get it signed by the author. He might like that... if he ever comes home. I clutched the books then walked towards the exit to leave. "Please call me if you do see him. He needs to come home...."
"I will," she promised. "If I do see him." I glanced at her before I walked out and looked towards Everest.
"He wasn't there," I mumbled and walked past her towards the side walk. "He didn't take Colsin to the witch to revive him. I was wrong...."
"We'll find him," Everest told me and walked up, grabbing my hand. I stopped then and looked towards Everest.
"Everest... if he doesn't want to be found... I doubt we'll find him," I told her then felt my body shake slightly. "We could never see him again, and the last time I would've talked to him would be that fight we had." I felt a tear slip down my cheek then. "He ran off... again."
"That's not your fault though if you think it is," she told me and then gave my hand a squeeze. "I'm sure that he will come back to us. We'll keep searching for him." She pulled me into a hug then and kissed the top of my head.
"Everest..." I whimpered then hid my face into her neck, dropping the books as I held onto her tightly. "How could he not come here to revive his mate? I don't get it! He would've! It doesn't make sense! I thought he loved Colsin.... I mean, he revived me. Why wouldn't he try to revive his dead mate?!"
"Well maybe he knew he couldn't because he realized that it only worked with you because your crystal dust was still scattered around," she murmured softly in my ear. "He might've gone to take Colsin somewhere else so he could grieve in his own way.... He might be trying to deny that Colsin is dead...." I shook my head and clung to her.
"He needs to come home. I don't want him out there... alone in the streets. I want him to come home... I miss him so much... and I worry for him, and I'm scared that he won't ever forgive me-"
"Forgive you for what? You didn't do anything wrong," she told me.
"He didn't want me to marry Rei, but I did anyways. He didn't want me to be with him. He raised me back from the dead and believed that he should have a say in that," I whispered and then felt her push me out by my shoulders, looking me dead in the eyes.
"Look, he didn't own you because he brought you back from the dead. He needed to know that, and you can be with Rei without feeling guilty. If Sylar can't see that he should let you be happy, then that's his problem. I'm sure he will come around for you though when he gets back.... He's always  looked up to you... even when you were always angry at everything in life." I nodded, caught by Everest's eyes as she stared me down. She smiled a little then rubbed my cheek before she frowned. "Did you say that he didn't come here?" She asked. I frowned then.
"Yeah, why?"
"Smell the air," she told me and looked around quickly.
"Why-"
"Just do it." I frowned and sniffed the air before I widened my eyes and caught a faint scent of Sylar. He WAS here! That lying witch and crow! I growled and then looked towards the door.
"They lied to me!"
"We need to get them and bring them home with us so we can question them," Everest muttered. "Let me teleport back to the castle and get some restraining equipment to be able to block their powers." She disappeared quickly, leaving me there by myself. I frowned and went back inside, having to step over the books I had just gotten. I looked around and smelled the air inside, taking note that his scent disappeared in here like she had cleaned it up. She did something to my brother.... I growled and walked up to the desk where she was still standing.
"Where is my brother?" I hissed, glaring her down. "You did something to him. I know you did! His scent is outside! He came here! Why didn't you tell me?!"
"He didn't come here," she told me. "I told you I haven't seen him in years." She was sitting down in a chair behind the desk, reading a book about worms. "He might have been out there at one point but he certainly didn't come inside." I frowned then at her.
"I highly doubt that. We're talking about my brother. He would've come in here to ask you to bring back his mate. He loved Colsin!" I told her then narrowed my eyes a little before I started for the back. If she wasn't going to talk, I'd get her pet and make her talk. The door to the back was locked when I went to open it.
"Maybe something outside got him before he could make it in here," she suggested. "Just look at what a rogue done to me... nasty buggers." I gripped the doorknob then.
"Then why... didn't you... help him?" I hissed at her and then looked in her direction. "If something got him, he would've screamed," I hissed and exposed my fangs. "He's a prince. If you've harmed him, you are going to be in serious trouble!"
"Why would I harm a prince? Do you think I'm stupid? I didn't hear a scream. I must have been in the back at the time. I haven't been outside lately. I've been busy in here." I frowned at her then took my hand off the handle.
"Then you should show that you have good intentions and help me find him," I hissed under my breath. "If you really want me to stop suspecting you, you'll locate my brother and bring me to him."
"I don't do location spells anymore. They're hard for me to gather the indigence for and as you can see.... I'm not into gathering with this bad leg. Why don't you try calling him," she suggested. I frowned and shook my head. Fuck this shit. I'll find him myself. If she won't help me, then I'll just have to make sure that she absolutely had nothing to do with Sylar's disappearance by messing with her pet. I busted the door down, kicking it in then walked in and over to the couch where the little crow was and scooped it up, holding its wings against its body as I looked it over.
"I hope she cares about you," I hissed under my breath. He leaned in and bit down onto my hand, cawing at me. I glared at him. "You better fucking quit that right now," I growled at him. "Look, behave and nothing will happen to you. I'm just here to figure out if that damned witch did something to my brother." He cawed at me before sending a death glare through my eyes from his. He tilted his head before fluttering his wings against my hands to try to get away. I frowned and held him down. "For a crow... you're very angry. Is it because I have you pinned? Or is it because I'm threatening your master?" I asked him and tsked. "I don't know how Sylar ever dealt with you two. You're both sketchy,"  muttered and started for the door with the crow. "I would've gone to someone else to bring me back." She laughed as she watched me.
"What're you doing with my crow?" She asked. I looked at her then.
"You're going to tell me exactly where my brother is... or else I'm going to leave you without your precious familiar," I told her, glaring her down.
"You're going to take my familiar away from me?" She asked.
"I could mean a lot by that," I told her and then looked the bird over before I ran my thumb along one of it's flight feathers.
"You wouldn't," she tsked and shook her head. "Besides... it's not like I could tell you where he is at the moment. You'd know before I would." I narrowed my eyes a little before I looked up at her.
"Find. My. Brother."
"Or else what?" She asked. "You'll take away my familiar?" She laughed. "He'll come right back to me."
"I'll have you arrested," I hissed then looked at the bird before I dropped it. What the hell is the point. She obviously doesn't give a shit. I went up to her then snatched her up by her neck, deciding to go after her instead of going through her familiar. I exposed my fangs then bit down into her, starting to drain her quickly. She let out a scream of pain before grabbing my wrist and dug her nails in deep.
"Stop it," she hissed. "You're not going to ever see your brother if you keep this up." I snarled in her ear then pulled back, glaring at her in her eyes.
"Then you know where he is," I hissed then dug my nails into her neck. "Tell me where he is. Right. Now. Or I'll kill you. I won't hesitate. I have other people who could help me find him. You should know that."
"Pshhh," she laughed before she pointed her finger at the crow. "You've been in his presence all along." I frowned and then loosened up on her neck a little, looking towards the crow.
"You.. turned... my brother... into a friggin CROW?!" I growled and looked at her then. "Change him back. You can't have my brother!"
"But I already chose him as my familiar. It's a done deal." She laughed as she watched me. "He's mine now. I needed a crow and he was the lucky contestant." I narrowed my eyes.
"What if I could get you a human for you to turn into your familiar," I asked her. "I need my brother back. You can't have him. I mean it. I will kill you if I have to."
"I'm not giving him up. He's mine. If you kill me then he will die too." I growled at her.
"YOU CAN'T FUCKING HAVE HIM," I snarled at her then started to drag her out from behind the counter. I felt rage boiling up in me at her as I tightened my grip around her throat. "I'll take you to Aurelio and we'll see what the fuck you say after that! I'm not taking this shit from you. I don't care if you did bring me back from the dead! You can't have my brother! You can't have anyone in my family!" I glared her down then stopped before I saw Everest out of the corner of my eyes.
"Silas... calm down. You're going to kill her if you don't calm down," she told me soothingly then walked up, binding the witch's wrists in the special cord that would suppress her powers. She took the witch from my grip gently, purring softly to me to make me stop. I sighed and took a deep breath, letting her have the witch.
"Take her to Lyle. Tell him that the witch turned Sylar into her familiar and that I want Aurelio to separate them. I want him to turn Sylar back to normal, and then I want the witch locked up." Everest frowned, looking confused but nodded and then disappeared with the witch before she could say anything. I looked down at the crow/Sylar and knelt down. "Sylar... do you even know what is going on or are you just blind and wanting to follow her around?" I asked him and sighed. I wouldn't get a straight answer anyways. If he was blind, he'd say that he knew what was going on and wanted it. I looked him over before I held out a hand towards him to see if he'd jump up on it or if he'd peck me again.
I can always look around for a cage to put him in.... He looked towards my hand before scattering off, running back into the back room to get away from me. I frowned and got up, following after him. "Sylar," I mumbled and leaned against the door as I reached it, watching him. "Get your little birdy butt over here. I'm taking you home." He went under the couch suddenly, disappearing in a shadow. I growled and then went over to the couch, flipping it over. I don't have time for this. He cawed at me before running past me and for the other couch in the room. "SYLAR!" I groaned and went after him, catching him before he could escape. "Knock it off. I need you to come home with me." He fluttered his wings before biting me hard, opening up my flesh. I started to bleed out and he started to suck at my blood. I yelped and winced, looking at him.
"Sylar... you little vampire bird," I mumbled and started to take him towards the door. He bit down harder into my finger before fluttering his wings to loosen my grip on him. I yelped and stopped, loosening up on his wings. "Sylar, please don't make this difficult," I whispered to him. He cawed loudly before starting to cry out. I frowned at him before I moved him into one hand then gently bit into my wrist and started to drip my blood onto his beak. "Are you hungry?" I asked him softly then purred to him to comfort him. Maybe he's just frightened.
He leaned into my wrist and opened up his mouth for the blood. I smiled and held him a little closer, letting my blood drip into his mouth and rubbed his wing gently with my thumb. "There we go~ You're going to be fine," I purred to him then sat down on the desk to let him feed. My phone started to go off in my pocket then. He fluttered his wings and flew into the floor, scurrying away from me. I groaned and got to my feet, going after him then caught him. I glanced around and found a small cage then stuck him in it, shutting it then pulled out my phone and answered it. "Hello? Who is it?"
"It's Aurelio." He said calmly. "You do realize you ask the impossible right?" He asked. "I can't break a witches' bond with a familiar. The only way would be to kill the familiar or the witch and in both cases the familiar dies."
"Then what the hell are we supposed to do?! I need my brother back as my brother! I can't have him as some witch's familiar! Get her to let him go and find someone else!" I told him and frowned, looking down at Sylar in the cage.
"I can get her to turn him back into his former form so he can talk to you," Aurelio suggested. "That's all I can do. Sylar is her familiar now."
"She can't release him?" I asked and frowned, tapping the cage. This isn't fair! I clenched my jaw then turned away from the cage, my crystal pulsing in anger.
"You're talking about a witch releasing it's familiar? Are you insane? It's a done deal. The only way for him to be released is if she dies of natural causes like old age." I frowned.
"So what the hell am I supposed to do?! Just let some witch steal him from me and forget about him?!" I narrowed my eyes then. "I can't just let her have him! He's my BROTHER!"
"I know," he sighed out. "Believe me... I know. Look, is he in an open space? I'm going to make her change him back into his former form."
"No, he's in a cage because he keeps trying to run off and hide," I told him and glanced back at the cage.
"Well take him out of it and keep him in the open. I'll ask a couple of wizards I know if they have a spell to release him without her."
"O-okay," I mumbled and then looked over at the cage before I opened it and reached in, pulling him out then sat him in the floor. "I took him out." He hung up suddenly on me. After a few minutes I heard Sylar caw before limbs started to break and he formed into his formal self. He groaned and curled up, naked on the ground. He shivered and started to cry. I looked at him with wide eyes before I knelt down beside him and took my shirt off, putting it on him. "Sylar," I whispered worriedly and rubbed his cheek. "You're alright," I mumbled to him. He looked up at me in confusion.
"Silas?" He asked softly. I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm here," I whispered and then pulled his head gently into my lap. "How are you feeling? Does it hurt anywhere?" I asked worriedly then looked him over. My poor brother....
"Everywhere," he told me. "It hurts so much," he mumbled and clung at his chest. I winced and then looked down into his eyes before I bit into my wrist and placed it against his lips.
"Here, drink some. It might help," I murmured to him. He shoved my wrist away and started to puke up the blood I just fed him. He curled up into a ball then and let out a cry of pain. I widened my eyes then. "Sylar...." I pulled him close then before I started to rock him in my arms. "I'm so sorry," I whispered to him. He started to cry and clung to my shirt.
"He's dead...." He mumbled. "I didn't tell him I loved him when he died," he mumbled. Sylar....
"I'm sure he knew," I whispered to him. "He knew you loved him. He was your mate... and he was a werewolf. He knew you loved him when he died. He loved you too or else he wouldn't have saved you from the hunters. I'm sure he's watching over you right now, and I'm sure he wants you to be happy. He loves you." I kissed the top of his head comfortingly and then rubbed his back. "I'm sure he's going to be watching over you for a very long time and still be protecting you. He knows you love him deep down."
"He died in my hands," Sylar mumbled. "I tried to keep him alive."
"There was nothing you could've done for him. He was shot fatally, and he was a werewolf," I whispered to him and ran my fingers through his hair. "He died for you though... and not everyone is willing to die for someone like that. Trust me, if there was a way to bring him back for you, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I can't.... We could ask Aurelio, but I doubt he knows how.... He's safe where he is though, and he's happy running around with all the other wolves and being able to watch over you and protect you so much more."
"But I'll never be with him again," Sylar mumbled. I rubbed his back soothingly.
"No... maybe not in that form... but you have an eternity to find Colsin again. Maybe you'll get lucky... and he'll be a human for you this time. Maybe he'll be another pureblood.... There's no telling what he could come back as, or we could ask Aurelio to try to bring him back to you if you want to rip him out of the moon goddess's lands," I mumbled to him. He sniffled and clutched at his head before rolling off of me and fell into the cold ground. I watched him before I scooped him up again and got to my feet, taking him towards the door. "Sylar... do you know what happened to you?" I asked him softly, wanting to know how much he knew about what happened to him.
"No... I don't know.... I don't remember much except digging him up from the ground.... Where is he?"
"I'm... not sure. I know that you came here to the witch to have her revive him... but something happened and you became her familiar instead. I'm not sure what she did with Colsin's body," I told him softly. He whimpered in my arms then. I looked down at him and stopped. "Do you want me to do a search for him?" I asked him softly, not wanting to make him leave his mate's body behind here.
"Silas," he whimpered. "I don't feel good." I looked at him and frowned.
"You don't feel good?" I asked and then looked him over before I sat him down and knelt beside him, starting to inspect him for broken bones or any possible injuries he could've gotten. He swatted me away before pulling the shirt off of him and started to scratch his skin. I frowned and watched him. "Sylar... don't scratch too hard," I whispered then rubbed his head before I looked around the shop. I haven't seen a sign of Colsin's body.... Maybe the witch disposed of it.... I frowned and then turned my attention back to my brother. "Do you want to go home? We'll call Everest to come pick us up."
"No," he told me and laid backwards on the floor, moaning at the coldness of it.
"No? You don't want to go home yet?" I asked and frowned a bit. Why wouldn't he want to go home? "Everyone is worried about you...." He closed his eyes and looked like he was dozing off. Something was definitely off about him. I frowned and scooped him up anyways. I'll have him inspected. I got my phone out and texted Everest to come get us, watching as she quickly appeared in front of us.
"Hey~ SYLAR!" She brightened up at the sight of him and tackled us in seconds, kissing his face. "I was so worried that we wouldn't get him back at least in this form!" I smiled at her and kissed her cheek.
"Yeah, but I hope to separate them from each other completely. Could you take us to the castle?" She nodded and grabbed us, making us suddenly appear in Sylar's bedroom. I walked over to his bed and laid him down in it, covering him up to his chin then kissed the top of his head before I pulled back. "Could you get Aurelio so he could inspect him and make sure he's fine? I need to go check in on Lyle and Rei after you get back," I said, giving Everest a sweet smile. She nodded and disappeared quickly, looking a bit tired again. I hope I'm not wearing her out too bad.... I sat down on the edge of the bed, not wanting to leave him alone as I watched him sleeping.
He curled up to one of the pillows and moaned as he got one that smelled like Colsin. I frowned a little, feeling awful that he lost his mate. He'll wake up... and Colsin won't be there.... There's got to be a way to bring his mate back from the dead. He was opening up. It wasn't fair.... Everest appeared with Aurelio then, leading him over to the bed. "Aurelio," I mumbled, watching my brother. "Is there a way we can bring his mate back from the dead? Please? I know I've asked you for so much lately concerning this... but it's awful. He was just finally getting there with his mate.... He shouldn't have to wait forever to get another Colsin that won't know him. He should get his Colsin back- the one that knows him."
"I'm sorry but there isn't a way," Aurelio told me. "It's impossible. I mean.... maybe a more divine creature could fuck around in the afterlife and steal him from wherever he is and bring him back to his corpse.... but it's just not possible. No." He shook his head. "I'm sorry..." He looked Sylar over. "He's so unfortunate." I frowned and nodded, looking Sylar over.
"I think Colsin's corpse is lost.... I didn't see any sign of it," I whispered. So Colsin can't come back for sure in that form. He'll have to be reincarnated for Sylar to ever see him again. "We'll just have to wait for him to be reincarnated.... That does happen, right?" I asked him curiously. "With spirits?" Everest sat down beside me as I looked at Aurelio then at my brother.
"I really don't want to tell you about the afterlife of werewolves," Aurelio whispered as he looked towards Everest. That sounds... bad. Everest tensed up then and looked at Aurelio with a scared look.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked him quickly. She gripped my hand then, giving it a squeeze. I'll take it as... werewolves have a complicated afterlife... because of the moon goddess.
"It means that if Neal hasn't told you it's definitely not my place," Aurelio said. Everest fidgeted then and looked away from Aurelio.
"It'll be fine," I purred to Everest to calm her down. Subject change! "So, does he look like he's okay?" I asked Aurelio softly. "He said he wasn't feeling too good." Aurelio walked up to us and leaned over, placing his hand over Sylar's chest. He leaned in and pressed his head against Sylar's head before pulling back.
"It's just the process kicking in. Familiars go through it. Their body changes to suit their witches' needs. Especially a battle of emotions. He'll feel bad.... but he'll feel real good afterwards." I nodded and smiled.
"Okay, so he'll be fine," I mumbled happily then looked at Sylar. "We should pretty up Colsin's grave for him though... so he has a nice place to go mourn, and Colsin can have a place to be honored. I'll have some maids figure out what Colsin's favorite plants were from his parents and get them planted around his tombstone... and we'll put some of Sylar's favorites there...." I got to my feet then before I walked up to Sylar and leaned in, kissing his cheek. "I'm going to go for a bit, but I'll be back to check on you," I whispered to him, giving him a small hug. "Don't go anywhere...." I'll have some maids stand outside the door to make sure he doesn't run off... and a butler stationed in his room to take care of him. He groaned and hid his head under the pillow. I laughed a little and then pulled back, looking towards Aurelio. "Would you like to come with me? I'd like to let Everest rest a bit."
"Sure. I'll tag along," Aurelio mused out before starting for the door. I smiled to him and followed after him. I purred to him then looked back to Everest, finding her already gone. She probably went back to Neal.... I smiled softly and then looked towards Aurelio as we walked out and I locked the door behind me. "Once we get this done, I'll have to see if my friends have found that spell for me," Aurelio said.
