3 Chapter 3

It seems that after crashing into Emily, we had landed in an awkward position where I was leaning on my right elbow which was digging into her stomach and even, I could tell that she was feeling pain. Imagine the move in wrestling in which a wrestler, during his finishing move, runs and then jumps above their opponent only to come crushing down on them with their elbow, which contained a lot of power, into the stomach of their opponent. Imagine the reaction of the person on the floor, writhing in pain while clutching their stomach as he shouts "FUCK" repeatedly. That was Emily's exact reaction and even though I had not performed the moves of a wrestler, I had still driven my right elbow into her stomach and from the red color of her face and the wrinkling of her face as she used her every willpower to not curse out at me, I could tell that she was in extreme pain.

"Sorry" I said as I got up and me being the chivalrous man that I am, extending my hand towards her to help her get up, which she hesitantly accepted after what I thought was a brief moment of consideration on whether to flip me off or not. I apologized again for the inconvenience to which she simply nodded saying that it was alright.

"Oops, it would seem that the tower does not want me giving you any hints so once again I'll remind you one last time of the goal of participants of the tower."

"CLIMB TO THE TOP OF THE TOWER"

"You may use whatever method you see fit as long as you eventually climb the tower. Simple right?"

"Anyway, now that you know the rules, let's get into the fun stuff."

Some of the participants faces were twisted in confusion.

What fun stuff was he talking about?

"In order to assist participants in climbing the tower, the tower has bestowed abilities to participants or rather the players in order to make climbing the tower a little bit easier. I will now explain how to access your abilities as well as view your current status according to the tower's system."

"In order to see your bestowed abilities and status, simply say STATUS WINDOW"

A moderately large holographic blue screen appeared in front of me. The screen itself was semi-transparent which meant that I was able to see past the screen if I concentrated hard enough. The following information was displayed on the screen

"The information you see in front of you represents your individual attributes. For example strength refers to how physically strong you are.

Agility refers to your movement speed and reaction speed.

Perception refers to your sensitivity to your surroundings.

Intelligence refers to how much information your brain can hold as well as your brain's thinking speed. In mages, it also works hand in hand with mana in a sense.

Constitution refers to your total stamina and determines how quickly you get tired. It also slightly affects your total HP which are your health points.

Resistance (Physical) refers to your body immunity to attacks that cause physical damage.

Resistance (Magical) refers to your body's immunity to attacks that cause magical damage.

EXP is the short term of experience points which are needed to level up. You can earn exp by killing monsters, inventing new items or basically accomplishing something extraordinary.

SXP refers to the bonus stat points that come from leveling up which you can decide which attributes you wish to increase them with. Just like a game.

I won't tell you about Jobs and Titles as you need to figure them out on your own

The digits are used to give a numerical measure of your different attributes and are often used to compare how much you have grown as well as compare yourselves with each other.

For example, a person with 10 points in strength is stronger than a person with 5 points in strength and the higher the margin in terms of points, the higher the difference in terms of attributes. For example, a person with 50 points in strength is 5 times stronger than a person with 10 strength points. Similarly, a person with 1500 mana has 15 times more mana capacity than a person with 100 points in mana."

The explanation seemed to make sense however there were some attributes that I did not understand for example, what did aura mean?

"Now the last thing I wanted to explain is about the passive skills given to each one of you. Like I had previously stated, each person receives their own passive skill. Most of them are usually of common tier rank but some of you may receive other tiers of passive skills. To see the description of the skill, simply tap on the skill's name on the status window."

I extended my left hand and tapped on my passive skills with my index finger and the following information was displayed

After some time, Zeus spoke again,

"Enough time has been given for you to check your skills and hence I will now explain the rankings that exist in this world. This is a way of ranking how good or valuable a product is, similar to how on earth things are ranked depending on how much money they cost or how rare they are. Most of the items such as weapons, artefacts and potions in the tower are ranked according to these tiers and there are a total of 7 tiers. The tiers are ranked as follows in terms of ranking from the lowest to the highest tier."

"The common ranking consists of cheap and easily acquirable items whereas the Divine ranking consists of items so rare that only divine beings possess them. As I had said, almost all things are ranked according to these tiers and that includes skills."

It took a second for what he said to click in my head. So that meant that the grading "legendary" was the ranking of the skill itself. I was oddly excited about this since this meant that my skills were extremely rare compared to most of the players here who would have common skills as stated by Zeus. Also, Zeus has said that people only received one skill from the tower however I had received not one but two skills. This seemed like a good sign about what lay ahead but BOY! would I be proven wrong.
