Love, Madness & Betrayal 2

The void?

What was the void?

Since the book was so small Azreal didn't really expect much of an answer, but still, maybe he could gain some insights so he decided not to think too deeply since this was only the first book the question would mostly eventually be answered.

.....

Waaahhh

Waaaahhh

Waaaahhhh

The sound of a baby crying echoed in the room along with the subtle sighs of relief from the healers.

This birth was one of the worst they'd experience, it was almost like the baby was trying to devour its mother.

Holding his son in his hand Death's face showed an uncontrollable smile, he couldn't believe that such a tiny thing would make him feel this happy, overwhelmingly happy.

Even the crying sounded like the greatest melody due to his joy.

"I.....my—your my son, I have a child!!"

Though blessed with unimaginable power they all were cursed, as they gain more power it became harder and harder for them to reproduce, Death having a child now was really defying the odds.

Turning around Death ran over to his wife, holding the baby close so she could get a good look at him.

"He looks just like his father"

The smile on death face broaden but only for a second before it completely faded, the joy he felt shattered instantly.

"My lo—"

Before he could say anything else she lightly stroked his face while taking the baby from him.

"It's okay my love"

But it wasn't, his wife was dying in front of him, he more than anyone else could feel her life slowly leaking away.

Lost in a trance and unwilling to accept it, the room grew darker, soft haunting howls of beasts and all sorts of tormented souls started echoing softly, not just in the room but across the entire divine realm.

Within seconds the bright day turned into the darkest night.

All across the almost endless divine realm portals both large and small started opening up, all sorts of rotting skeletal beasts —both large and small, some had wings, others had to crawl— started to force their way out of the portal, trying their best to break the runic barrier that prevented them from running wild in the divine realm.

Being restricted by the barrier their screams became louder and louder, almost like the scream of a siren.

The weaker willed deities fell to the ground clutching their heads in pains, while the slightly stronger ones who could resist stared on in fear.

"What's going on?"

"What are these beasts..."

"Run....run for your lives...." An old man whispered to himself,

Turning around to the old man that stood in the street a few deity's that we close enough to hear the whisper started bombarding him with questions.

But the old man didn't tarry to answer any questions he flew off into the distance far enough so they wouldn't catch up to him then he shouted.

"Those creatures belong to lord death!" He scream in terror

Nothing else needed to be said the fear and terror they felt was bone-deep.

With all the power they've accumulated enough to crush mortal worlds with just a casual sneeze, they would be nothing but lambs in front of a starving wolf if those creatures escaped.

In the now darkened room, faint specs of light could be seen leaving his wife's body, twinkling playfully, as they left she grew weaker and weaker but her grip on her crying son never weakened.

A few specs of the light fell on the face of the newborn, soothing him and sending him to sleep.

"Dante, I want to name him Dante"

"Of course my love" the cracking of his voice could be heard clearly, he was on the brink of crying.

Seeing this she couldn't help but laugh a little.

"How can the ruler of death cry? You bring sorrow but you can't feel sorrow" she spoke with a slight smile on her face.

After saying this she looked up, the tiny specs of light that were leaving her body couldn't leave the room.

"It's okay, I love you"

"Please...."

Unlike when mortals die and their souls will either reincarnate or be sent to the underworld, for gods it wasn't the same, if you died that was it, you'd be returned to nature.

Unable to accept it Death got up, gently pushing his now slightly illusory hand inside her body, she didn't struggle or resist, only enjoying the time with her sleeping son.

Pulling back his hand he took a piece of her soul, small black worms made of death energy came off of his palm absorbing.

Picking up her body he vanished from the room— leaving the healers stunned— appearing in his back garden, as he walked towards the center of the garden.

When she found out she was pregnant she planted this tree in honor of their child.

As he walked toward the tree two skeletal soldiers walked out of the two portals that opened on the ground carry two shovels, they dug a grave in front of the tree.

Just then one of Deaths servants appeared gently taking the baby from her now lifeless arms, as the skeletons covered the grave he walked up to the tree bonding his wife's soul to it.

"I hope you can forgive me for this" Death said while looking at the grave.

"Kill them," he said as he took Dante from his servants hands.

The moment his servant left a burst of light containing endless majesty started approaching from the distance cleansing the darkness.

"Brother! what do you think you're doing?!"

Not long after the voice sounded did Death's brother appear, Lord Light, the moment he took in the scene he swallowed his words, he could 'see' the body that was just buried

His sister in law being dead was a surprise but even more surprising was the fact that his brother had a son.

Death, on the other hand, was completely stoic.

"Ha..ha..ha.. truly a gate fitting for the lord of death don't you think, brother?"

Light didn't respond he just walked up to his brother patting him on the shoulder, as he did those slight fluctuations of pure light flash as he closed his eyes and third open in his forehead, calming his defenseless brother.

With light third eye as the center, a calming golden ray of light spread across the Divine Realm silently destroying the darkness that just came over in.

Although Death seemed to be in a trance the entire time he used his aura to hide his wife's soul from his brother's eye.

I’m home now and back in my crab shell, so I’m feeling a lot better.

Not back full time since I just came home have people to visit and the likes.
