Blood.

As a clinical pathologist for three and a half decades, it is a sight I'm most familiar of. But as blood ran down my nose, I realized there are still moments I'd be surprised to see it.

Rhio's guards held him in place while he stood there in his intimidating aura. His fists were still clenched and I expected another punch from him when he struggled to get free from his men's grips. Instead, he went away unapologetic.

I wasn't angry but a little upset to think he must have had never really considered me, or Elthon in that aspect, as his guardians.

Had we raised him badly?

Had we made him feel that alone?

My phone buzzed in my pocket as a message chimed in.

Rhio's latest semen analysis result has come.

I felt uneasy to let that information wait for the next morning. The fertility laboratory closes at ten and there was still some time left to get there. I dismissed all the men to follow after Rhio while I sped the car off to the hospital.

There was nobody else in the clinic when I arrived except for the andrologist. He was preparing to leave and has already changed in casual clothing when I came.

"What happened to your face?" he noticed when I came in. I supposed little clots of drying blood still hung at corners of my nose. "Anyway, here's my findings."

He handed the document and crossed his arms as he waited for me to scan it through and through. Rhio's sperm count thankfully wasn't a zero but was low still at less than 2.0 million per milliliter.

"His semen is acidic at Ph5.6. Sperms: progressive motility is low, 60% immotile and 20% dead, 4% normal, and at least 80% are misshapen. This is below average and I'd say his chances are low; 80% chance of not getting fertilized, 15% chance that the pregnancy would result to miscarriage, equivalent 5% chance of still birth and 5% live birth with 2.5% possible chance of congenital defect for the kid," he narrated slowly. "But I still had them delivered for cryopreservation in case Rhio's condition led to permanent infertility."

I exhaled deeply and sat in exhaustion.

A good news that is equivalently a bad news.
