I was about to dial Derick when a knock rapped at my door. I wiped my tears off and desperately hoped that the bloating of my eyelids would miraculously disappear. 

"Sis," it was Amy's voice.

"Motherfuckers! You were taking advantage of my sister too much!"

I turned to Amy in sudden alarm. 

It was Dexter yelling.

Downstairs, he was in a heated argument with Nadine.

"All that fucker wants to do is play with Jasmin's feelings," he spat.

"Dexter…" I looked at them in confusion. "What happened?"

"Look at your brother Jasmin," Nadine scrunched her face. "He punched Derick outside."

Dexter pointed at me, "Don't ever go with that guy anymore."

"Then what Dexter," Nadine hit him with her arm, "We'll go back to the slums?"

"I don't care if we get back to what we were before!"

"Don't ever forget that he helped pay your hospital bills!"
