129 Truck
It was long and an agonizing night for the older Liu couple. Madam Liu stayed in the hospital while Mr. Liu started to trace the whereabouts of both Liu Zijian and Han Meixiu prior to the accident.
When Liu Zijian was finally out of danger, Madam Liu finally breathed a sigh of relief. Her husband promised her to find out what happened to her daughter in law as well as the details of Liu Zijian's accident.
About an hour ago, she was also able to talk to Liu Zilong who was currently in another country.
Although she's somewhat used to this kind of set up where her elder son would always be away, this time she was wishing her family was complete.
She was afraid.
The first ray of sunlight already broke out seemingly washing out the grievances she had last night. It was as if the sun was promising her a better day.
Although the sunlight no matter how gentle it was, blinded her sleepless eyes, she welcomed the soothing feeling of the morning sun for quite some time before moving her gaze to Liu Zijian who was still unconscious.
"Little Zi, what happened?" She couldn't help herself to softly whisper the questions that kept on appearing on her mind since last night as she walked towards the bed.
Of course there was no reaction.
Her thoughts started to travel to the distant past.
She knew she wasn't able to be a good mom when they were growing up. There was a period of their lives that she's not aware of. Instead of her taking care of her little boys, they were actually the one who took care of her.
One grew up to be sociable and vibrant while the other became cold and reserved. To put it simply, they're opposite but they compliment each other.
She knew she's lucky as her little boys didn't give much problem like the usual kids these days. Although Liu ZIjian character usually invites trouble for young women, it wasn't actually his fault.
Since she didn't like to complicate things, she would eventually pacify the issue.
She was indeed worried that her younger son would end up being alone for the rest of his life. Who would have thought he would eventually get married ahead of his older brother.
Provided that it was in an unusual circumstance, she knew that her son was probably already attracted to Han Meixiu right from the start.
He's someone whom you couldn't force to do what he didn't want to. If he was just following their request, he could actually treat Han Meixiu in a civil manner.
But Liu Zijian's treatment was way better than she expected.
She smiled bitterly as she recalled the different instances when the two were showing the relationship they were sharing. Although the two were obviously oblivious, the other people around them could clearly see how lovingly they were.
Madam Liu started to worry again as she looked at her phone. Mr. Lu still didn't call her. It would still take a time before Liu Zilong arrive. The earliest possible would be late afternoon.
What if Little Zi wakes up? How will she answer him if he will ask her about his wife?
Madam Liu's headache seemed to get worse. She gently massage her aching head while closing her eyes.
She didn't sleep a wink last night. Aside from checking her son she also monitored the development of Ye Ming.
It was clear that he protected Liu Zijian thus he received more serious injuries than her son.
Recalling what the doctor told her earlier, Ye Ming would still be under observation for the next 24-hrs. If he would be able to survive this crucial moment, then he could finally be transferred to a private room to recuperate.
While being lost in her thoughts, the door opened and Mr. Liu came in.
"Go home first and take a rest." He calmly said.
"Did you find out what happened?" Madam Liu asked. Even if she wanted to take a rest, she was extremely worried.
"We found some lead but it's not yet final." Mr. Liu answered. "Go home and then come back later. I'll call you once I get the full report."
"What if Little Zi wakes up? How should we explain that we can't find Meixiu dear?"
"I'll handle him. You need to take a rest." Mr. Liu insisted and slowly pulled her up. As he embraced his wife, he couldn't help to remember the time when she went missing.
He didn't want his son to experience the same torment he did in the past. It was a nightmare he didn't want to recall.
Every single minute he didn't hear anything from her was like a torture to his being. It was actually better that he's still in this state.
"We will find her." He whispered.
"Can you at least tell me what you found out?"
Mr. Liu released a deep breathe before he started talking.
"Han Meixiu was picked up by a medic team. It was said that she 'collapsed' after the training thus she should be transported to a nearby medical facility." That was actually the statement of the one people guarding the main gate. But based from the cctv they saw, she was fine when she went to the resting area. The problem was, the place where she sat down could be considered a semi-blind area.
They could only see part of her body. Thus they needed an eye witness to know what exactly happened to her. And the statement of the guard was Han Meixiu was not moving when he tried to wake her up. The guard thought she must have collapsed a little earlier thus he immediately asked for a medical assistance.
"But there's a medical team in that training area, right?" Madam Liu confusedly asked. Her daughter in law didn't need to be escorted out of the training compound.
"En. But the medic team of the compound already left when it happened. The training already ended about half an hour ago."
"Then the medic team that came in to pick her up, who are they?"
"Others that we don't now yet. I'm thinking that there's a group that has been spying the compound."
Based from the recordings that his people gathered there was a vehicle parked not so far from the compound. But when they checked it, it was actually an ordinary delivery truck owned by an innocent civilian.
When they asked him the reason why he just parked it there and not use it, the man answered that he has two jobs and bringing the truck to his other job was just too inconvenient. Besides, the place where he parked his truck was free as it was not in the main road.
They also checked if the truck has a dash cam but unfortunately it didn't have.
Except from this truck, there's no other unusual thing around the compound.
"Is there a possibility that someone in the compound was connected to that medic team that picked up Meixiu?"
"I'm also looking on that angle." Mr. Liu answered. He already detained those people present that day including the trainees.
Mr. Liu's last order was to buy that truck and disassemble it. He didn't believe that he could not get an answer from that given clue. The presence was just too coincidental.
