270 The Hidden Agenda

"You want me to get drunk?" Han Meixiu asked with a teasing smile on her face after opening the presents Liu Zijian brought for her. 

The slight fragrance of chocolate combined with alcohol made Han Meixiu a bit intoxicated.

Liu Zijian coughed a little as a subtle blush formed. He didn't have any hidden agenda by giving her those boxes. But now that his wife was reacting this way, he didn't want to deny nor admit her claim.

"What do you think?" He smiled as he deeply looked at her. 

The two little buns were sprawled against their father who was semi-lying on the couch potato. 

Normally, after dinner and before sleeping, both husband and wife would talk in the study. Now that they have twins, their venue changed into the twins' room.

Han Meixiu softly laughed. "I don't mind." Her voice sounded sweet and her eyes were sparkling mischievously. 

The two oblivious cuties were busying themselves poking and biting their father as if they really missed him.

Both were starting to form their individual characters. 

Although they were still bubbly and curious with a lot of things, the little princess was more serious than the little prince. 

The latter was also the one who would pester to gain attention not just to his twin sister but also to other people around. In short, he was actually starting to use his cuteness to attract attention. But this action wasn't that effective to Liu Zijian. 

"What's the good news?" Han Meixiu asked after seeing Liu Zijian picked up Little Rong and adjusted her position as she crawled a little farther from him.

"Mother in law is safe. She was with the company of someone."

"A friend?"

"I'm not sure. But at least that person seemed harmless." He answered.  The way the two talked clearly showed they have a special type of relationship. 

Liu Zijian told the entire story to Han Meixiu. After finishing, he looked up when he didn't hear any reaction from her.

He was a bit surprised seeing the woman looking at him as if she wanted to whip him. He wondered why his wife suddenly changed her mood. 

He's already aware of how a woman could change in an instant but thinking back,  he didn't do anything to make her upset.

"Something wrong?" Liu Zijian cautiously asked.

"You asked me if something is wrong? Liu Zijian,  you went there ALONE! You hear me, alone!" 

"But nothing happened..."

"You're lucky because nothing happened! Didn't you promise me you're not going to be reckless? Why didn't you bring other people? Or why did you go there yourself? Can't you..." Han Meixiu couldn't continue anymore as she was hugged by her husband using his free arm. 

He carefully placed her head on his chest and caressed her gently while Little Rong reached her small hands to pacify her mother, too.

"Sorry." Liu Zijian murmured. Even though he wanted to explain, he didn't utter another word except for his apology.

Argument would just continue if he would justify his actions. The best way to live peacefully was to always admit his mistakes, even though it's not really considered one. It's not too bad anyway. 

The little prince who was watching pitifully also started to extend his hands and even made a small sound.

"Maa.."

Han Meixiu who immediately heard him laughed a little. "The little guy is jealous." She moved to pick up the little prince. "You want to comfort mommy, too? Tell your father not to make mommy worry, okay?"

The little prince smiled forming small crescent moons on his face.

At the same time, Zhang Huiling who was on her way to K Country was finally calming down. 

She realized she still needed some answers from that old fox. 

There was still the issue about the incomplete map. Zhang Huiling forgot to probe about it. 

She shouldn't have lashed out and hear all of the things she wanted to say first.

But after all, she already did that. There's no point in wasting time to regret her actions.

She needed to start listing down her new goals. And the top most was the person responsible for her parents' death. She could probably get information about the one who gave the map to her parents from that person. 

She had to admit that it would not be easy as that person is quite powerful. She was wondering if she could use some resources of the Liu Family. But thinking again, it would be better not to. 

She already has information about about him as he's a regular client.

She had to admit, the information the old fox gave her were indeed useful. At least she now has a clear direction. As for the personal grudge she wanted to settle, there would be time for it.

She sighed and lit a cigarette. The darkness in front of her and the sea breeze helped her cleared her mind. 

Sea transportation, although longer, was still safer compared to travelling via air. Besides, there's quite a lot of information she could pick up and process along the way.

As a leader, she actually understood why the former leader acted that way. It was just too bad that her family was the 'victim'. 

When the entire organization was almost wiped out, as a leader, the old fox should maximize what she had. 

Zhang Huiling in reality admired how the Old Huang built up the organization after Liu Family's attack. Although it was a far cry from the glorious days of black.com before the attack, the organization still survived.

Under her guidance, it is starting to get better. The current problem of being monitored by the police wasn't really enough to stress Zhang Huiling. 

She just hoped that nothing will happen that would be out of her calculations.

"Ready?" Liu Zijian who was wearing a dark silver suit was Han Meixiu's escort tonight. 

It's Zhang Yu's engagement party. Although it was supposed to be low key as the daughter of Gao Family, Gao Jingyi was known to be a sickly princess, several important people of Q City still attended.

Liu Zijian came to Q City a few days earlier before Han Meixiu as the latter waited for Madam Liu to come in K Country so the twins wouldn't be lonely.

The light grey colored floor length  dress with three quarter sleeve bodice with embroidered small crystals made Han Meixiu looked regal and sweet. 

Of course, it was Madam Liu who prepared the dress.

"We don't need to stay long. I just want to support Cousin Yu." Han Meixiu gently answered. She knew that recently, Liu Zijian was extremely busy. 

Liu Zilong asked to be free for a certain period of time. Since First Young Master Liu helped them before, Liu Zijian couldn't decline.

Normally Han Meixiu wanted to go alone as her husband needed to take a rest. But Liu Zijian insisted on escorting her. 

"I'm fine. Don't worry."

"Why is Brother Long so busy?" When the two entered the car, Han Meixiu asked. 

There were many times that Liu Zilong would appear and disappear but he never asked for a complete 'vacation'.

"I'm not sure myself. I just hope he won't run into anything dangerous."

"I don't think Brother Long is that reckless. He knows his limit."

"Yes, but it seems something is different this time." Liu Zijian answered and took Han Meixiu's hand grasping it tightly. His brother was a lot more mature now, thus his recklessness was already minimized. 

After attending the engagement party, the two quickly went back home. Currently, only the two of them were living in Liu Residence. Mr. Liu accompanied Madam Liu to babysit the twins but came a day later to K Country. 

The following day, Liu Zijian left early. By the time Han Meixiu woke up, her husband was already in a meeting. That was according to the last the message she received.

After having her breakfast, Liu Zilong came.

Surprised by the sudden appearance of her brother in law, Han Meixiu thought he was looking for Liu Zijian. 

"Brother Long, Jian is in a meeting." She informed the man who stopped a few steps after walking inside. 

"It's a good thing you're here. I'm 'm looking for you." Liu Zilong answered with a slight smile. Although there was a subtle trace of fatigue on his face, he was still as warm as ever.

"Do you need something? Wait, have you eaten breakfast?"

"I ate." Liu Zilong quickly answered and walked a few steps closer.

"Sister in law, did your cousin contact you?" He asked in a little hoarse and aggressive voice as if he was having an internal debate. 

"Cousin?" Han Meixiu looked questioningly at the man while her brain scanned the cousin her Brother Long was talking about. "Han Mingxia?"

The man nodded. 

"Weren't you together? Two months ago Jian said he saw you with her." 

After hearing Han Meixiu's answer, Liu Zilong slumped down on the nearby sofa. 

"She disappeared. I was thinking if she had a hidden agenda while staying with me for a few months."

"Did she steal something from you?"

Looking at her brother in law who looked defeated, she started to curse her cousin. 'What did you do?!?!' Her mind shouted. 

Liu Zilong smiled bitterly before he answered. "Probably she did." He's not yet sure about it. That's why he needed to see the woman to confirm.
