65 The Call

That entire weekend, Han Meixiu didn't receive any call or message from her best friend. She was wondering if something actually happened. She remembered it was her Cousin Yu who escorted Li Xioazhi back to the capital after her wedding.

She tried to call Zhang Yu for a couple of times and finally was able to talk to him after a few days of trying.

"Li Xioazhi?"

"Yes. Cousin Yu, you were the one who picked her up from her training and sent her back, right?"

"That's right but why are you calling me about her?"

"The thing is, she didn't contact me and I can't contact her as well. I was just wondering if something happened when you sent her back or if she said something?"

Zhang Yu became quiet for a time. How could he say that if he didn't 'abduct' her in her training ground that night she might not be able to come to Han Meixiu's wedding. That older brother of hers was resolute to separate his sister from his cousin. Maybe this thing was also his doing.

He sighed before he answered. He didn't want to make her worry.

"She didn't say anything. Maybe she's in some kind of strict training for few months that she could not even hold a phone. For the meantime focus on your husband or make new friends. You're surely hopeless having only one friend."

The last statement made Han Meixiu pout. It wasn't because she didn't want to, it was simply not easy for her to do so. Before her cousin could give unnecessary advice again, she ended the call.

"Something's wrong?" Liu Zijian asked her when he saw her annoyed face.

She shook her head and sat beside him on the sofa.

For the past couple of days they developed a habit of drinking tea after dinner while talking about random things for about half an hour before continuing whatever work they should do. That's exactly what they're doing.

Seeing she didn't want to talk about it, Liu Zijian then mentioned their schedule for the rest of the week and for the upcoming weekend.

They would finally move to their new house this coming weekend but they would be out of the capital for two days as they would inspect a certain property. Normally Liu Zijian could go alone but there's no way he would just let his wife out of his sight. He now has more reason to keep her by his side.

The meeting was about to start when Han Meixiu's phone rang. They're currently on the south property of Imperial Chain of Hotels and it's already their second day. After the meeting they would go back to the capital.

She thought it was Liu Zijian who called thus he answered without bothering to look at the name of the caller.

"Yes, did you forget something?" She asked.

"No,"

A woman's voice? She then looked at the screen and found out it was indeed an unknown number. The voice sounded familiar as well.

"Who are you?"

"Han Meixiu. I need to meet you as soon as possible." The woman said hurriedly.

"You got the wrong number." She simply answered and ended the call. An unknown number plus someone who knew her name but didn't introduce herself was clearly someone who would be shady.

She then put her phone inside her pocket and walked towards the meeting room. She's still in charged of taking only the important points and eventually discuss them with Liu Zijian at the end of the day.

She just barely made a few steps when her phone rang again. When she checked that it was still the same unknown number she rejected the call. But then again, it was persistent. She decided to block the number but a message appeared. When she opened it, her world froze.

'Answer. It's about your father!'

She looked around to find a secluded space but couldn't find any. In the end she went back to the office where Liu Zijian stayed and since the latter was already in the meeting, no one would be around.

She answered immediately when her phone rang again.

"D'mmit Meixiu! Why are you so paranoid?" The irritation was clearly obvious on the woman's voice.

She sounded so familiar.

"I won't if in the first place you introduced yourself! Just who are you?" She started to get angry as well. 'If you're cursed with someone you didn't know and you didn't get upset, you're definitely not normal.' She inwardly said as she rolled her eyes.

"Seriously, you didn't know me?"

"Duh! Would I ask if I do?" She annoyingly answered but she stopped when she realized the way the woman spoke. "Han Mingxia?!?! You're in K Country? Aren't you..." Before she could finish the woman on the other line cut her sentence.

"Wow, thank you! You finally remember me! I thought getting married and experiencing the carnal activity made your brain mushy!"

"Shut up! You think I would even enter this situation if you didn't escape?!?"

"Oh come on, don't talk as if you didn't like it!"

"Enough! What do you know about my father?"

"A lot. But we need to meet."

"I'm not in the capital."

"Two days from now, free your time. Late night better. Alone."

"That would be hard!"

"That's your problem. I'll call you again to tell you the place."

After the call ended she wasn't able to move for quite some time. How on earth she could go out late at night alone? And what did Han Mingxia mean when she said she knew a lot about her father?

Her phone rang again but now it's Liu Zijian. For sure he's looking for her and wondering why she's late.

"Where are you? You're not yet here."

She's right. He was looking for her. It was only for a mere few minutes. Now, how could she sneak out at night? She released a deep breath before she answered.

"I'm on my way. I just forgot something."

"Alright. The meeting won't start without you."

She wanted to answer that she's just an insignificant assistant 'secretary' thus the meeting could definitely start without her but she simply answered, "Okay."
