94 Mistake

While he was still debating on how he should react, Han Meixiu abruptly stood up.

"Meixiu!" He called out when she started to run towards the door. He was able to grab her wrist.

"Let me be alone for now…" She paused for a while as she answered without looking at him and immediately left the study without even closing the door behind her.

Liu Zijian was feeling lost while he stared at her back until she disappeared from his line of sight.

'Did I make a mistake?'

He asked himself.

Was it really better to not let her know?

What should he do?

He closed his eyes and replayed the scenario earlier. What could have the result if he didn't let her read it?

For sure, she would ask questions and he wouldn't be able to stop himself to answer her. Basically it would be the same. She would be destined to know.

Since it already happened, the more important as of this moment was to answer what would be his next step?

He felt that she might distance herself again. They just got closer recently, if she would try to detach herself from him again, what should he do?

After pondering for a while, he decided to ask an advice.

He took out his phone and checked the time. Based from the current time, it should be late night in the place where his brother was.

He could only ask him as his father would scold him sure. He didn't do what Mr. Liu do.

Unlike his father who didn't inform his mother in most cases about what's happening, he did the opposite. He laid down all the information to his wife resulting for an emotional stress for her.

He thought that since Han Meixiu didn't suffer a 'trauma' like his mother, she could handle the information he presented.

If his father would eventually discover, he might be reprimanded for being inconsiderate of his wife's feelings.

He sighed as he dialled his brother's number.

Liu Zilong was currently attending a party and he was completely bored. He thought that he could get some decent information from interacting with these brats but he was wrong.

Normally, information from this kind of environment would most of the time surprise him. The internal struggles of powerful families that were subject for gossips and endless speculations were worth digging up.

There were some cases that it helped them to expand their business if they fully know the weaknesses of their competitors.

This kind of 'job' was suited only for him. He's simply good at socializing with people and he could easily craft a substantial conversation where he could gather relevant information without the other people noticing it.

But tonight wasn't as fruitful as he expected it to be. All information he got was something he already knew.

Women were still loitering around him and he has that flirty smile on his face as always but he's already planning how to end his agony.

When his phone rang, he had a reason to escape his situation for the meantime. After excusing himself, he answered the call while walking towards a quieter place.

He was actually puzzled why his brother would call him.

Normally it was him who called Little Zi and not the other way around.

"Yes?" He said when he answered the call.

There was no response from the other line. Feeling puzzled, he looked at the screen of his phone and saw it was indeed his brother's number. Did he accidentally pressed his number without intending to call?

"Little Zi?" He tried to ask again. This time he heard a deep sigh.

"I think I made a mistake."

Liu Zilong arched his eyebrow as the statement caught his interest. His brother seldom used the word 'mistake' together with the noun 'I'.

"Mistake? About what?" He curiously asked. He looked around and move farther from the crowd.

"I gave her the report."

"Oh,." Upon hearing his brother's answer he deduced right away that his sister in law wasn't able to accept the truth calmly. Even though he didn't know the entire details he knew that the information was not good.

"Why do you think it's a mistake?" He asked.

"I made her cry." Liu Zijian answered. His chest has still this burden that seemingly getting heavier by the minute.

"If you could turn back the time, would you do the same?"

"Yes." He answered. Even though the truth made her react that way, it would still better to tell her.

The First Young master Liu smiled after hearing his answer. His brother wasn't the type of person who could hide important facts from people he cared about. He bet he called him to ask how to pacify his wife.

"Don't worry Little Zi. It wasn't a mistake. She'll be fine. All you have to do is wait for her to calm down. Just be there when she's ready to ask for a hand." Liu Zilong said in a composed voice to make his brother's worry disappear or at least lessen it.

Although he wanted to add that it would be better if he would hug her while she's crying, that kind of adivce might not help his brother at all. He might blame himself even more for not reacting that way as soon as possible. He had to give another option that's more feasible.

Indeed the words from his brother gave Liu Zijian an assurance. Although it wasn't the one that could answer his question, the advice was more beneficial to him.

"Thank you." He said then ended the call. He went out of the study and followed the path which his wife took earlier.

When he arrived at the door he could barely hear outside the endless firing inside.

'Wait for her to calm down.'

The words reverberated in his mind. As for how he would know if Han Meixiu already calmed down, he forgot to ask.

He stood there and leaned his back on the wall as both of his hands were stuffed inside his pocket. He looked regal with a solemn face under the dimmed light from the wall lamp nearby.

Unlike before that he was at lost, he's a lot calmer now.

He was willing to wait.
