6 Chapter 6: After.

The thumping of paws padded across the forest floor with great speed. The other wolf was persistent to catch me, and I wasn't sure what his motives were.

I had an idea on who it was, however, I had no evidence to prove my suspicion apart from the same eyes.

The moonlight was beaming down in an open field, which I had found myself stopping in, before I was tackled to the ground by the stalking wolf.

I was slammed onto my back, pinned to the floor by it's oversized paws. The wolf itself was much larger than I was, it made me look like merely a pup.

He snarled in my face, snapping his teeth closely to my face, threateningly.

This wolf was visibly asserting it's dominance, as if he were an alpha. One that needed to express it's strength towards a female, perhaps it was to do with mating...

Overall, I wasn't sure.

However, I wasn't about to played around with like some toy. I found myself growling and snapping back at him, managing to nip at his fur.

His claws begun to dig into my shoulders, causing me to whimper, recoiling immediately from defending myself. I could smell something irony, before realising blood was trickling into my pristine, white fur, staining it.

Abruptly, the fur seemed to disappear from my skin, and my normal body reformed. Why had this have to happen now? I was about to be eaten, this is just my luck!

The wolf swiftly bit my shoulder, effectively marking me, before it turned and bolted.

Strangely, there was a lack of blood leaking from the bite wound, and what made things worse, was the fact that I had been left nude thanks to my unwelcome transformation.

Returning back to the apartment without being noticed was to say the least, very difficult, and it made the journey take a whole lot longer than necessary. It was already early morning, and the lights were off, however I found a half-eaten pizza on the kitchen island.

After washing up in my ensuite, I slid back into the kitchen and took a slice from the box. Everyone was asleep, so I ensured that I was extra quiet, tip-toeing my way around the apartment.

Early next morning, I got on a black cardigan, a white v-necked shirt and a short grey skirt matched with some black pumps. Oh... and a scarf to hide the hideous mark that was slightly visible through my cardigan. Making my way to work via the bus was stressful enough, I didn't know who knew about what had happened last night. I had to avoid my friends this morning, as embarrassment and guilt surged through me still.

Once I had arrived, I went straight to my office without even a 'good morning' to any of my colleagues like I usually would. However, as soon as I had sat down, I was requested at the manager's office. Damn it...

As soon as I entered the room, I was forced against the wall by Anthony. His icy blue eyes didn't seem so torturous anymore, instead were filled with curiosity as he rested one arm above my head and on the wall behind me.

"Miss Alinsky." He greeted, with a small nod.

"M-... Mister Dalton." I mumbled, averting my gaze anywhere but at his own.

"Why are you wearing a scarf inside?"

"I- I feel cold..." Lying wasn't my strong point, and he certainly didn't look convinced.

"In the middle of summer?" His brows raised and I'm not sure if it was out of confusion or if he knew exactly why, and just wanted to patronize me.

"Ummm.." I was lost for words and before I knew it, his fingers had clutched the end and he swiftly removed it from my neck.

Noticing the dark, purple bruise, he didn't seem very shocked. "Right." Was all he said. Before he could examine it further, I snatched the scarf from his grip and ducked under his arm, slinging it around my neck once more.

"Anyways," Anthony continued and went behind his desk, sitting in the plush chair. "I need you to write an article on the latest. An oversized wolf was sighted on the outskirts of this city, New York." His rambling continued, though all I could hear was ringing in my ears. This was it.

He had only just noticed the blood drain from my face. "What?"

"N-nothing. I'll go get my notepad-" I was about to turn and walk off, before he grabbed my arm. I hadn't even noticed him move.

And I didn't expect him to say what he did next.

"Emilie, did you manage to clean yourself up last night?"
