6 Nameless Goddess

What is man's greatest weakness? Greed, power or lust? All men are susceptible to sin. But in Death's eyes, it is sin that creates men to rise above other, to battle temptation and prevail

Without sin… who're the greats amongst the common?

Just as Death now watches over Edward within a damp hollow tree. The rain has resided as daybreak hits along with the foul creatures.

"Such innocence from this one…" She shows her tender smile beneath the shining sun. The warm rays find their ways between the hollowed decay wood."If he knows who I was… would he be so brave?"

She pauses unsure what to do. "I am the Goddess of Death…yet I know nothing of the life that humans live. The wonderful creations of my sister and I know nothing of them."

"Juliana..." Edward says as he lifts his head from the goddess's lap. But he was complacent that she stayed with him. "You're still with me?"

.

"Ahh, forget what I just said," Quickly he snaps himself out of his feverish dazed.

"I'm sorry," For a second she thought of telling him that she's the Goddess of Death however recalling how the humans accursed her past, she decided not to.

No one wants to die therefore no one loves Death. Out of all the Gods, she is the only one without a rightful shrine to her name.

Edward looks back from outside after stretching his tone muscles. "You don't talk much do you?."

Only the sound of the birds singing their harmony and the silence continues.

"Well, I'm Edward and it seems you saved me twice now." he reaches out his broad hands for her to shake it. "And you are?"

Though she already knows who he is, she goes along with it. "I… I have no name to be called by. No name that you wish to be heard…"

But Death never saved you… Edward, you yet to know it but your soul is damn within a dead vessel. Sooner or later you'll be a walking dead man. "A soul trapped unable to escape… What have I done But it's the only way to find who murdered my sister."

Edward ponders for a second "A woman in dark robes with no name?"

"Then call me by no name."

"Nameless…" He says.

Confused she stumbles at him. "Nameless? Are you naming me… Nameless?"

"Nobody should ever have to name themselves, besides its mysterious, is it not?" He winks, still with his hand extended out, he waits for her to take it.

She takes his hand palming it with both hands saying nothing. A slither of tear escapes her shining silver eyes when she smiled.

"Then I am...Nameless."

While Edward waits for his body to recover some from the battle from the ghouls. Aliyah comes up to him.

"I need to ask something of you." She says, "I require your assistance."

From his lying position, he pushes himself straight. "Are you in some kind of trouble?"

"You can say that I'm lost."

"Sure, I'll help." he plainly says.

Just as she was going to go in an in-depth explanation of the reason why she needs help he simply, agrees?

"Edward you do not understand what I ask of, it will be dangerous, you... you may not survive!"

"I am a soldier… the only thing I know is to fight. I do not fear death."

"You do not fear me?" She stares at him with an absent face then cracks out into laughter. "You know not of what you say, Edward!"

"Hey!? Are you making fun of me?" He says, confused by the situation. Though he doesn't complain, seeing her laugh for the first time.

"Yes! Yes! Because you are a fool!" she giggles.

"I owe you my life… if it is my sword that you need then it's yours."

After things smoothly calm down Aaliyah explains what it is that she needs.

"There's a tale about a gateway to the heavens. I need to find it." she says but Edward can't believe a word of it.

"Ok ok, let's say if that this was even somehow remotely true. How would we even find it? The Gods abandoned us for a reason, right. Why would they leave the door open?"

"Not all the gods hate the mortals but your right, the gateway can only be opened from only by another god."

Aaliyah grips her stomach in surprise. "Edward!?"

"What is it, Aaliyah? Are you hurt?" he says noticing that she holds her abdomen hunching over.

"Yes..., no it's something I can't quite explain. B-but...I think… I'm hungry!?"

Her stomach growls loudly cause them both pause in awkward silence.
