7 Chapter 7

With the activation of the necklace, blinding light flooded the room.

The personal psi-matrix that can only be accessed by me came to life and with it, energies converged and materialized, becoming armor.

First my feet and hands, then my legs and arms followed by my torso and finally my head.

My whole body got covered in gold and blue armor, the standard Daelaam Protoss colours. The face of my helmet had light blue visor along with a small crystal of similar colour on my forehead.

On the center of the chestplate, a big crystal that was shaped like the Protoss symbol shone, while smaller ones decorated my shoulders.

Even though the armor covered my whole body, it wasn't bulky and it even enhanced my agility and speed.

It was a gift I received from Karax, one of the greatest Phase-smiths in Protoss history. It would have also been the new standard armor if it wasn't for two minor 'inconveniences'.

The first was the energies that were required were not something everyone had. The second was it didn't generate a shield. Besides the protection the armor itself provided, the user had to spend their own energy for shielding.

My armament took a total of 4 seconds to be completed and the man just stood there looking surprised.

?: Wh-Who are you? How did you get here?

He took hold of scalpel when the light subsided and saw me. The pitch of his voice was so high it almost hurt my ears.

With a slight jerk of my arms I activated my two energy blades, one after the other.

Voranis: What were you going to do with the imprisoned people? Talk!

My angry voice was made even more imposing thanks to the armor.

He released high-pitched squeal as his eyes darted around the room frantically. They stopped on the blond guy and he immediately moved and put the scalpel on his neck.

?: He he he he How about I tell you NOTHING! And you let me go or else his THROAT will find itself with another hole.

After a few seconds of silence, I deactivated my psi-blades and a creepy smile formed on his face.

I slowly took a step forward and he tensed.

Voranis: It's not recommended, but if any harm comes to that man, you'll receive more than just a little shock.

My words carried a grim promise and lightning wreathed in my hands as I repeated his words back to him.

?: I...I...Ok! Ok! I'll talk!

He dropped the scalpel and raised his arms in the air. And I inwardly sigh in relief.

"Huh? Why is he raising his arms?"

Not understanding this particular gesture, I grabbed him by the collar of his clothes.

Voranis: Now talk! Before I make you look like a scorched zergling!

"Of course I wouldn't do that, but he doesn't have to know."

?: Y-Yes! We h-harvest organs and s-sell them through the dark web!

Voranis: Wh...at?

My eyes grew wide and my mind was blown.

Voranis: You commit such acts...for money?

My voice came out low and soft. I couldn't fathom what his statement meant.

"Money! Always about money!"

I took a deep breath.

"Why am I even doing this? Maybe I should focus on returning back home. Why should I care if Terrans burn themselves? Alarak might even be right..."

Voranis: Where is your communication device?

I asked with a flat tone.

?: My phone?

Voranis: I don't care what you call it.

He fumbled with his pockets and took out a slim device.

Voranis: Call the law enforcement headquarters.

He did as he was told.

Phone: MPD What is your emergency?

A woman's voice came through the device.

I explained the situation. Initially, she thought that this was something called a 'prank call' since I didn't identity myself but in the end she believed me.

I had few minutes before they arrived here. I punched the man in the gut hard and he passed out. I removed the straps from the blond guy but it didn't seem like he wanted to move yet.

I didn't care either way. Exiting the room, I cut open the cell doors.l with my energy blades.

Voranis: Officers will be here in a couple of minutes. I suggest you stay put.

I ran up the stairs finding two men smoking. Using my momentum, I bodyslammed the first to the wall. The second guy tried to pull a weapon but I grabbed him by the face and smashed him to the floor.

Hearing the commotion, another two men came with their pistols raised. They fired a few shots at me but I didn't even flinch.

"You can't do anything with peashooters like that."

I slowly approached them step after step, they turned tail and fled in a panic.

As they were about to exit the room, they collided with the last guy who was running towards here. Taking this chance I fired a weak psi-storm and incapacitated all three them.

Voranis: You will definitely feel that for the next week...

Walking out of the building I could hear sirens approaching m, so I checked around to see if there are any goons remaining and left.

Reaching a deserted alleyway, I deactivated my armor and a wave of exhaustion hit me like a siege tank.

As I began to return back, the chilly night wind blew on my face.

"I don't even know what to think anymore. First, nobody wanted to help me but that was kind of understandable. Then, Lorelei opened her own home to me and treated me like family and Cynthia was worried about me if I had allergies. But then... Something like this happens and I can't help but feel all the goodwill I had for humanity vanishing."

I look up at the celestial body that orbits earth.

"I think they call it Moon..."

I sighed.

Voranis: Maybe I'm just too emotional right now. I should go home and meditate first.

I returned only to find the lights of the house switched on which was strange since it was so late.

I entered and saw Lorelei sitting on the couch with a cup in her hands. She got up the moment she saw me and held my hands.

Lorelei: You're back! You were out so late I got worried. Are you alright?

The warmth of her hands and her words filled me with strange emotions.

Voranis: I am well!

Despite what happened, I couldn't contain the bright smile that formed on my face.

"Perhaps being emotional isn't too bad."
