1 Chapter 1

Kiyah Kol was 16 year old student at Burlington highshool. For the most part she was just like other 16 year old girls, other than the fact she was horrendously bullied by the other students.

It started with small things like her not having as nice of clothes as others and being called out for it. Then it became normal to insult her no matter what she was wearing. From there it became physical, being tripped or purposely bumped into.

The insults slowly became increasingly vulgar and it escalated when one of her bullies accidentally spilt their lunch on her. In truth, it was accidental, but they all found it hilarious and started to do it every once in a while.

One day whilst driving home in her new car, Kiyah's bully spotted her and chose to give her a scare. They aimed their car towards her and accelerated.

Kiyah couldn't hear them as she was wearing headphones and had the music to max, they were also coming from behind and she had no clue it was happening.

Those girls waited until they got close to start braking, however the brakes began malfunctioning. Moving at high speeds they turned the wheel, buy weren't quick enough. The front of the car missed Kiyah, whilst the tail hit her.

The 16 year old went flying and hit her head hard.

As for the car, it spun out and went off the side of the bridge into the lake underneath.

....

When Kiyah opened her eyes again she was bombarded by memories that weren't hers. It was of a girl the same age as her, Kira. She was an orphan who lived in Gotham city, they had practically identical lives. Including the bullying. Although it was safe to say Kira had it worse.

Kiyah instinctively knew how she had gotten there. How she had died. Who killed her.

The anger she felt overcame her and she grabbed the nearest object she could find and hurled across the room.

*BANG* *BANG*

"KEEP IT DOWN IN THERE GIRL!! DON'T THINK I WONT KICK YOU OUT!!" An annoying high pitched voice screamed.

Kiyah calmed down and sat in silence whilst thinking about her situation. She had already figured out that she was in the DC universe. How? She had no clue.

The silence was broken by a quiet giggle which soon turned into fool blown laughter, "π™ƒπ˜Όπ™ƒπ˜Όπ™ƒπ˜Όπ™ƒπ˜Ό, π™π™ƒπ™Šπ™Žπ™€ π˜½π™„π™π˜Ύπ™ƒπ™€π™Ž π˜Όπ˜Ύπ™π™π˜Όπ™‡π™‡π™” π™†π™„π™‡π™‡π™€π˜Ώ π™ˆπ™€!!!! π˜Όπ™‰π˜Ώ π™‰π™Šπ™’ π™„π™ˆ 𝙄𝙉 π˜Όπ™‰π™Šπ™π™ƒπ™€π™ π™’π™Šπ™π™‡π˜Ώ?" Her laughter had taken a maniacal tone.

The 16 year olds mind wasn't strong enough to handle two different horrible lives along with impossibility of dying and going to another universe in one day.

*BANG*

"I SAID KEEP IT DOWN. OR ELSE!!"

Kiyah stopped laughing as she remember something from Kira's life, something very familiar. Her counter part had found a book earlier that day.

Turning to her left Kiyah saw a black note book with the words, "Death Note" written on it in white.

Kiyah had to cover her mouth to stop herself from laughing, although she did giggle non stop. 'Now I have a death note? Fucking hell' She thought to herself.

She knew she shouldn't be laughing, but for some reason all of this was so funny.

Evening out her breaths she reached out and grabbed the note book. As soon as her fingers brushed onto it she felt something in her change, like a switch had been flicked. Her eyesight had improved drastically and the world had become more vibrant. She could even see the individual pieces of dust floating around.

Standing up she rushed toward the mirror on the wall and saw her reflection. She looked very different. In her past life she had been rather ugly, but now she was Asian, had pretty black hair, pale skin and red ey- "Wait what?" She exclaimed.

The red eyes weren't the only shocking change, she could see her name above her head and numbers, "Kira Chen, 28/9/2020"

Kira began to rack her brain and remembered about Shinigami eyes, the eyes that allowed you see a persons name and life span above their head. Kiyah knew the current year was 2007, so she had 13 years to live. She began to wonder if half her lifespan had been taken for such and undesirable situation to occur.

"At least I can speak another language now" she muttered.

The previous Kira wasn't born an orphan and had lived with her parents for many years, from them she learnt to read, write and speak Chinese.

Checking her watch she saw there was still time to go the store. Kira quickly put the death note under her bed. Grabbing her oversized hoodie she rushed for the orphanages front door, "I'm going to the store!" She shouted before shutting the door behind her.

Exiting the large building she was welcomed to the sight of a very doom and gloom city. The clouds, if they could even be called that anymore, looked more like giant puffs of dirty cigarettes. Police sirens sounded in the background, followed by the occasional crash and gunshot. The sounds of trains moving all through out Gotham was clear for all to hear. In the distance there were massive skyscrapers, and in some areas the top couldn't even be seen because of the pollution.

But to Kira what stood out most was the aura contained within the city. It felt like no matter what the weather was like, Gotham would always remain a dark and cold place. Tainted.

Pulling her hoodie up and keeping her head down she swiftly made her way to the store down the road. On her way she walked past a few people and could see the names above their heads, but also their lifespans.

Walking in she rushed to clothes section and grabbed some black sunglasses that couldn't be seen through. Reaching into her pocket she felt some change, but not nearly enough to afford the item.

After a few seconds of contemplation Kira sucked in a deep breath and began to look for any security cameras. Fortunately the small thrift store didn't seem to have any. The guy at the till was grossly overweight and probably hadn't done any running in a few years. Holding tightly onto the sunglasses she bolted for the front door.

Speeding out she sprinted rapidly down the street and manoeuvred through the bystanders. Zigzagging her way around she looked back after a minute or so and didn't see the store owner.

Sighing in relief Kira put her glasses on and went back to the orphanage.

...

Back in her room Kira held the death note in her hand and began to think. "Who to kill first?" She muttered.

The death note had to be used at least once every 13 days or she'd be the one to die. Recalling her memories Kira was reminded of the bullies that had tormented her and made her life hell for over a year.

Grabbing her school pen she hesitated. She had never killed someone, so it was natural to be nervous.

She started to wonder if this was the right thing to do. No. She already knew was the wrong choice, but she also knew she'd do it anyway.

Her past life had taught her that the good guys don't always win. No matter how much she turned the other cheek or put her head down. No matter how small she tried to make herself seem, she was still killed by the bad guys, and they probably got away with it. And now the same thing was happening in this life.

"No!" She whisper-shouted viciously.

Ferociously grabbing her pen Kira began to write with her left hand, "Paris Clayton, cause of Death an accident" She had written unnecessarily large in her moment of weakness, wasting quite some space.

Kira didn't want anybody that could be connected to her in any way to die of a heart attack. She was going to leave that for the strangers of the world.

30 minutes later Kira felt another shift in her body. She didn't know what happened and began to worry, it was as if death itself had washed over her.

Getting up she went to her mirror for the second time. Kira was unable to hold back her gasp when she read her life span "2044" She said with a dazed look.

Her concerning 13 year lifespan had become 37 years. Kira's widened as the implications hit her. "Paris must have had a 40 year life span, and she's currently 16, so I stole the 24 years that she never got to live."

What had been a few seconds felt like years to Kira as one thought filled the mind, 'Am I a Shinigami?' She question inwardly.

Even humans who had Shinigami eyes didn't actually have their eyes change colour, but hers had, and now she was out here stealing people lifespans, essentially becoming immortal.

Standing up Kira closed her eyes and painted a picture in her mind. After a few seconds nothing had happened, but just as Kira opened her eyes the sound of clothes tearing filled the room.

She froze. Slowly turning around Kira saw two massive black angel-like wings. That was the last thing she remembered before she past out from shock.
