81 Scramble

"I'm having second thoughts…Superman-"

"Get on with it." The kryptonian interrupted.

"Can you please listen-"

"We've already gone into the deep end. Hurry up and finish so we can return her."

Martian Manhunter could only shake off his nerves. The tone Kal El was using made the green skinned hero sweatdrop. Currently, the two stood in an experimental room. Alice was strapped to a table as the two heroes loomed over her.

Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern were guarding the door. They weren't happy about it…But this was the Justice League. Batman was in a different section of the Watchtower, observing via the mother computer.

"I can't believe this. This isn't right." Flash muttered. The Amazon pat his shoulder.

"I agree. Clark's action does not resemble the hope he says he stands for. If something goes wrong, we must stop him." She said. Flash nodded.

"Maybe something happened with Lois? He tends to act out afterwards." Green Lantern suggested.

"Maybe." Diana nodded.

Other members of the Justice League walked throughout the Watchtower. Upon seeing the three heroes guarding the door, their eyebrows rose in curiosity. It didn't distract them from their own agendas though.

As Manhunter gained the resolve to proceed, Alice happened to wake up. Her empty eyes slowly opened to a bland ceiling. She tried to sit up…and realized that her arms and legs were strapped. Immediately, she found herself in the Bleeding Heart Chamber.

Superman's face turned into her mother's. The martian suddenly resembled her sister, Ophelia. She was approaching Alice with a heart shaped rod. The beautiful doll's heart rate skyrocketed.

"NOOOOO! I'm sorry! Urghk! Please forgive me! I'm sorry for being a plague! Please don't hurt me!" She wailed loudly.

Both heroes snapped their gazes to her in surprise. The martian's face was aghast. Alice's wails resounded throughout the watchtower, evoking goosebumps. Everyone's hair stood on end.

The trio outside the door were quick to respond. They burst into the room upon hearing the delicate maiden's heart rending cries. As soon as they saw her strapped to a table, they knew this was all bad.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Green Lantern roared. Superman's face fell.

"I-I haven't done anything! She just woke up and started screaming!" He panicked. Diana frowned.

"Woke up? So you knocked her out then?" She concluded with a frown. The kryptonian ignored her.

"Manhunter!" He roared over Alice's horrible screams. The martian raised his hand to her head.

'Do not fret. This will not hurt. It will be quick. Calm…shhh….' He spoke to her telepathically.

It was as if the doll hadn't heard him at all. She struggled fiercely against her restraints. Once his hand landed on her forehead, she grew calm. It barely took a second for her to fall into a peaceful sleep. Only then did Jon finally read through her mind.

A few seconds went by before he yanked his hand back. It was as if something had burned his skin. The hero's face was pale. He was trembling. Martian Manhunter keeled over to the side and began to vomit. His eyes were wide with fear.

Once he found the strength to stand, he turned to the other heroes who were watching in shock. A mix of fury and anxiety could be seen through his expression.

"W-We need to take her home NOW! We've made a huge mistake!" He yelled with urgency. Superman raised an eyebrow.

"Show me what you saw." He demanded. The martian gulped loudly.

"I…can't do that, Clark. What I just saw…nobody else should see. We've crossed a line. We must hurry! Where is that flower?!" Manhunter responded with rage.

"......................." The heroes were silent.

Now that he'd peeked inside Alice's mind, he understood the gravity of the situation. The Justice League would be erased if she remained here a second longer. Finding Darkstar's weakness? Laughable. There was no weakness. Only strength.

If Sora knew about this woman's past, AND he found out that Manhunter had read her mind, only death awaited them. These heroes needed to get moving quickly. More than quickly. NOW.

"Flash! Go get the flower. Now!" Martian Manhunter grew more frantic when seeing their lack of response.

"Flower?"

"Go ask Batman. Quick!"

"Roger!" The speedster accelerated toward the mother computer.

Before the alien hero could continue with his actions, Superman stepped in front of him. Their bodies were uncomfortably close. The kryptonian looked down at the martian.

"Show me." He spoke in a monotone voice. Manhunter sweatdropped.

"I'm sorry, Clark."

With those words, he walked around the powerful man. He failed to see Kal El's sclera turn black. The ground under Superman's feet cratered.

"I'm so close. The champion's weakness…it's so close. You won't deny me of this, Martian!" He growled before turning around.

By this point, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter saw his eyes. The pieces had finally come together. Just one look told the heroes what they needed to know. It all made sense now. They quickly assumed their battle stances.

WOOSH

Superman rocketed toward the green skinned man. It was a high speed grab. Right before he caught Jon, the martian turned transparent. Kal El only grabbed air. Diana was already in midair, descending onto the kryptonian with a heavy kick.

He raised his arms to block, unaware of a green hammer slamming toward his waist. Green Lantern had sprung into action. The kryptonian crashed into the wall, but he hadn't taken any damage. It only made him angrier. Martian Manhunter escaped the room, flying in a straight path to the teleporter.

Superman glared at Diana with anger. Wonder Woman glanced at Alice, who was still strapped to the table. Fighting here would be bad.

'I have to lead him outside.' She thought.

The kryptonian flew toward the Amazon at high speeds. Diana didn't evade this time. He tackled her, causing them to crash through the wall and into the plaza. Only now did she fight back. Both of her bracelets slammed together, sending Kal reeling into the cafeteria.

BOOM

All of the other heroes arrived to see the commotion. Upon seeing an angry, evil looking Superman, they gulped loudly. It was Superman after all. He was the figurehead of the Justice League…and he didn't seem to be holding back much.

Still, the kryptonian didn't want to fight. He needed to catch Jon. Kal ignored the heroes and scanned the place with his x-ray vision. Martian Manhunter's position was revealed. He was flying as fast as he could, but it was extremely slow to Superman.

The angry man burst into motion, flying directly through the walls. Diana and Green Lantern grew solemn. Shit. Hawkman was quick to act, chasing after the kryptonian. Jon was deep in thought as he sped through the hallways. Before he even realized, Superman had burst through the wall.

Two fists slammed into the martian's chest, sending him into the ground. Clark sat on top of the alien hero with a dark look. His hand wrapped around the hero's throat.

"Kyyghk!"

"Jon…Don't make me break you. This is your last chance. I'll make you feel pain until you give me what I want." Superman's eyes glowed red.

Before he could go any further, Hawkman swung his mace. The kryptonian shifted his head and evaded the blow. For the first time in this entire scuffle, Clark finally threw a punch. His fist dug into the man's stomach, causing blood to escape the lips.

BAM

Hawkman crashed through the same walls and landed back in the cafeteria. He held his stomach and curled into a ball. He couldn't breathe…his organs were smashed. His consciousness grew dark. Luckily, he wasn't the only hero fighting.

Several heroes were now attacking the kryptonian, allowing Jon to slip away. His ability to turn transparent was saving his life time and time again. Superman barreled through the heroes and flew after the martian. Right before he caught him again, a blur of red and gold snatched the alien hero.

Flash had saved Martian Manhunter this time. Their direction had changed. The speedster was heading back to Alice. The flower was in his other hand, causing Jon to smile in relief.

Meanwhile, Batman could be found in the computer room. Both of his hands were rubbing his temples. Things had gone extremely wrong. Seeing the destruction that grew wider and wider, he began to forcefully teleport the weaker heroes back to Earth. The Watchtower was compromised. His fingers were now speeding over the keyboard.

"GET OUT OF MY WAY!" Superman roared to the heroes surrounding him.

Red lasers shot out, ready to annihilate anything. All of them were prepared. They jumped, dodged, slid, and rolled away to avoid the death beams. Right before Zatanna was turned into charcoal, a blue light wrapped around her, and she vanished.

Many of them were disappearing, most likely being teleported away. Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Shazam, Cyborg, and Aquaman were all here. This was probably the most dangerous thing they've ever done. Fighting Superman.

"We shouldn't even be fighting." Cyborg commented.

"We're fighting because you won't MOVE!" Superman growled.

"The fact that you can't understand why we're fighting shows how lost you've become." Wonder Woman declared.

And just like that, the battle began in earnest. Everyone was doing their best to survive the trial that was Superman. It wouldn't amount to much. Clark grabbed Green Lantern's foot and slammed him into the ground.

"Urgh!" Blood flew out of his mouth.

Each hero was dismantled without too much effort. It didn't take long for the kryptonian to break through. Every one of them were soon unconscious, but they'd survived. That was a win in their book. It was just Wonder Woman now.

Diana threw her golden lasso as it wrapped around him. Superman grabbed the rope and yanked it, sending her flying toward him. He then caught her wrists and headbutted her.

BOOOM

Her body dug into the steel floor and was stuck there. Diana's consciousness went white. Her eyes rolled around as she came to terms with her new concussion. She was out of commission for the time being.

Superman didn't waste anymore time. He accelerated after Martian Manhunter and Flash. The two were already attempting to remove Alice's restraints. Before they were successful, the kryptonian burst through the door.

The loud noise just so happened to wake the beautiful doll. Her eyes watered up and she immediately cried out. Her voice reverberated throughout the Watchtower.

"SORA!"

As soon as her tearful voice resounded, the surroundings went silent. Manhunter shivered as he felt golden eyes looking at him from an extreme distance. An immense pressure was starting to build up.

"He's here." Jon spoke quietly.

As soon as the martian spoke, Sora appeared inside the room.
