6 Chapter 6 - You are Trash!

Darrien had kept his attention as focused as he could, though getting worried as he heard the odds getting stacked against him each time, his vision seems to blur as the teacher kept bombarding them with more information, he felt his brain melting with each second. He could swear the teacher giving his a scowl during halfway during the lesson, he would look down at his phone as it vibrated, Karen had sent him a text message.

"Hey, where are you?" - Karen

"Oh, testing magical abilities" - Darrien

"... Is that wise, don't come to me crying!" - Karen

"That is not fair, why do I keep you around if you cant even hold me while I'm crying!" - Darrien

"T..That is not what I meant!" - Karen

"Now you are turning against me, who can I look to support me!" - Darrien

"S..Stop twisting my words!" - Karen

"I guess I will just have to walk the lonely road, my warrior spirit will keep me company during the endless nights" - Darrien

"... You are such a nerd, Meet me for brunch at the cafeteria after you are done being dumb!" - Karen

" Ok! Thanks for the invite, I'll have a sausage sandwich and some hash browns!" - Darrien

"Now I'm paying! You are scum, worse than scum!" - Karen

He would put down his phone as he looked up, almost panicking as he saw everyone starting to line up, quickly joining the line as he waited for his own turn. He watched as the male in front of him getting his hopes destroyed, having only 13% affinity with Darkness, getting thrown from the classroom rapidly, to the teacher he was worthless.

"Right, Stick your hand onto the crystal here. It will record both data at once that out arcanist can examine it." The Professor would comment, looking at him with pure boredom.

Darrien stretched out his hand, placing it on the cold stone, strange energy flooded into his body, It felt rather calming and smooth as his eyes seemed to glaze over, his body shivering lightly as in but a moment his world had changed.

He felt the chains binding him, stuck up in an endless desert around him as his body was tied to the rock that was behind him, the humming behind him similar to what he heard before, he could feel the wind brush across his face while the sand skimmed across the endless oceans of itself.

Darrien tried to move, it was almost like his entire body was heavy, filled with water that was stopping his moment, the chains only for decoration as he wanted to get free, his eyes looking around to find a strange sight.

Parasol, table, chairs. Made out of iron, slightly rusted mainly due to the age being in such a corrosive environment of sand. In the distance a woman dressed all in black, wearing something similar to a greaving window's attire, unable to see her face as she stepped closer, the sand parting in front as it showed the stonework below. She would stop a few feet away, head tilting up to look at him.

"Hello Again, seems we are here to play this game again, once again we must start this."

Darrien felt rather confused, he felt Kinship with this woman but in a way he had no idea who she was, what was going on here. He was sure he had not taken any drugs but this was one hell of a trip and very vivid.

"Who are you?"

He asked based on his on instinct, looking at her with confusion.

"Asking the same question over and over, not surprising. my name is not important, we made a pact a long time ago to continue this. You will figure this out in time. The past is gone and the future is a distant horizon."

He groaned gently, he hated riddles and this woman was already getting on his nerves. He looked around before tugging the chains. "How about letting me go?"

He looked back at the woman who seemed also confused, she had tilted her head before he heard the words echo in his mind.

"You are already free, these chains only behind you because you let them. Just free yourself from this illusion"

It was at this moment that his head jolted, eyes flashing as he was back in the classroom, the teacher looking very annoyed at him as he could sense the anger flashing in the professor's eyes.

"You are trash!"

Darrien was confused, pulling his hand back as he looked at everyone who was laughing then back to the teacher and down to the blank crystal he had touched.

"Falling asleep during the test, you are seriously brain damaged, not only that you have had the worst reaction, nothing you are just bad on every level. No reaction on any element or mind powers. You must be dead! Actually, that's not true, even the undead have some reaction!"

He felt ashamed as he would slap his own head, something was going on after he had touched the Echo device, slowly shaking his head as he stood up and quickly walked away in shame, the professor just chucking his crystal with the rest, grabbing the rest of the paper info, tearing it up and tossing it into the bin.

"Shameless"

Karen had no idea what to do, she had bought both herself and Darrien food, yet all he was doing was face planting into the table. If he wanted to eat the table instead of the food she would have saved someone money, sighing as she knew she was about to hit the landmine.

"Are you ok?"

Darrien let out a loud sigh. "I'm trash!"

Karen would tilt her head, clearly confused by this news. "I already knew that. Did you only just realise that."

Darrien stared at the woman with utter disbelief, clearly wondering why he even picked her as a friend at all.

"Look Darrien, you are trash, no magical skill what so ever, clearly mutated by magic due to the glowing eyes but you are still nearly one hundred per cent human and you get averages in everything. No speical skills or talents, you are painfully average or even below average. You do have a nice face I guess but really overall that does not improve anything. Magic is popular right now and with you being bad at it means you are overall a lesser in this new world"

Darrien would spend the rest of his meal sobbing into his sandwich.
