4 Chapter 4 - Why would I Marry you.

It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining brightly as a few lazy clouds moved across the bright blue sky, noises of a busy city around as Darrien and Karen walked together towards the university. Karen looking slightly pissed while Darrien looked rather depressed.

He thought that getting woken up in the morning by a beautiful woman would be more enjoyable, some reason though he was stuck getting woken up by this strange, crazy and firey temperamental woman. After getting woken up, he would argue with her as to why she woke him up with a bucket of water, she made rather rude comments about his personal hygiene then his ability to sleep through an earthquake and then back to her own efficiency to wake him up, at the end of it he had to assume it was just that she woke up on the wrong side of the bed, every morning.

"Oh Darrien, I was thinking. Do you have a job yet?" she said posing a question, she already knew the answer to the question as she had met his so-called boss the previous night.

"Hmm, Oh yes it's a nightclub with vampires I assume. I should be ok for now but I'll possibly look for something else eventually. I think the owner has something for me as she seemed very interested in me, unprofessionally so"

Karen mood seemed to darken as she would shake her head. "I think we should just bite the bullet."

Darrien's face turned to confusion, watching her as this topic seemed to be heading to something strange.

Karen continued, fidgeting as her face turned as scarlet as her own personality. "Well, I was just assuming that you must be struggling for money, selling your body to vampires is not something that anyone wants!"

Darrien felt like throwing up as he heard this next line, selling his body to vampires! When did sell himself to vampires, he was going to work for them sure but he planned to deny all advances.

"I know its strange, you are not the worst human being in existence..."

He felt like smashing his head against the brick wall, saying he was not the worst human being in the world, why don't you stop beating around the bush here you Tsundere freak.

"So I was thinking we could live together. You would have to live on the couch and maybe we can put a cover on it"

Karen would continue, stopping in her tracks as her face becomes the colour of a beet, staring into his eyes.

"What do you think?"

Darrien was dumbfounded, his mind had broken into many pieces as he just thought about this for a few moments, slowly shaking his head as he found this all to funny.

Darrien.Exe has stopped responding.

"Why would I want to marry you!"

Karen felt like a cinder block had smashed onto her, her face growing in fury as she would slowly reach behind her, pulling the blade from her back, slowly raising her head as she had her eyes closed to hold back the tears.

"Darrien. I will end you...D..Darrien?"

When she opened her eyes, looking around at the street, few people looking at her like she was crazy. "Wh..where did he go!"

"DARRIEN!"

Closer to the campus, Darrien would let out a sigh of relief, he had become a master at guessing the mood of Karen, he knew that once she got to this strange, he was going to end up bruised, beaten and branded. He eventually grew a 'Karen Sense' to make sure he could stay away from her wrath.

Stepping into the campus, his eyes focusing on the lines coming to and from the magic block, once the event happened the resurgence of magical ability started to accrue, almost everyone had some sort of magical ability of some description, he knew that Karen had really good ability in fire magic, which caused her temper to be so volatile as well. He was not sure if the magical ability affected her personality or her personality affected her ability.

He would curiously step up to the lines, he knew that recently the government had placed down subsidies to pay for anyone to take a basic magical analyse. He had taken the test when he was younger due to his mother's request, though afterwards she had been disappointed which was one of the reasons he never asked about it, he always found it strange since his mother had some ability with water-based magic while he had none, though he found it was due to him being adopted from a young age, his mother had a close tie with the Blackrose family which was why he knew Karen from such a young age.

Growing up with Karen he had found out that his ability was rather lacking, he had watched Karen set an entire building on fire, the raging inferno destroyed several buildings and items, he had even lost his favourite bike, which he would always taunt Karen about still to this day.

"I could try again, It's free and I may be gifted in something"

Stepping into the line, he would wait, he did not have any classes till later, he walked with Karen to her first lesson but he still had to kill some time, History classes was something he was interested in but in reality he had other interests that could not be done due to his lack of ability. Magic ability is something that one is born, he would be interested in magical or special powers if he had any skill to use them.

Eventually, a strange looking male would walk up to the crowd with a clipboard, his hair frozen to his head, his entire face a slightly blue colour as his aura could freeze someone said, he was rather handsome in his features though his personality was lacking. "Ok, shut up and listen!" he said to gather attention. "Line one move into classroom three, line two move into classroom four, so on so forth. If this is too hard for you, then go sit in the park and watch the butterfly or something easy" He said, clearly thinking that most people here lacked any intelligence.

The groups would slowly move through the crowded halls, eventually getting into each room before the assigned teacher would enter into each classroom, the teacher that came into classroom six would be a very small fairy male, his body about the size of his own hand, his own voice rather loud for such a small person.

"Let me tell you all now. Sixty percent of you will walk away here disappointed, thirty percent will walk away with something and the remaining ten percent will actually have anything of value to the magical community, now let's begin the basic lesson. If you have any questions please keep them to yourselves, for now, I only will bother with the ten percent!"

Darrien held his breath, it seemed that this teacher really wanted to cut the wheat from the chaff, if that was the case then he really hoped he had some skill but he knew that was highly doubtful.

Today was the day he got noticed.
