30 Chapter 30 - Connection Pieces

Sam and Menna had spent a very long time examining each part of the tape, going through section by section to see any possible leads. This was the closest thing they had found to get a lead.

"This is just a blurry recording; we won't be able to get anything from this!"

Menna said bored, clearly bummed out about the lack of evidence in this, leaning against the side as she snacked on potato chips, stuffing more into her mouth as she enjoyed them, apparently this was how her face got so round, her hand shovelling in more food as she groaned at the empty bag.

Sam rolled her eyes as she pulled back the timeline, showing the entire group coming in, the male moving up almost like in a trance as his fingers pressed against the surface of the Echo, the spark is just barely enough to catch on camera with only a split second later an older woman pulling him back.

"You are stupid; It's clear as day." Sam said in a monotone voice, Menna staring at her with a pout. "Well that is rude, I'm average maybe even higher in certain parts!"

Sam shook her head as she pulled back the video again, pointing to individual screens.

"They came in as a group; he was at the back looking rather bored then when his eyes look up at the echo, something changes. You can see that he moves up and touches the device and causes a connect. The echo has done this in the past, while everyone else went crazy or died. He is still alive I assume."

Menna blinked as she then blushed deeply. "You are incredible from just one look!"

Sam stared at her with an almost dead expression. "It's also clear to me that this was not just an ordinary visit, it looks like a school visit since they are all older then I must assume its a university visit. Colleges normally don't have the funding to pay for these trips and who wants to pay to go to an open hall, I assume the university paid for it."

She stared at her laptop which had been running in the background, she had the hunch earlier and had started to use public records on university attendances against the picture she had gotten from the screens.

Menna blinked. "This is just a theory right now though... how can you be so sure that it will pay off..." She stopped after she heard the laptop next to Sam started to beep, the rabbit woman turning to the screen with a smile.

"Because I'm very rarely wrong."

She turned the screen to show an information screen.

"Darrien Lasford, Male. History Major with nothing else wow, he is a real lazy one, not even another course. How is that possible!"

Sam stared at the screen with confusion; she had seen this man before, he was in the library back. He had bumped into her while she was moving to see the Arch Angel.

"Small world huh?"

It would only take an hour to gather everything they needed, making the trip by car was also easy as everything had been planned out beforehand. It would take just another hour as they stepped out onto the campus, students and teachers both staring at the pair as they walked in, though mainly staring at the angel who seemed to wave at them with glee.

Menna's mission was just down to the second part; she was here to located potential angels. Angels came into existence once an already awakened angel supplied the dormant angel with some divine energy, purifying the body of corruption and toxins, the more purification that occurred, the stronger the angel became.

Most Half-Angels like herself only had about twenty-five to thirty per cent purity, it was still enough to gain many perks. If you had over ten per cent angel purity chance, then you had a job for life, security and many other perks. It was a natural blessing for anyone coming to the union.

Menna had found a few who had some ability to become angels, though this was less than a few per cent which was a waste of time for the union, anyone had a slim chance to become an angel, it was not worth the time or resources currently to invest in anything below ten per cent.

She was becoming annoyed as she had nothing to make this entire trip.

Sam spoke to the head of administration as she received the files for Darrien. It was easy with her access and clearance as an agent of the Union.

The file made her eyes open wide as she noticed many missing parts, the basics with dates, addresses and classes remained, but all the scoring, ability and magical exams had been taken away.

Menna looked at her with a frown. "What is wrong, need a poo?" she said teasing lightly as Sam just scowled at her.

"This person is a ghost. Everything before the age of eighteen is just gone. It's like he just appeared into the world at that age!"

She put the file away quickly as this was becoming even stranger, her head shaking as she needed to fill in the dots, something was very odd.

"We still need to find out about that Violent crystal. Which means I need to see... Taki"

She let out a groan as she headed towards the magic department, she honestly hated her ex-boyfriend.

She could also find out if any tests had been done while speaking to the teachers as well. She had some massive holes in her story right now; she just needed a few more clues and then she could figure out what had happened.

Arriving in the magical testing area, she walked up to the main testing rooms, knocking onto the door as she heard shuffling, the door swinging open as a small goblin let out a loud roar.

"SAMANTHA!" Taki let out a yell as he rushed forward to give her a big hug.

Sam stared at him as she gave him a rather cold death glare, Taki slowing down to instead put his hand out, letting Sam shake his hand as he coughed, acting like a good dog who was trained. "Hello, Ms Thorn."

He said while looking rejected.

"Let's stop this chit-chat and get down to business. Let's speak about the crystal."

His eyes started to shine; his plan had born fruit rather quickly.

"Excellent Sam, lets indeed talk. How about dinner as well?"

"Denied!"

"How about we head for a..."

"Blocked!"

"Well you cant say no to..."

"Deleted!"

"Ouch, three rejects in a matter of moments."

Taki moved inside as he took a seat, looking for them to the seat.

"So you want to speak about the crystal?"

"Yes, Please let me see it. You said that the power was spiking between random percentages" Sam would mutter as she took out some items as she wanted to test it herself."

"Well, some things have changed," Taki admitted with a grin.

"What has changed?"

"It Stabilized"
