14 Chapter 14 - Crimson Lies

He had spent the last several hours dealing with drunks, perverts and hungry vampires, he had felt like a rabbit surrounded by hounds and hunters, he knew that he would have to be careful, though maybe he could quit his job and grab a magical scholarship, it was possible if his magic had grew to this sort of power level. He would have to get checked again which he would have to pay.

"Oi! Darrian, stop staring off into space and take the boxes into the cellar, only the cellar do not wander!"

Drax would shout to him as he was busy filling several large containers, vampires chugging them down one after another during a bet, vampires were rather resistant to most poisons and alcohol which meant these challenges took some time and a large amount of alcohol, each vampire seeming to be rather unaffected as they just demanded the others to chug, stains on the table and floor as the drink would go everywhere, each vampire having several human cheerleaders demanding them to continue.

Darrien only shook his head as he grabbed the boxes, lifting the empty containers filled with similar empty bottles, slowly heading down the stairs next to the bar as he bit his bottom lip, the air becoming stale as his foot would almost slip against the wet and slippy mossy cobble below, each one slightly cracked due to the humid air down in the under area, he would almost blink due to the large size, many casks, bottles and holders with many different drinks, the stench of blood harder here as the blood was mixed into many casks and bottles.

"This place can serve so much drink, no wonder everything is so expensive"

He would smirk due to that fact, the humans spent a large amount of money, it seemed they were all hypnotised into just dumping entire fortunes onto this place, it seemed rather sketchy in it all, he would need to find a new job at some point, even if the pay was good, he did not want to end up hypnotised like the rest.

As he made his way along the sides of the room, almost slipping several times as his shoes caught only lightly to the floor, the rough and uneven surface with the slippery wet part was just a health and safety issue waiting to happen, slowly putting down the boxes into the corner, he would hear a faint whisper coming from behind, his body growing stiff as he would turn around to look around the room.

"Who?"

He stopped for a moment as he could not see anyone, his eyes trying to adjust to the poor lighting as the casks only aided in making this area even more spooky. He made his way along the outer edge before reaching to the side he heard the noise, slowly shaking his head as he saw nothing in the poor lighting, another voice echoing in his mind.

"Help.."

He felt a tinge of guilt as he would look around, trying to answer as he felt the moisture drip from his pale skin.

"Who are you?"

He would neither receive a response or indication, slowly using his powers he would use the wind magic to search the area, the light breeze slowly floating into the air as he sense no one, other then the stairs up he could sense nothing, except it was strange, he could feel some of the air slipping between some cracks in the stonework on one of the walls.

Walking over to that area, he would use the same magic before he found a small line across the wall going up to the ceiling and down to the floor, his mind racing as he knew what this was, clearly a trap or hidden doorway that would come to a secret area, his hands moving across the stonework, though before he could even think about anything else, the stone would rumble, slowly sliding along.

Before him was a corridor in the same style to the room he was in, lit up by magical dancing lights that slowly guided him along, he knew that something was up but he could never say no to someone in help, his entire life he lived on the poverty line and had to ask for help from Karen a few times, he had vowed to help when others were in need.

"What kind of lies has this place used"

He would slowly start to descend into the darkness, his steps echoing as the lights danced around him, he would continue to keep his magic active as the air slowly danced around him, going along the corridor as it checked for him, he still could not sense anything as he would continue to descend into the depths of the earth.

His mind would wander to the old vampire stories, about those who had to sleep in the dirt before rising, coffins under the earth to keep out the sun, his mind racing again as he would groan. "Those are just stories, vampires can go out in sunlight just that they are sun sensitive like certain elves, do not believe in fairy-tales now!" he said to scold himself.

Eventually after walking for about ten minutes, the stairway would straighten to a normal walkway, his eyes widening as the lights grew more constant, eventually opening up the path as the poor stonework turned into more finely crafted materials, glass crafted onto the walls as golds and silvers decorated the area.

He would slowly step forward as he slowed his movement down to a crawl as he could feel the wind powers getting into a more open area, slowing down his own powers as he would enter a large hall, a throne at one end and many long tables with chairs on the left and right side, it seemed to be some gathering hall with a throne for the queen or king, he noticed four sets of doors, two to the left, one to the right and one behind the throne.

He was in the heart of this place now, maybe he should not have come here.

"Closer, help me.."

He bit his bottom lip, he was going to be in some massive trouble if he was caught, but he had the wind on his side, escape was its speciality.
