10 Chapter 10 - Bugs! Why did it have to be Bugs!

Darrien felt his mind going blank, this thing slowly coming towards him as he would hold his breath, the wind blowing through his mind as he felt like he needed to run, he needed to leave as his weight was holding him back, the creature opened its horrible mouth as the mucus slowly dripped down those large beetle like mandibles. It's claws snapping open as one would move towards him with a rapid movement, the air getting cut as it smashed into his shoulder.

He would spin rapidly before crashing into the bookshelf, the dust scattering around into the air as the books toppled one after another, the tomes clattering onto the floor one after another as some feel apart and broke due to the poor maintenance of this area, the lights flickering as the wind picked up in the area, the dust and books scattering as Darrien felt the pain gripping him

He would slowly stand up, he felt searing red pain across his left arm, looking over he would see the crimson flowing from his arm and onto the floor, first time panic that had gripped him was released and he held his breath again, the window going silent as he build up his courage.

The strange monster would back up in horror as he was not stupid, the wind was magical power of some description, quickly putting its claws together into a defensive stance.

"Fine human! fight me!"

It was ready, holding itself ready as Darrien stepped forward once, blood dripping from his almost crippled arm, he summoned this strange energy as the wind picked up, slowly coming around his body before he would unleash his power, the strange creature he faced would pull its claws back to protect its body and face.

"Huh, is that all?"

After a few moments the wind seemed to echo and fade into the distance, the monster like creature pulling its claws away confused as it looked around the area.

"Where did he go, that bastard tricked me and ran with Wind magic!" he would screech as he would skitter along, this male was in his domain, he would not get out alive as no one had ever done so before.

Darrien flew for the first time in real life, he felt high on life as he could feel the magical energy flow through him, the air at his feet as he glided through the air, going four times as fast as a normal human running, the air leaving a trail behind him as he would continue to go past book shelf after shelf, dust getting thrown into the air as his face was like a child after getting a toy he already craved for many years.

He would slowly ride up along the walls, flying across the ceiling as he even did a few tricks, he had to remind himself several times that he was getting chased by a blood thirsty monster that wanted to devour him, the air around him almost singing lightly as he would ride across the waves, it was strange when he had found this power, he had almost asked the air to help him, the power had came to assist him and he could use it like he pleased. He kept gliding across the endless air till he rounded another corner, watching books fly from the shelves in the distance as the ugly large monster turned the corner, the dead white eyes staring at him as it screeched.

"MEAT!"

He felt his blood freezing again as he would quickly turn back and flow through the air, skirting around the walls as he tried to put distance between him and this thing. He would turn his head, his face almost dropping to the floor as he could see this creature gaining on him, all the small little legs grappling to the bookshelves, skittering along as it did not even touch the floor, no wonder the floor had no marks, this creature did not travel along the floors at all!

He turned around another corner as he would finally see an open room, flying into the room as he would hold his breath, looking around at the circular room as there was only one entrance and a single exit which was the entrance that he just came through.

This creature had been much longer then he had even anticipated, it was larger then the entire corridor behind it as the large alien like insect body blocked up the way out, it seemed happy as it looked at him with pleasure, it had taken him a few moments to look around at this place and area, it seemed this was the creatures nest.

Bloody bones, skulls and ruined clothing had been turned into this creatures nest, it was living on a pile of bones. It seemed whatever this creature was doing it had lured many creatures into this place over the years, maybe it had some sort of mind magic that had allowed it to lure certain weak willed people into this place and being quiet enough to allow others to remain unaware of its presence, he felt his heart sink with each passing moment as he made a huge mistake coming here.

"Finally, I never expected someone talented with Air rituals, though I never heard you mutter anything I assume you have some item that allows you to do this, no matter you will die now!" it rambled on as it started to come closer, its body slowly filling up the large space as to give him no room to escape.

"You are rather cleaver, staying in here hidden away from all the creatures, it must have been a huge problem to survive against the angels and other celestial orders that are here, the union normally kills mutated monsters like yourself"

The creature seemed to stop, its intelligence clear as it would chuckle, its strange mucus filled mandibles clacking lightly.

"Well you are smart, yes I was not fully mutated when I escaped in here. I found this section with abandoned books that nobody would ever want or need, I then lure people in here and devour them. I've been here for nearly twenty years and not once has anyone been a suspect."

The giant creature would laugh, slowly its large mucus covered tongue would lick over its massive and destructive beetle like mandibles. Clearly thinking about the meal it was about to eat, Darrien had to think fast as the wind came around him, slowly fearing this creature would devour him.

"I think you should be aware. I was sent here by the Celestial Union to investigate this strange area! The aura was so pungent that I knew something was wrong!"

The monster recoiled lightly, fearing its life slightly as it would pull back.

"You are an Aura Master! Dammit why did they send someone now!" it said hissing, Darrien felt his jaw almost drop as this fake ploy seemed to have an effect.

"Yes, So if that is the case. Let me go and I can convince the order that you have use instead of sending in people here to kill you!"

He would place his hands on his hips, taking a step forward with his chin held high, holding his ground as he felt his back drenched in sweat.

The strange creature would stop shaking before it moved slightly closer.

"Wait a second, If you came in here by yourself then that means you clearly have no one backing you up, most officers come in pairs of two and I only sensed you. Either you are lying or no one trusts your judgement which means if I kill you I still will be safe!"

Darrien blinked as he looked in shock at this creature. How did it simply put things together this easy.

"Oh you silly man, you almost had me. Its a shame I was part of the same order before leaving! Aura reader or not, you are not part of the order, they always send pairs of investigators and you would have fought against me if you had backup. Secondly the celestial order does not reason with my kind!"

The creature began to advance again, laughing softly as it was ready to have its meal.

"You have over played your hand... WORM!"

Darrien felt his rage collecting again, he had always hated bugs.

"Bugs, Why did it have to be bugs!"
