1 Dawn of Mystery

Opening up his eyes, the hot blazing light from the sky quickly invaded his sensitive senses and forced him to forcefully shut them again. Perhaps it was the overwhelming stimuli that was popping into his mind or his scrambled identity, but the first thing that came to his lips was a simple complaint.

"This is annoying..."

Although the male figure had clearly spoken out the words verbally, no sound was produced and instead the meaning he wished to convey was simply thrown into the empty air around him. If another being had stood around him at that point, they would have clearly understood what he said despite the fact that he spoke no language. The strange phenomenon went unnoticed by him.

Getting a feeling for his body, he picked up one of his bare feet off the ground and closely inspect the appendage, the pale digits that sprouted at the end of his foot twitched with little range of motion as he tried to move them. Satisfied with the result he then brought his right hand to his face to give it a closer look, opening up his hand he found that these fingers had a much more dexterous nature and were far easier to handle.

The next thought that crossed his mind was the source of his senses, particularly his eyesight. The moment he wanted to take a look at his eyes an issue became apparent, he could not use his eyes to look at his eyes. Taking his fingers to his face he began to trace them around his features, he took an interest in his mouth and nose.

After getting a good idea of the shape of those two features he then moved to his eyes. Poking soft, wet, and oval things on his face he came to the realization that his eyes were much more vulnerable than the rest of his body. Still, it was enough to sate his curiosity on the matter.

Focusing on his surroundings he noticed that he was on a rather high point, as the view went out as far as his eye could see. On the distance were immense mounts of dirt and rock that reached even higher heights and green forests that covered large areas. Small creatures flew in the sky and landed on some of the branches, even as he stood there taking it all in he felt small creatures burrow below his feet as they traveled in the soft soil.

The world was full of life. But that was of no consequence to him, he only looked at a large flat rock ahead of him and took slow steps to it. Giving the smooth rock a small glance, he sat on it and looked out to nothing in particular. The bottom of the small mountain he was on was filled with a thick must that did not grant him sight of what awaited below.

He ignored the small discomfort that the rock gave him thanks to some jagged sides digging into his thighs, at least the cold wind did not affect him much at all as he was able to keep a warm body temperature despite his lack of clothes.

Deep within in, not within his corporal body, but rather somewhere in his very essense, a power raged and twisted with unprecedented density. It was hard for him not to notice it, as it pushed at him as if asking to be released. Still he paid it no mind even as it managed to slowly seep out of him since he made no effort to control the massive energy.

Choosing to continue to ignore the things within and outside him, he was content to sit in silence and do nothing. The strong light came and went over his head more times than he bothered to count, and so his time was spent in idyllic idleness.

"Aran! Get back here!" came the angry voice of Aran's father, choosing to speed up at his shouts she smiled as she passed by the huts of her neighbors.

Each on looked up as she sped through the village and gave her friendly waves, it was a common sight around these parts. Aran was not fond of sitting in her home all day while the men would go hunting, she could only imagine the boredom that awaited her back in her, admittedly large, hut.

The world was far too large and filled with unexplainable things for her to sit at home all day and prepared food for her family when her father and brother came back from hunts.

Although she was disobeying her father, he would only reprimand her once she returned and the cyle would repeat the next day. She could tell that he wasn't truly bothered by her actions, and that was all the leeway she needed. Her mother on the other hand was another matter, still she also seemed to not mind all that much. At least not enough to stop her from adventuring.

Everyday was a new discovery, a new animal, a strange rock, or even loud roars in the distance. It was all meaningful to her mundane life, however something was different today.

Exploring the forest and village outskirts had been fun over the years, but now it was time to get serious. She would climb the mountain and pierce the thick fog that surrounded it. She had always been curious about it, but the stories she had heard as a child stuck with her. Her mother had said that the fog was an evil omen and that a demon lived beyond it.
