16 Prospect

As the sun rises up into the vastness of the sky, the haunting sounds of the night lessen but still remain. The clan of Bloodmaw is waking up to the approaching day, their jobs already evident upon their minds.

The metriacanthosaurus's eyes opened slowly, his body heavily sore from his wounds he had received from the blind rex. "H-huh am I dead...?"

Gambit looked at him fairly surprised he hadn't expected him to wake up. "No, but you about did."

"Huh, who are you?", asked the brute with wary eyes.

"I'm Gambit. Guess you can say I'm a herbalist.", replied the raptor who glanced at Scarface.

"I'm Deviant...", replied the metriacanthosaurus.

Gambit stared at Deviant, it was hard to determine if the guy was good or bad. After all he attacked and killed a nest, which was just something you didn't do unless you wanted to start trouble. The aura he gave off was like he didn't seem fazed by the fact he almost died.

Furthermore, the brute looked like he didn't do anything wrong when clearly he did.

"Well Deviant, want to tell me about yourself?", asked Gambit.

Deviant looked at Gambit, his eyes were hard to read. "I'm just a rogue brute who is struggling."

Gambit was bothered by the brute, he just didn't seem right. "You know you are in a clan?"

Deviant looked around with his orange eyes, he some what laughed under his breath. "No kidding?"

Gambit nodded slowly before looking toward Bloodmaw, "He's..."

Deviant intervened in a deep hushed voice, "What are you doing mate!?!"

Gambit quickly looked at him, "The leader wishes to speak with you once you got up."

Deviant gave a small smile it was rather manipulative, "Come on man! I am still sore! Besides, he doesn't need to know right away!"

Gambit frowned sharply, his awareness was pretty good at determining how a person was. "I am sorry but I will follow the leader and his orders."

Deviant's smile disappeared, his orange eyes hardened. "..."

Gambit looked at him, he wasn't going to be scared by him. "He's up."

Bloodmaw looked over some what surprised but he walked over, Deviant on the other hand looked away not at all making eye contact.

Gambit slowly stood up but kept his eyes on Deviant. "He's known as Deviant."

Bloodmaw looked at Gambit before looking at Deviant, "Tell me what was your goal?"

"Goal?", replied Deviant clearly acting like he knew nothing.

Bloodmaw frowned at his words, the wounded brute apparently had a ego on him. "You attacked a nest, and killed offspring."

Some clans forbid offspring, only clans that are well enough and strong enough were allowed to have offspring. This was necessary to minimize the danger, for the offspring attracted a constant flow of blind beasts.

In well enough clans it was considered a crime to kill offspring, only cause there was so little of those with a conscious mind. Granted many would wake up, but it was hard to determine when they would.

Deviant kept his head away as he said, "It was easy food."

Bloodmaw's expression hardened, sure it happened a lot in this world but blind beast did it. To hear him say this was disgusting to admit. "You are large enough and strong enough to get food on your own by hunting. To feast on a nest is something dishonorable."

Gambit didn't like his words, if that was the case he would no doubt kill and devour Lesion and Jr.

It was dishonorable for the conscious mind to eat offspring, by saying that he did he was still on the blind beasts level.

Deviant looked at Bloodmaw with a emotionless face, he soon smirked at the behemoth. "You saved a dishonorable brute."

It was hard to determine if you made the right choice, but you quickly notice that you made the wrong choice. If this was a life or death situation then you would of been killed already.

Bloodmaw looked at him with a coldness in his eyes. "I did and I can easily end your life."

The smirk on Deviant's face vanished, he stared at Bloodmaw. "Would you."

Both brutes stared at one another, the first one to look away after a while was Deviant. Bloodmaw glared at him, "I will put a stop to you if you do something the first chance I get, I won't hesitate either."

Gambit looked at Bloodmaw, he was happy that he said that.

Deviant was silent and he remained silent as Bloodmaw walked away.

There was no doubt he would do something again, the brute was set in his ways. He was as slippery as a serpent. Clearly his morals were on another level which meant he would be watched carefully and disposed of.

Sure, it was wrong to simply kill someone off but it was better to give them a warning. At least you tried to be civil, and you hope that they would change. But the thing was, some rarely change.

The sun brought on the warm air, the forest coming alive and covered in morning dew. Devastate stopped when he felt hunger in the center of his gut. They had been walking for a while, the events of the night still lingering in the deep corners of their minds.

Belle looked at him worried, his wounded leg clearly was bugging him. "I think we should rest."

Belle had been riding on him for a while, and no matter how many times she would ask he would politely turn her down.

"Baldur won't rest until he kills us, we got to put distance between us.", he replied.

"I know but you will die of exhaustion before he gets to us.", retorted Belle who softly touched him with her hands. "We need rest, you need to treat your leg."

Devastate couldn't argue with that, she spoke the voice of reason yet his stubbornness just didn't want to cooperate with her. "You're right..."

Belle moved off of his head once he lowered his head to the ground. She looked at his face before looking at the wound on his leg.

The behemoth had done so much for them, he put her first before everything else. Belle knew that just by how he spoke to her as well as how he treated her.

Belle blinked when Devastate began to walk, "H-Hey..!"

Devastate looked back at her, "I will be nearby, we need food."

"I-I know but your leg!", she exclaimed in a worried tone.

Devastate continued to walk, "I'll be careful."

Belle looked after him before sighing, she took a deep breath to calm herself. While he is hunting she could be looking for herbs. Why was it so difficult for him to stop and rest?

Belle looked at the many bushes as she thought about Devastate. She knew he was facing against the world alone, he only saw her and only her as important.

She saw him as a kind and gentle being, his heart was no doubt scarred. Belle really wanted to heal those scars, she didn't want him to suffer. Her eyes slowly became sad, she was quickly feeling for him. The behemoth was the only one that she reached out for, that night she saw him as not a threat.

He looked at her with such a broken gaze, she could see the damage done to his heart. Belle was drawn to him, and she guessed he was drawn to her.

It was a strange bonding that they shared but they needed each other. Shifting to another bush she smiled finding some herbs, he would argue with her. He wanted her to have the herbs, food, water, everything yet he needed so much more than she.

Belle didn't know what had happened for him to have such a broken heart and gaze. How badly she prayed for him to be happy and not have to worry about her or anything.

Belle had a family, but she didn't know if he had one. She never asked him and she probably won't ever ask unless he said it was okay.

Belle looked back fast at a sound, she looked around with the herbs in her hands. The bruises on her body wasn't as bad, she was glad to feel better. Though, her balance was a wreck due to her broken tail.

Speaking of family, she didn't know where her family went, they all escaped together. She helped her little brother escape for he fell behind, which caused her to not escape. At least they were okay, or she hoped they were.

Another strong sound happened which made her look around her. Belle was surrounded by a wall of trees, the trees providing cover to those blind beasts. Holding the herbs close to her chest, she relied on her sharp eyes for any signs of movement.

Belle literally jumped when a tree collapsed behind her, she quickly turned around and looked up and sighed in relief to see Devastate. "You scared me!"

The behemoth had caught a blind gallimimus and he dropped the lifeless animal in front of her, "Sorry I got turned around. You go ahead and eat first."

Belle looked at the dead animal before looking up at him, "I will eat but please let me treat your wounds."

Devastate looked at her before sighing, he knew she would never drop it. She was quite persistent. "Okay."

Belle watched the behemoth lay down and he sighed, she guessed his body was happy to somewhat rest. She approached him, and as she did she couldn't help but look him over.

He was so much bigger than her, but she was not scared of him. Belle looked at his missing limb, it was not bleeding which was good. "I hate that you are missing your arm...", she softly spoke.

Devastate huffed out, "It was not useful."

Belle looked at him as she stopped in front of his wounded leg, "But it was apart of you."

Devastate looked at her and he looked away, "..."

"It doesn't matter if it was useful or not it was a part of you. A part that was important, all about your body is important to me." , she softly spoke as she applied the herbs to his wound, she did it with care so not to cause pain.

Devastate scowled at what she said, the things that came out of her mouth always made him feel funny. Her words affected him so much, one word from her was enough to make his heart want to burst out of his chest. The behemoth only felt like that from his mate, now he was getting that from Belle.

"Stop it.", he spoke out as he tried to think about something else. He always did this with her, and she would always continue.

"You're important to me.", she softly spoke with a smile.

Devastate flicked his massive tail, his face was now a funny scowl. His reaction made Belle smile and softly laugh. Her laughter was music to his ears.

The day brought a new chapter to some, while to others a new day can mark the end for a unlucky number of few.

A fallen clan was a horrible sight to uphold, bodies littered the floor. Those bodies were from a courageous few who fought for their clan with the last remaining life they had.

Baldur smirked walking through this clan, a clan that was fairly stable stood little chance against a tyrant with a taste for blood. The injuries from Devastate were about all healed but his punctured eye still remained.

Sawtooth smirked, they had captured the females of the fallen clan and the youth which were all teens. Baldur laughed looking at the carnage that him and his clan had caused.

Those captured would be forced into serving his clan, those who would try to escape would die a slowly yet painful death.

"I could get use to this.", chuckled Baldur as he looked at his clan he lifted his head up and smirked. "Soon everyone will submit to me and my power."

The fear would continue like a raging fire, it would soon consume many in its inescapable hold. Baldur will rule many lands until all know of his name, and he will kill all who will get in his way.
