12 Construction

Swiftscale slowly came to a stop, his eyes looked between Grim and Ebony. The baryonyx some what jumped when Lesion and Jr ran into him.

Why was he so jumpy? Again, his eyes moved to where Ebony and Grim were. He didn't know why but he couldn't stop looking at them.

Ebony took notice of the behemoth approaching her, and right away her face hardened.

Bloodmaw was to focused on how they were going to make this valley their home. Work was definitely needed to make this place into a safe haven. It was going to be difficult but it would be well worth it.

Not having to move around so much would be a nice change, and if they succeed then the future for them was going to be strong.

"What?", exclaimed Ebony rudely as she looked at the behemoth before her.

Grim snorted loudly to her rudeness, "Drop the attitude."

Ebony glared at him as she snarled loudly, "I can drop it whenever I want!"

It was surprising to hear Ebony scream, she was clearly not happy with Grim.

Scarface looked over at the two, he blinked his eyes fast. Gambit sort of whistled acting like he couldn't hear them.

Grim frowned before looking to the side, he seemed rather submissive to Ebony. Of course Ebony noticed this and she blinked looking greatly astonished.

Swiftscale looked at them and he looked to the side, he didn't know why he felt his chest squeeze.

Sometimes it was hard to find that special someone who you wish to spend time with. Romance was not uncommon, but it didn't happen often due to everyone fighting for their lives.

Love was a strange thing, and some don't even know if they were falling for someone.

Bloodmaw looked over at Grim and Ebony, his cranium shifted to look toward Swiftscale who seemed to be uncomfortable.

Swiftscale blinked when he noticed that Bloodmaw was walking over to him.

"Help me set up the camp.", spoke Bloodmaw who walked away.

Swiftscale of course followed while his gaze glanced behind him.

Gambit watched after the youngsters, clearly he didn't want to eavesdrop on the conversation. Scarface looked after Swiftscale and Bloodmaw, he some what felt bad.

Gambit had teased Swiftscale and Ebony, but that probably encouraged the baryonyx to look at her. Knowing that now Scarface couldn't help but feel the way he did. After all the three brutes were pretty much in this together.

Wanting his comrades to be happy was something he wished for, though wishes were not true. Things just didn't happen no matter how much you pray or wish for them.

"I suggest you don't let them bother you.", spoke Bloodmaw looking ahead.

"Huh?", responded Swiftscale who looked at him.

"Grim has always looked after Ebony, guess you can call it a infatuation?", chuckled Bloodmaw.

Swiftscale looked shocked, "So they are..?"

Bloodmaw shook his head, "They aren't together. Grim has always tried to cross that line but Ebony keeps turning him down."

Swiftscale blinked in silence before asking, "Why does she turn him down?"

Bloodmaw looked around before he replied, "She was already in a relationship but as you can imagine she lost her mate. When the raid happened."

"Oh, and you don't know if he is alive or not?", responded Swiftscale.

Bloodmaw frowned before making a mark on the ground with his feet, "She is probably holding on for him, though deep down I think she knows."

Swiftscale looked down, he understood what Bloodmaw was saying all the while he felt bad for Ebony. She was so outgoing only cause she was hiding her fear of loneliness. She didn't want to accept that her mate was dead.

Not knowing if they were dead was pretty much a guarantee that they were. They had waited for survivors and no one showed up. The possible chance that the survivors had survived was faint and for all they knew they ran off and met up with another clan.

Swiftscale looked at him as he nodded before walking and making marks on the ground. They were planning out the size of their camp, by doing this they can determine the size of their territory.

The day was going strong, it was now the afternoon and the camp layout was already decided and marked. All they had to do was make the walls much like Crusher had done.

Bones were always useful, they could use trees but that made to much sound. Bones were usually left behind, and those were the ones they tended to use.

Hunting was a good source of bones as well, the blind were plentiful. Not having remorse for killing the blind was good, since the blind showed no mercy for them.

In time the camp will become an actual safe haven for them, and who knows they may encounter others who wish to join them.

Everyone worked hard in making this camp a reality, it had plenty of land and shade due to the trees around. Water was practically secure thanks to a large waterfall and stream.

Grim had left to go hunt alone, Ebony was helping everyone else in securing and making the camp.

Swiftscale looked over at Ebony while moving a bone that he had held, Grim was hunting for both food as well as bones.

The youngsters ran around, they were putting their energy into playing and practicing their stomping skills.

"Hey, are you alright?", asked Swiftscale.

Ebony blinked looking up at him, she smiled. "Yeah."

Swiftscale looked down as he moved the bone down to the ground. "I'm glad."

Ebony looked at him before saying, "I turned Grim down again."

Her response made him look at her, he genuinely looked surprised. "Oh...?"

Ebony nodded as she looked down, "He is a headache but his feelings are genuine."

Swiftscale looked at her before looking away, "Hey, it is okay."

Gambit was gathering herbs, he had good eyes for finding wild herbs. He was placing the herbs in a pile from weakest to strongest.

"Have you ever thought of being a herbalist?", asked Scarface watching him.

Gambit sort of laughed, "Really?"

Scarface nodded, "You have a knack for finding herbs so yeah?"

Gambit kept laughing, "I'll take that into consideration?"

Ebony looked up at Swiftscale before asking, "Have you had a mate before?"

The baryonyx fumbled with the bone he had before looking at her in shock. "Why?"

Ebony giggled, "Just curious?"

Swiftscale looked away shyly, "No, I kind of been to busy to find a mate."

Ebony laughed before saying, "You may find someone before to long."

Swiftscale murmured out to himself, "I probably already have..."

"Hm, what did you say?", asked Ebony which made the baryonyx flinch and drop the bone.

"N-Nothing!?!", replied Swiftscale as he quickly picked up the bone he had dropped.

Ebony laughed in amusement as she watched Swiftscale, "I don't know what is wrong with you?"

Swiftscale was as red as blood, "I don't know either..."

Gambit kept sorting the herbs as he spoke, "Get a nest you two."

Swiftscale looked at Gambit in pure in utter terror while Ebony stopped her laughing and looked puzzled. "Wait which two?", she asked.

Scarface looked at Gambit like he couldn't believe what he heard. "..."

Bloodmaw laughed loudly, "I second that!"

Swiftscale hid his face behind the bone looking like a mess. "...~"

Ebony was beyond confused, "Boss!?! What are you talking about!?!"

To be able to kid around and laugh was a good sign, it just meant that luck was on their side. The clan was small but in time it will grow, and when it does will the dream become closer within reach.

The thick trees took on the harsh laughter of a large clan finding humor in terrorizing the weak. The carnivores of Baldur's clan were painted in red tattoos, these tattoos showed their devotion to the leader.

Devastate was within the camp with everyone else, his body was also painted in red tattoos. The behemoth looked at Baldur who smirked looking at the tattoos he wore.

"Red looks good on you.", smirked Baldur.

Devastate nodded, "I agree."

Baldur laughed as he looked to the side, "Why don't you join me in my cave later?"

Devastate looked at him, he looked at the waterfall in silence. He usually turns in at night, only because he can't leave Belle alone for to long.

Baldur looked at Devastate as he smirked coldly, "You deserve a reward! I will give you a female to beat up!"

Devastate blinked at him, "I couldn't possibly."

Baldur laughed loudly as he nodded, "I told you I would reward you, damn right I will!"

Devastate didn't like the sounds of this, he couldn't hurt someone like they did. If he didn't though then Baldur would question him.

Sawtooth smirked a twisted grin, "Hey why don't we give him punishment duty?"

That suggestion made his stomach turn in disgust, he could never punish those that escaped. Devastate looked at Sawtooth as he spoke, "I would probably be better off beating up a female."

Baldur grinned as he looked at Devastate, "Hey, why not do both?"

Devastate looked at Baldur with a blank look, the feeling in his stomach grew worse. They had no remorse no matter who it was. The behemoth didn't want to do it, by merely pretending he was one of them did it put him deeper into the hole.

Baldur looked at Sawtooth who enjoyed that suggestion as a cold grin came out upon his face. "After all it was thanks to Devastate that we are here now!"

Devastate felt like vomiting, he didn't want to do anything to anyone. The behemoth didn't say anything as everyone else laughed and cheered. This was horrible, it literally was a never ending hell.

"When do you want me to do this?", asked Devastate.

Baldur smirked looking upward, "Tonight of course!"

Sawtooth nodded with a demented smile, "Nighttime is the night where nightmares become a reality!"

Baldur laughed loudly, "Better to be more than a monster right!"

Devastate nodded as he began to walk away, "I will be here tonight"

Baldur blinked, "Whoa, where you going?"

Devastate looked at Baldur as he spoke, "I am going to rest, I have hunted a lot for you."

Baldur stood up as he moved in front of him, "How's your arm?"

Devastate blinked, "It is...!?!"

Baldur smirked as he used his claw to cut off Devastate 's broken limb. "There, now you don't have to rest."

Devastate looked down, the blood pouring from his missing limb. The pain was quite dull but it grew with each passing second.

Sawtooth looked quite surprised before smiling, "You really want him to stay huh?"

Baldur smirked as his arm wrapped around the behemoths shoulders, his claws tapped his back. "Of course, besides I won't let him run away from my rewards!"

Devastate looked at Baldur, his chest burning in pure anger. The hate that steadily grew became as hot as lava flowing from a volcanic eruption.

But he kept his cool, he didn't lash out.

"I was about to do that myself.", spoke Devastate coldly.

Baldur grinned as he removed his arm off of him, "Good, I am not much of a fan of limp limbs. I like it best to have scars."

Speaking of scars, the wounds he had gotten from Crusher were gone. There was no sign that he was hurt. Baldur looked to be fully healed and it only took him a couple of days.

Baldur smirked walking toward his cave behind the waterfall, "I want to repay you for everything. You always leave before I get the chance."

Devastate followed him, the blood from his missing arm continued to fall. In time the blood would stop, the pain along with it.

Baldur smirked looking back at Devastate, the waterfall roaring powerfully. "I kind of want to give you a promotion so..."

Devastate blinked, before him was a rex skull. "What...?"

Baldur grinned as he picked up the skull, "This is your leaders skull. I had fun pulling it out. I want you to wear it, and with it the position of second in command."

Devastate silently stared at the skull Baldur held before him.
