1 Chapter one

"Good morning David" my mother exclaimed as she pulled the curtains of the window next to my bed.

"Good morning Mom" I replied

"Had a bad night ?" She asked me as she saw that I was sweating.

"Yeah" I replied in a weak voice.

"What happened?"

"I saw that weird dream" I replied looking into her soothing eyes. "It is the same dream that I had been seeing for the past couple of weeks"

"You mean ..... the one you told me last Friday?" She asked, pacing the room towards my bed, ".... about you getting lost?"

"Yes, but I cannot remember anyone in the dream .... the only person I remember is you and dad." I told her as she pulled into a warm hug.

"And what was I saying?"

"I shall look after you dear .... or something like that " I tried to quote the exact words. But I could not remember them. " And I do not understand why you told that! "

"It's just a nightmare David! " Mom exclaimed with a sudden laugh and pulled me out into her hands. "I will never leave you dear! .... I promise! ...." She said looking into my watery eyes.

"Lynda! Are you there?" I heard dad calling mom as he climbed up the creaking staircase.

"I am here Peter!" Mom called back.

"Morning David!" Dad exclaimed as he entered the room.

"Morning dad!" I replied and got out of bed trying to hide the tears in my eyes. "Are you going somewhere?"

"Yes my dear .... I have to go to the ministry of magic for a small errand." Dad replied as he paced towards mom. "Lynda, I need to talk to you."

"Sure!" mom replied to dad and turned towards me "David, .... get ready and come down for breakfast."

An hour later....

I was seated with my mom at the dining room. Mom had served everyone a bowl of corn soup. It was so delicious that I had to ask for another bowl, which my mom refused. Dad had gone to the ministry when I came down for breakfast.

"Mom, where is dad?"

"He is at -- " before she could finish her sentence dad had apparated into the dining room.

"Hello!" he exclaimed.

"Hello dad!"

"He was just asking where you were."

"I was at the ministry of magic" dad expressed "Didn't I tell you when I was leaving?"

"Oh! You told but I forget," I told him and he nodded back. "Mom?"

"Yes dear,"

"Can I go to the front yard?" I asked with a pleading expression on my face.

I wanted some time alone. So I thought of going for a walk through the garden that my mother had made using her anonymous power, which she had never told me.

"Alright dear." Mom replied with a silent laugh.

I stood up to go but mom called "David,"

I looked back at my mom "Yes mom,"

"We want to talk to you about something," she claimed "I think that it is time to tell you about it."

"About what?" I asked silently.

"That your mom is pregnant." Dad evaluated looking at mom with a broad smile on his face.

"Dad, what do you mean by pregnant? " I asked confused,

"It means that you are going to have a new family member" Dad explained.

"WHAT?" I remarked, my eyes almost dropped from their sockets.

"Yes my dear, you are going to have a sweet little sister." Mom declared as she surveyed my shocked face.

"When?" I questioned, getting overjoyed.

"Very soon." Mom and dad exclaimed at once.

A SISTER! WOW! I thought.

"That's great mom!" I stood up from my place with my heart being conquered by happiness and walked around the dining table towards mom and dad, who stood up as I approached them.

"Mom, Dad, I love you!" I exclaimed and pulled them for a warm hug.

"We love you too dear!" They replied.

We stood there in the vast dining room enclosing each other for a long time.

"Alright! Alright! Let's not become too emotional!" Dad exclaimed after a while.

Me and mom pulled out and laughed.

"Mom, I am going!" I exclaimed as I ran out of the house.

"Alright dear!" Mom shouted back from the dining room.

The sun's glare stroked my face as I ran out to the huge front yard that stood before the large mansion-like building which rose high up into the sky.

The smell of flowers flooded my nostrils as I walked into the garden in which fairies hovered above rose bushes, cutting roses.

As I walked past the bushes a fairy named Florence came towards me. I came to her every time I need help.

"Hello David!" She said hovering over my shoulders.

"Hello Florence,"

"What brings you here?" She asked.

"I just wanted to talk to somebody and share my thoughts." I replied.

"Why don't you share your thoughts with me then?" She asked as she put her feet on the soft ground and stood next to me.

"My mom says that I am going to have a little sister,"

"Wow, that's really amazing!"

"Yeah it is!" I confessed.

"So what's the problem?"

"It's just that ..... " I took a deep breath and look at her magical face which sparkled like stars in the midnight sky.

"Don't worry David, everything is going to be fine." she assured and smiled.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Well ..... it's just the nature of all living things." she explained. "I was also stressed when I heard that my mother had given birth to a boy who was to be my little brother! Boys are very annoying when it comes to brother-sister relationships. However, it turns out to be that my little brother is the most friendly, caring, and loving brother that I had ever seen!"

"Really?" I asked disbelieving.

"Yes,"

"Alright then, we will see how strong my brother-sister relationship will be."

"I have to go back to work, David." she said and rose up with her wings beating gently. "Come and ask me if you need any help, okay!" She exclaimed and flew towards the rose bushes.

I scanned the grounds and found that there were fairies all around the garden, sitting near rose bushes collecting roses and binding them together with ropes. As I examined them, I saw a fairy who brought ropes out of nowhere and used them to bind the roses into a bouquet of flowers which were then taken by another fairy into a small shed next to the rose bushes.

"Mom," I called as I approached the living room where my parents were seated on the couch, reading the quotidian seer.

"Yes dear,"

"Can I borrow your spell book?"

"Sure, but do not do anything dangerous." She insisted.

"Yeah! I wouldn't dream of anything that is in the restricted pages of the book," I promised.

"Anyways, would you be able to come with me to help me master some spells from this book?"

"Sure," she said " but I will be back in a while, meanwhile you can go through the book,"

I nodded and went out of the living room and up the creaking staircase to my bedroom. As I opened the door to my bedroom, a warm breeze welcomed me with the smell of hyacinth flowers. Closing the door behind me, I went towards my study table and sat down with the spell book.

"Robustio," I recited "a spell used to send flares up into the sky."

"That's interesting. I have to try this." I stood up and went towards the window and steadied myself into position. My wand was held with my right hand and I recited the incantation.

"Robustio!" I exclaimed. But nothing happened.

"ROBUSTIO!" I shouted. At once a spark burst into life about a metre away from me. To my astonishment it shot towards me instead of going up the sky. I jumped out of the way trying to avoid the lightning bolt.

Two things happened at once. Firstly, mom had burst into the room, and then the lightning bolt hit my bedroom floor, revealing a creature on the spot where it landed. A creature -- A SCORPION!

"MOM!" I shouted as loud as I could and ran towards my mother and hid behind her. She wasn't at all worried or scared of it. "A SCORPION!" I exclaimed.

"Dear, it's nothing to worry about," she said in a calm voice. "Do you see that it has a piece of parchment in it's pincers?"

"Yeah," I said observing it's pincers. "You want me to --" The scorpion moved towards me so fast that I could not finish my sentence. And it stopped in front of me and dropped the parchment onto the floor.

"From the great headmaster of Cloxford school of witchcraft and wizardry!" The scorpion stated in a steady tone -- which is unbelievable!

I retrieved the parchment from the floor and opened it.

"Good morning David,

"Hope you are fine. I am writing to you in order to invite you to the Cloxford school of witchcraft and wizardry. Hope you will except my request and be at my office tonight.

Hope to see you soon,

Professor Ratchel. " I read it out loud.

"Do you have any replies for professor Ratchel?"

"Sure, I will be at his office tonight!" As I responded, the palm-sized scorpion disappeared into thin smoke.

"David!" Mom called making me jump off my skin.

"Mom, What was that?" I asked "How was that able to speak to me?"

"David, no worries, it's just an Acculator." Mom explained. "Acculators are used to send message to people who are far away from you and they are also known to be your personal protectors."

"Really?" I asked unbelievably "Do you know who my Acculator is?"

"Yes, but I am not supposed to reveal it to you, "she said "You will be notified by an oracle after you complete the ALLOWs at Cloxford school of witchcraft and wizardry."

"Dad!"

"Yes dear," Dad responded as he came up the creaking staircase.

"What do you mean by ALLOWs?" I asked him as he entered my room.

"Alright, let's sit down and talk about it" he said motioning me to sit next to him on the floor.

"Lynda, you can sit on that chair," he said pointing at my study table's chair.

"And what are you going to do?" She asked teasingly.

"Just listen Lynda!" Dad exclaimed. "Well what was your question David?"

"What do you mean by ALLOWs?" I repeated.

"It nothing but an abbreviation used to illustrate the final examination of your carrier." Dad evaluated. "ALLOW stands for adequated leader's level of witchcraft and wizardry."

"Adequated Leader's Level Of Witchcraft and wizardry." I repeated. "Dad, when am I going to go to school?"

"When the time comes you will be notified," Dad responded with a wide smile on his face "It might be next week,"

"Next week!" My heart skipped a beat as he announced it. "Dad, don't tell me that it is true, I can't go to school next week."

"Calm down, David." Mom declared. "Do you know who's Acculator that was?"

"It is the Acculator of Professor Ratchel's, right?"

"Do you know who he is?" Dad asked.

I shook my head looking at my parents. "No,"

"He is one of the greatest wizard known in the history of magic. He is the Headmaster of Cloxford school of witchcraft and wizardry. " Dad explained looking at me as if he is teaching one of the most important topic in the world. I could feel the importance of the subject by the stern look on his face.

"Oh, now that means that Professor Ratchel has invited me to come to the Cloxford school of witchcraft and wizardry!" I exclaimed "Does this means that I have been enrolled as a student at Cloxford -- "

"Yes!" Mom and dad shouted at once.

"And we are proud of you dear!" Dad said with his calm voice.

"Dad, how are you able to change your expressions so fast?" I questioned.

"Do you know that every witch and wizard has their own magical power?" Dad asked me and I nodded. "So do I have, my power is to change peoples reactions,"

"That means you are a telepathist!" I exclaimed. "You can control people's thoughts and feelings with your mind right?"

"That's it David!" Dad ad remarked "You have understood your lessons right!"

"I read about magical powers from a book that I found in the library last Monday." I explained. "That's where I understood about the magical abilities of witches and wizards."

"Which book?"

"The powers of the wizarding world."

"How was it?"

"It was informative," I stated "I also found out that students are able to develop their powers at their solitary age."

"Do you know what the solitary age is?"

"Twenty right?" I asked.

"Yes, you will develop your magical power when you are 20 years old." Dad said.

"What power do you think I will have?"

"I don't know, may be wood bending." He said as he stood up from his place and went out of the room.

"Mom, what do you think?" I asked mom as she stood up from her seat.

"David, you will know when the time comes." She said.

"David, get ready!" I heard dad calling from downstairs. "Hurry up, Its almost dawn!"

"Yes dad!" I called back looking out of the window to see the beauty of the sunset.
