10 Act: 3 Part: 1

David rubs his temples, obviously irritated by this situation. "This is bullshit..." Connor just shakes his head, "You're the one who made the decision, it's not up to me!" Murphy looks to Connor, then to David. He scratches his scruffy beard, "I don't know David, that's a risky move..." David scratches his neck, deep in thought, Connor stares him down confidence filling his eyes. David finally returns his gaze, "B5!" Connor just laughs, "Miss." David almost jumps from his makeshift seat, "Bullshit it's a miss! I've missed the last 5 shots!" Murphy puts a hand on David's shoulder, "Listen, the kids playing fair, I promise." David just shakes his head, "Yeah right..."

David, Connor, and Murphy make there way back to there makeshift camp in an old building outside of the city they're heading through next. David walks in, first being greeted by AJ. She gives him a quick kiss on the cheeks then looks to them all, "So anything good?" David nods, "Found an old thrift shop, the back had a bunch of old board games." AJ looks through them. "Well, it will definelty help keep people entertained." Before David can reply, Gideon walks forward taking them by surprise, "Yeah, board games, wonder how those will take over a nice fire." He says sarcastically. Ever since Ryan's burial, Gideon refuses to believe that he had put David in charge before he left. "Gideon, calm down, people are getting bored and we have food." Gideon shakes his head, "We need more, we can't keep standing around here with our thumbs up our asses." David stares Gideon down, "What's the rush?" Gideon just sighs and rubs his eyelids. "It would be better if we all got moving before raiders staring kicking down our door." Murphy steps forward, "The man's gotta point David, we've sit around here for long enough." David rubs his neck, "Fine, we'll do one more run tonight and in the morning we pack up and leave."

Everyone nods, agreeing with this plan. Gideon offers to head back out with Connor and Murphy to collect supplies. David allows it and decided to check in with everyone and let them know that in the morning they're moving out. David first finds Jay with Ana at his side, checking Lily's baby bump. David pulls Jay aside while Ana sits and talks with Lily, "So how's it looking?" Jay turns to him, "Most I can say is we have three months, maybe sooner, to be honest, all I can think is what to do when those three months are over." David sighs, "We'll need someplace warm, safe, we'll definelty need the supplies to even deliver the baby..." Jay pats him on he shoulder, "I'm sure it will all be fine." David nods his head and looks to Ana playing pattycake with Lily. "She still doesn't know, does she?" Jay nods, "And she won't know, all she does know, is that her mom stayed back home to keep the city safe." David can't help but look at the poor girl, "Thank you for taking care of her Jay, I don't think anyone else properly could." Jay shakes his head, "I'm trust Ginny to take care of her while I'm gone, so don't give me all the credit. But if there's anyone you should worry about, it's Lily." David looks to her, "She seems fine to me..." Jay shakes his head, "You should see how she is when she thinks no one is around David, she misses Ryan, and she can't stop thinking about shooting her mother, it's really getting to her..." David nods as Jay moves back toward them, finishing up his examinations.

David also checks up with Ginny and Ben last, seeing that they're fine and ready to move when he says so. Gideon returns with Connor and Murphy, carrying back a few things of food, mostly canned goods. The next day rolls around and everyone starts to head out. David noticed not alot is said between everyone, a somber mood perviates the groups. As the walk they eventually come towards the city that they planned to enter. But around the city is a tall, heavily built wall surrounding the city, a Haven. The walls are covering in large, crumpled sheets of scrap metal. A smile refuses to leave David's face, "This is proof that we can rebuild..." The group begins to move forward towards the city, only being stopped by armed guards. The guard doesn't say anything as they approach. David walks infront of everyone, "Mind telling me what this place is?" The guard suddenly speaks up, "New Martinsburg!" Then silenced himself. David is a little confused by his behavior. "Well, can we come in." The guard shakes his head, "We don't like many visitors that come through here, they always stir up trouble." David puts his hands up, "Is there someone we could talk to? We really need to get through." The guard looks everyone up and down, "Maybe, we'll see what Miss Worth has to say." The guard then knocks on the gate behind him. A small slot slides open showing a pair of eyes. The guard whispered something, then the eyes reply and shut, the guard then turns back to them, "He's on his way to ask, just sit tight."

Half and hour had passed and people were getting restless, Gideon started to act very unpleasant towards the guard. "Listen, we're on a time limit, just let us through..." Guards shakes his head. "Nope." Suddenly the gate slightly opens. Everyone immediately jumps up getting ready to move through, but instead are met with more men carrying weapons. Just when David thought they had finally reached the end, a small woman slips through the gates. David suspects that this woman must be Miss Worth. She speaks up, "I believe most of you know who I am, as for you, I don't care. But what I do care about is New Martinsburg, so here is was I suggest." She walks forward so the whole group can see her clearly. "I absolutely love riddles and amusing myself by watching people think their way through the simplest of them." She hold a paper up in her hand, then hands it to the guard from before. "In Thomas' hand is a list of riddles and the answers to them, once you find the answer, the door will open and the one who answered shall be let in and ushers to the other side New Martinsburg. Just know that you should be prepared when you answer, we have not cleared out the whole city and have only expanded so far, so we don't know what's on the other side. But anyway...goodluck!" She suddenly turns around and heads back inside.

Everyone is dumbfounded, to get inside the city they just need to answer...a riddle? The guard takes a look at the paper and tucks it in his pocket, "Yes! The code riddle is my favorite." He smiles. David scratches his head and looks to everyone, then to the guard, "So what's the riddle?" The guards stands firm, "12."

"Wait, what?"

"12."

"That's just a number, not a riddle."

The guard just shrugs, "Either answer is it or find another way to get through." David brainstormed when Jay walks up behind him, "Mind if i try something?" David let's him go first, "6." The guard smiles the hits his first against the door. The door suddenly opens and two guards rush out, grabbing Jay and dragging him inside. The door then shuts, muffling Jay's yells of defiance.

Again, everyone is dumbfounded, David looks to the guard, "Will he be okay?!" The guard chuckles, "Of course, he got the right answer." David is just about to say something, but the guard cuts him off, "Six."

"Six? What happened to twelve?"

"It changes for everyone."

David rubs his temples and groans loudly, turning to his people. "Its six now..." Gideon steps forward, "We'll Jay said six, so it must be the half of every number, so let me try." David let's him. Gideon moves toward the guard, "3." The guard hits the gate and two guard grab him the same way they grabbed Jay. David nods, thankful that they know how to get through now, he looks to the guard. "10."

"5."

"No."

"No?! What do you mean no?"

"You didn't figure it out, so no passing for you."

David returns to the group, AJ notices him first, "No good?" David shakes his head, "This riddle is fucking stupid." AJ sighs and puts her hand on his shoulder, "Guess we're gonna be here for awhile..."
