4 Act: 1 Part: 4

"I just can't believe Connor would do that..."

"He was weak, no point cryin' over it" the bigger guard released another puff of smoke, "He chose to side with those weak bastards, don't worry about it, Sam will work it out, he always does." The smaller guard sighed, "I guess you're right." Just as the smaller guard turns around, a fist connects with his face, he falls to the ground. Before the bigger guard can react, the knife attached to his side is snatched from its sheath, and he feels a sharp pain in his side, over and over again. The smaller guard can't defend himself from the onslaught of punches to his head, every punch drains more energy from him, until he stops moving, forever. The bigger guard stumbles back, a blood trail shows where he slides against the wall, he looks to the smaller guard. Benjamin is standing above him, blood covering his knuckles. The guard then moves his head to see his attacker, Ryan. The guard tries to stand back up to retaliate, but falls back to the ground, he's lost to much blood, he's to weak. He tries to relax, he shuts his eyes. Darkness.

Ryan looks at the knife in his hands, blood covers the blade and his fingers. He feels a hand touch his shoulder. He sees Lily's eyes and straightens himself out. "Are we almost there Connor?" Connor walks foward, "Down the steps and to the left, I know the code to open the door, they make me load the clips and magazines." They all move down the stairs, each step causing a small echo through the empty halls, lucky no guards are patrolling that specific area. Connor walks to the door.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

Connor finishes entering a six digit code and the door clicks, he pushes against it causing the door to swing open. The room is not large, but packed with equipment like long-range and short-ranged weaponry, body armor, explosives, and other useful equipment. Connor steps up, "Everyone grab what you can carry, the moment I pull a pin off of a grenade, we need to book it to the bottom floor and get out of here while we still have time." Everyone nods and carries what they can, most grab a weapon that suits them, some ammunition, and other equipment that seems useful. Once everyone is ready, Connor grabs a grenade and waves everyone away to start running. Once everyone is gone, shakily, he puts his finger through the pin of the grenade, pulls it, drops it, and sprints out of the room, moving as fast as his legs can carry him.

*WABOOOOOM*

The shockwave from the explosion causes Connor to fall to the ground. Smoke and debris fills the air, he shakingly stands back up and hears the sound of guards moving down the hall.

*BWEEEERP*

ATTENTION ALL PERSONAL, WE HAVE A BREACH ON THE EASTERN WALL OF THE BASE, THE UNDEAD ARE MOVING TO PENTRATE OUR HOME, GEAR UP AND PREPARE TO FIGHT

As Connor is about to start running he looks back down the hallway to see armed guard, he closes his eyes knowing that his luck has run out...but nothing happens, he looks and doesn't see them anymore. Connor turns around and sees the guards again, but they're to busy focusing on the explosion to pay him any attention, Connor gives a sigh of relief and starts running again, ready to escape this Hellhole.

Connor catches up with the rest of the group, they're all looking around for any trouble, but it seems most of the guards are to busy focusing on the immediate threat. The group makes it to the front of the building, David looks out past the barbed wire fence, "Guys, I think we forgot something..." As everyone looks out, the fence is covered with a wave of zombies, more are on the way. "What's the plan?" David says to Ryan, his eyes filled with disbelief. "We all made it this far just to have those hopes dashed by a bunch of zombies humping a fence..." Ryan, lost in thought, is shaken by David, "What is the plan Ryan?" Ryan pulls the crossbow he grabbed from the armory, and loaded it with a bolt. "There's only one thing we can do..." Ryan looks David in the eyes, "...die or die fighting."

David nods and everyone prepared to fight, Connor moves the the control panel in a shack beside the gate and presses a button, the gate slowly opens, letting zombies trudge forward, but everyone was prepared.

Ryan fired a bolt, hitting one zombie square in the forehead, and quickly loads another. Lily steps forward, in her arms is a cleaner model of her flamethrower, the only difference is this one has been used less frequently, she releases a torrent of flames, roasting the undead and releasing a nauseating smell into the air. Ben and Ron watch for stragglers that try and flank them, each flanking zombie is met by Ron's fireaxe and Bens baseball bat, keeping the survivors with ranged weapons safe. Jay and David push toward, staying clear from Lily's flames, Jay unleashes pellets of lead with a pump shotgun, clearing out multiple zombies, David also sprays the undead down with his M4, dropping zombie after zombie. Ginny stays back, using her hunting rifle on any zombie that tries to sneak up on them. AJ watched David's back, using her bow on any zombie that gets to close.

Ryan begins to notice the herd of the undead thinning, seeing ways for them to move through and escape, "Now! We need to move now!" With that said, everyone begins pushing forward to freedom. Ryan smirks and begins to move forward, but as he takes his first few steps, He hears a scream and looks over to Ron. He is on the ground, his leg is bleeding from where a bullet had penetrated his leg. Ryan, David, and Jay turn to see guards at the entrance they came from, firing at them with pistols. Jay looks to David and Ryan, "I'll grab him! Both of you cover us!" Both nod and they all spring into action, David begins to burst fire at the pursuers while Ryan waits for the right moments for men to pop up, firing a bolt at the right time and hitting his targets. Jay moves to Ron, slinging his arm around his shoulder, moving as fast as they can. With Ron leaning against Jay, everyone clears a way and moves as fast as they can towards safety and out of the reach of zombies and enemy gunfire.

It's takes time and multiple stops to reach their home. Everyone helps Ron down into the bunker and lays him on a table in a small room. Jay looks over to David, "Do you mind helping me get this bullet out if his leg? I just need one person to help." David nods, ushering everyone else out of the room. Jay washes his hands, puts on his gloves, and prepares to remove the bullet...

Ryan relaxed in the mess hall, glad that everyone had made it out. A cup of tea was slowly slid in front of him, he looks up and sees Lily with a cup of her own. Ryan smiles and took a slow sip, savoring it's warm, sweet taste. "I thought you could use something to help relax, I know that had to have been seriously stressful..." Lily sits down infront of Ryan, sipping her warm drink. "Hey, as long as I have you, everything will be fine." They both continue to enjoy their drink.

*Time Skip*

After finishing their drink, Ryan and Lily continued to talk until Jay and David walked through the door, both looking tired. "How is he?" Asked Lily with worry in her eyes. Jay looks back, "We got the bullet out, it didn't hit anything serious, but all I would worry about is infection, I got him some antibiotics and all we can do now is wait and let him rest." Both Ryan and Lily give a sigh of relief, Ryan gets up and shakes Jay's and David's hand, "Good job, both of you. You guys go wash up and get some sleep, you both earned it." Both Jay and David smirk and nod, happy they can both finally relax. David leaves the mess hall and makes it to his room, the moment his head makes contact with the pillow and his eyes close, he falls into a deep sleep.

*BREEEP BREEEP BREEEP*

David jolts up at the sound of the alarm and the flashing red light that covers his room. "Ughhhh...not again..." David opens the door and enters the hallway and sees everyone else exiting their rooms, confused. Suddenly Ryan bursts down the hall, carrying his crossbow, "Everyone get your gear now!" Everyone rushes back into their rooms to grab their weapons and equipment, then head back out and follow where Ryan was running. David falls behind Ryan, "What's going on?" Ryan turns his head to him, a scowl on his face, "I was checking the cameras when I saw an SUV pull up...its Sam and his men, and they're armed to the teeth."

David eyes widen, "How armed are we talking?" Ryan shakes his head, "Big ass guns plus armor, nasty shit, they're planting explosives on the hatch as we speak...Our home is compromised." David looks at everyone else, "I don't think that's a good thing..." Lily walks up to Ryan, "What's the plan?" Everyone looks to him, he tries to control his breathing and calm down, but this is nothing like they've faced before. "I don't know..." Everyone's eyes widen, none of them have ever known Ryan to not have a plan. David looked down, then spoke up, "Ryan, are those zombies still in the other room with the second hatch?"

"We're ready boss." Sam takes another puff of his cigarette, then flicks it into the woods. "Its about damn time." He unholsters his revolver, and moves into cover with his men.

*Beep....Beep...Beep...Beep Beep Beep*

*KABROOM*

Dirt and debris fly up as the set  decimate the metal hatch, leaving a hole in the ground leading to the bunker. "Move, move, move!" Sam pushes his men forward, they slowly descend as Sam sits back behind the vehicle they arrived in. He hears nothing but the animals and wind rustling the trees around him. Suddenly he hears the sounds of fighting, he hears no gunfire, but more of a small brawl, then it ends, and silence returns. "T-Trey? Liam?" Sam gets no replies from his men. He looks down and sigh. "If you want something done right..." he checks the bullets in his revolver, spins the cartridge, and whips it into place, "...you gotta do it yourself."

Sam walks down the hatch, the once clean room it's now littered in debris and dirt caused by the explosion. He looks through the door, and sees his men through the window. They are all on the ground, it doesn't look like they been shot or seriously injured. Sam slowly opens the door aiming his gun as he moves, he moves a few steps in. He hears nothing...

Suddenly, a solid object connects with the back of his head, his gun is taken from his hands and he feels multiple vibrations, people were running out of the bunker. By the time Sam regains his composure, he hears the door behind him shut and lock. He jumps up and presses himself against the window, only to see David's face staring back at him.

*screeeeeee*

Sam turns around to see another door at the end of the hallway, slowly opening to reveal a rotting zombie moving through the door, his skin peeling off of his face, barely holding on. "Oh shit..." It's not long before the zombie raised his head into the air, and makes a loud gargle, thanks to that noise, the door opens more, revealing even more zombies that have fell into the room over the many weeks underground. As the zombies move forward, Sam's men begin to wake up, all of them begin to yell and rush to the exit with Sam, but there is no way out. Sam stares into David's eyes, "Please don't do this David, open the door, let us out!" David just stares, no change in his emotions. The zombies get closer, the first of the men try to fight back but is easily overpowered by the amount of zombies moving though the hall. Sam slams his fists into the window, trying to break it, but to no avail. "I'll get you for this David! I'll kill you!" David smirks, "Good luck with that..." David turns his head and moves up, out of the hatch where everyone is waiting, he stops halfway up the stair, hearing the sound of meat being torn from bone, the gurgling of a man who just had his throat torn out. David continued up the steps, never looking back.

*Time Skip*

The campfire warms those around it, each person telling stories to keep their friends happy, to keep the sad truth away. David turns to Ryan, "We've had quite the day..." Ryan nods, "You've gotten that right." Ryan takes a look around the camp, everyone is tired, not ready for whatever has to come next. "It's times like these that really challenge us, days that truly make it hard..." David nods back, "I can understand that." Just as David is about to continue talking, Connor alerts eveyone, "Who is that?! Show yourself!" Everyone jumps up, weapons in hand, aiming towards where Connor called out. A hand motions from behind a tree, the man steps forward, he's in military dressing, and M4 strapped around his torso. "The names Gideon, and I need your help." Ryan steps up, pistol in hand. "With what? And before you try anything, just so you know, none of us, are in the mood for any tricks..." Gideon nods his head, "I completely understand, but this just might be worth your time." Ryan raises his eyebrow, Gideon whistle and another man steps forward behind him. "This is Murphy, and he's my cargo." Jay walks closer to examine him, "And might I ask what's so special about this cargo?" Murphy chuckes, "Oh nothing at all really, he's just the cure for the zombie outbreak..."
