3 Chapter 3: Mystery Invitation

"It's you," Luna whispers, "You're the shadow that disappeared."

"Well hello to you too," The stranger chuckles.

"Oh, I am so sorry. My thoughts bypassed my brain and hello," Luna rambles with a blush slowly tainting her cheeks and a friendly yet embarrassed smile.

"It's quite alright," he replies, "I was just sent to deliver an invitation to the inhabitants of this house. A Luna to be specific. Would that happen to be you beautiful?" He finishes with a cheeky smirk as if already knowing the answer but asking anyway.

Luna, blushing deeply, replies with a whisper, "What if my name is Luna?"

"Then this invitation must be for you and that adorably beautiful blush."

"And what if I don't want the invitation?"

"Well to not want this invitation you'd more than likely have to be crazy. I mean this is going to be the biggest, grandest ball of the year. Everyone's coming hoping to have the opportunity of catching a glimpse of the princess. You wouldn't wish to miss out on all that now would you?"

"Well, no. But I loathe large formal gatherings."

"So you're just going to stay away? Miss out on an amazing opportunity? That doesn't sound like…", Andrew paused trying to find the right words without giving anything away, clearing his throat he continued, "That doesn't sound like a sensible thing to do."

Luna, picking up on his hesitation, replies, "I would stay away and miss out on this… amazing opportunity as you so… graciously put it. But your hesitation has made me rather curious."

"Ah, it piqued your interest, did it?"

"Very much so. Meaning that I might as well attend this… grand ball, is it? But of course, I'm only attending to figure out why you hesitated."

"Of course, why else?" Andrew replied sarcastically.

"Are you going to be there?" Luna questions.

"Maybe, but then again maybe not?" Andrew winks at Luna.

"You have a way with words, don't you?" Luna comments while rolling her eyes at this stranger.

"Not at all," Andrew says before looking out the window and realizing that he should be getting home soon. "I must be going. But I do hope to meet you again."

Luna watches as he leaves the house and walks down the long beach toward the cliffs. "Such a strange boy." She says to herself without realizing that her uncle has entered the room.

"He is rather strange, isn't he?" Solis says from behind Luna causing her to whip around. "Calm down mi hija. It's just me." with that Luna releases a breath that she didn't know she'd been holding. "So, he had an invitation to the ball for you?"

"He did."

"Are you going?"

"Maybe…" Luna says with the faintest hint of a smile on her lips.
