[Shidou PoV]

April 11th. The next day arrived. April 11th, Tuesday.

It was the day after the day Shidou had gone through a strange and unrealistic experience.

The profound facts that he absorbed yesterday was enough to make his head ache in realization.

First of all, after seeing the ridiculous things that almost came out from some fantasy—or rather, Mecha themed novel where robots and flying drones exist, he found himself brought into an 'secret underground' facility located nearby where he was before when he lost consciousness.

He was greeted by a woman named Murasame Reine when he woke up and had given him some details that would be explained to him as soon as he brought him to his next destination.

Speaking of his sister, Kotori was safe and sound which made Shidou sigh in relief that nothing bad happened to her after the dangerous and non-realistic things that happened near the family restaurant.

And apparently, Kotori informed him that she was a member of this place called <Fraxinus>—or rather, the temporary <Fraxinus> base located underground. Kotori informed him that the 'true' <Fraxinus> was a Airship in reality.

This made Shidou's relief as it was immediately replaced by a sudden headache due to the information that was conveyed to him by Kotori.

'Is the world playing jokes with me right now?' Is what Shidou honestly thought at that time.

And speaking of Kotori, her condition was something that could be described as... 'not great'. Some parts of her body was covered in cloth bandages. It was as if she was wounded on those parts as she relatively moved as minimal as possible.

The fact that her sister was not in a 'great condition' only dawned upon him when he recollected his composure due to the sudden things happening all over around him.

After a very long explanation, Kotori said that she was fine and there was nothing to worry about since her wounds would quickly heal after a day or so. She especially pointed out that she just suffered some 'burns' the other day due to some mere accident.

And Shidou was baffled at that answer of hers. Can burns heal after a day? Even so, how could a large area of her body got burnt in 'accident' in the first place?

He doesn't think that she was lying but still... if you involve basic logic and reasoning especially since the cloth bandages we're almost wrapped about 65% (His guess) of her body (not involving her face and other parts... which you guys know if u remember things in human biology in order for the— ehem. Nevermind...), what happened to her was serious and could not be called as a 'mere' accident.

It wouldn't be a joke to say that she looked like a half mummy at this point which he said out loud for some reason resulting him being kicked from the gut by his lovely sister.

He apparently passed out for from it and when he woke up, he was bombarded mercilessly with a load of information (bullsh*t) which made him want to pass out again.

But he didn't unfortunately.

And it all started with this...

Spirits.

Special life forms designated as especially disastrous, existing in the 'Neighboring Word'—or another world in other possible terms as well.

Both their origin and existence reason are unclear. Whenever they would appear in this world, they trigger spacequakes, causing great damage to the nearby area.

As soon a he knew this, Shidou widened his eyes in shock. How couldn't he? How could he believe that that 'girl' were one of the things who causes those massive destruction all over the place.

Spirits are a secret to the public, who take shelter during the spacequakes they cause.

There are two methods of dealing with the Spirits: respond with the intent to kill, or have Shidou Itsuka—him, to 'make them fall in love to him' and seal their Spirit powers off.

Of course, given the good and kind person he was, he immediately despised the fact of them killing that girl.

How could they even kill the girl who apparently makes a face filled with sadness like that! Is what he said as he remembered her expression despite the long distance between them.

[A/N: YEP! Due to the rule of 'protagonist privilege policy', I declare Shidou to have a very keen eyesight that could see things clearly like a hawk!

UMU!! And this is due to the convenience of the PLOT! GET IT? This is some BS that I made so don't mind it too much]

And in the end, his sister gave him a relieved and fierce smile knowing that he would choose the latter method which is to 'save' them by making them fall for him.

His sister, Kotori, was apparently a commander of <Fraxinus> under an organization called <Ratatoskr>, which job is to apparently try to solve the matter of Spirits by not 'eliminating' them, but to deal with them through conversation and peacefully sealing them off.

In short, his answer was already a decided in the first place.

The result in the end was that he 'accepted' the job to 'save' them, which is apparently obvious knowing who he is.

As for why Shidou was the one chosen to perform this task, they themselves don't know much about the reason as for why is that. All they know is that Shidou has the capability to seal Spirits and for how that happens was beyond their scope of information.

Shidou was obviously skeptical about it but his good nature got ahead of him and completely agreed to 'save' them. He wouldn't even hesitate to say it immediately if he was asked whether they should 'kill' them or 'save' them.

His trust on them was surely misplaced in some aspects. As a matter of fact, Shidou's trust on Kotori was the main anchor as for why he agreed on their claims that he could seal Spirits. Well, his trait of being good-natured was an important aspect for that as well.

Back to the point.

Apparently, Shidou had first met two Spirits to be exact. His transfer classmate given by the codename <Seraph>, and the beautiful girl given by the codename <Princess>.

Shidou at that time couldn't process everything in his head due to the shock of many big revelations presented right before him one after another.

It was torture to be exact but he doesn't really have a say on it.

After that, Shidou was moved to a different room where he was given an in-depth explanation and analysis of the situation that dragged on late into the night by a man he didn't know (honestly, he didn't really remember the later parts), and after signing various forms he was finally allowed to return home (which he also didn't know when and how).

Without even taking a bath he dove into his bed, and before he noticed it was morning.

...

And back to the current time...

He dragged his sluggish body to school, and endured the lessons while rubbing his sleepy eyes, and finally recess time or break time came.

The Spirits, Ratatoskr, and her Sister alongside the disclosed facts from the public really took a toll on Shidou's wellbeing and mental health (not too much really).

Everything was normal, or... not—was what he was thinking when at that moment the incident happened.

"Yo, Shidou"

"Eh?"

The transfer student, or rather, Rei Ainsworth, the boy who Shidou had seen when that unrealistic happenings occured yesterday besides that beautiful girl, had hanged his arm on his neck as he called his name out.

Glancing at Rei's appearance, it could be said that he is showing an aura of friendliness—or so Shidou wanted to believe except for the fact that something was wrong on that.

With a closer look, they looked like they were best friends of some sort.

And then Rei said, "Can you come with me for a moment?"

"Eh? A-ah. Yeah, no problem"

Due to the sudden turn of events, Shidou immediately agreed.

'Kotori's words about this Spirit would be clearly described as a 'trouble'. Well, I can't say for I have only interacted with him properly only twice included yesterday...' Shidou thought to himself.

"I-Itsuka-kun, eh...?" Tonomachi looked at Shidou in shock for some reason.

But to be honest, there is nothing really big happening here. Yes, nothing too worthy in fact... except for some things though...

"....."

The classroom filled with people talking was surprisingly silent for that brief moment. And after that, murmurs began to erupt all over the place.

For some reason, Shidou felt something was definitely going wrong right at this very moment.

"Are Itsuka and Ainsworth friends?" A male classmate said.

"I don't know, well, they should be I guess?" A random male classmate responded.

"Or maybe, did Itsuka do something bad to Ainsworth? I can't help but feel that Ainsworth gives of some dangerous vibes in my opinion..." A random guy responded warily for some reason.

"Dangerous? Oi, can't you see that he looks 'super' friendly right now?" A girl classmate joined in countering what that boy classmate said.

"Well... his eyes were somewhat sharp and cold... and dangerous and that's kinda hot in my opinion..." A random girl mumbled with a flushed face before clearly adding, "Ehem. What I meant to say is that he doesn't look like someone who is 'dangerous' to do bad things!"

"That's right! Don't slander Ainsworth-kun with your random speculations!" A girl classmate chimed in supporting her.

"You don't even know him that well for you to describe him like that"

"N-no! 'We' don't mean it like that! Right, guys?!" The poor guy asked his friends for help.

But alas, friendships are filled with betrayals.

"No, you are the only one thinking like that dude..." The nearest friend of his responded while averting his gaze upon his friend's poor figure.

And his other friends did the same thing as well.

"Traitors!"

At this point, almost everybody ignored him and shifted the topic.

"Hmm.. now that I think about it, did you girls talk to him yesterday?"

"No, an spacequake occured right?"

"Did somebody talk to him on the shelter?"

"No... We didn't see him. Did anyone see him?"

"Oh! I remember him going outside...."

"No no. That can't be...."

"Or maybe...."

The people in class began to make their own conclusions with themselves as they murmured.

Among some of those were disturbing things which apparently was clearly heard by Shidou as he stood up from his seat.

'What?! I don't know why they came to conclusions like that!'

Shidou wanted to complain but it would certainly escalate and worsen his situation more more—is what he thought (which was surpringsily logical).

"KYYAAA~" And for some reason, some girls were cheering in delight.

Well, some rotten girls (fujoshis) actually....

Right at this moment, Shidou really wanted to refute back at them but he couldn't as he was being dragged by Rei to be exact.

The noises were slowly died off as they left the classroom and the school building.

Of course, Shidou didn't let him to be dragged all the way as he tried to regain his footing to properly walk by himself while following Rei to where they were going at.

Shidou was nervous in fact for what he was facing now was what his sister, Kotori, had called a 'Special' Spirit that blends in human society—and as well could be put in the most 'unstable' and 'mysterious' ones based on their (Fraxinus, Kotori, etc.) observations.

Rei Ainsworth, or so his name was, appeared approximately a month ago which caused that enormous space quake which caused the extreme devastation on the northwest part of Tenguu city by severing it in half.

Of course, the damage done was already restored by using [Realizers] to build back all the facilities, buildings, and things that were caught up on that damage. Well, not everything, but almost everything.

Knowing this, Shidou kept his silence as he followed Rei. It wouldn't be wrong to say that he was somewhat scared at him.

And so, after a few minutes later, they arrived at the back of the school building.

It was desolate and silent. Deprived of any disturbances except for the passing breeze.

Rei then moved forward and leaned his back on the wall. His friendly demeanor that he had soon vanished as it was replaced with a serious and cold one.

"Now then, let's get into business shall we?"
