23 The Girl He Likes

"Are you sure you don't want me to send you home?" Carla asks her with a bit worry in her voice.

She feels like Luna is hiding something from her, but she doesn't want to pester her if she doesn't want to. There's a lot of time where she can tell her if she wants to.

"Yeah, you be careful on the road." Luna gives a pat on her friend's shoulder. She can't say that she does not live at her parents' house anymore and her husband now still eyeing her from the inside of the restaurant.

He was already all antsy inside the restaurant when Luna and Carla already pay the bills. He couldn't stop thinking that she would leave him and go with her friend. With the thought alone already make him anxious.

Luna took out her phone and send a text to Mr. Carson that she will go to the park not far from the restaurant. They can meet there and let Raymond play at the park for a moment before they head back to the mansion. After sending the text, she walks to the park.

From the restaurant's glass window, Nick looks at the way she goes. But then he averts his eyes back to his friends. Listen to their talk and jokes. He didn't notice that the father and son from behind their table already pay the bill and went to the same place as her.

At the park.

"You look distracted." Mr. Carson saw her face look a bit down after having a meal with her friend.

Looking at the butler, she flatly smiles at him. "Life's tough."

"Hm, wait until you reach my age." He still watching Raymond from the bench.

He's currently playing at the slides. It's actually for kids, but well, he still a kid inside. There are no other people here too, so it safe for him to enjoy his time.

Luna did not say anything else as she also looks at Raymond's direction. He looks so energetic, happy and so innocent. When he regained his memory back, will this side of him will disappear too?

"Darling!" He waves his hand to her and slides down before he went up again. He then tries to climb up the slide's roof and that makes Mr. Carson immediately run to him.

"Master..!"

He persuades him to not climb too high and ready to catch him if anything. Luna stands up from the bench and wants to go to the two of them but then, a voice suddenly halt her pace.

"Luna." Nick who just pass by the park, spot the girl standing up from the bench, he then absent-mindedly call her name.

Luna turns her head around and looks at the guy while lifting her eyebrow.

"What?"

Like electrocute, he then realizes that he accidentally called her name. He wants to say sorry, but then..why not just he start the conversation with her? Just the two of them?

"Uh-" He swallows his saliva and scratches his back of his head a little. "What are you doing here? I thought you already leave with Carla."

Lie. He obviously saw she go this way before. He thought he just wanna passing by and check whether she already has gone or not. Who would thought that he will be this lucky to meet her here?

"I-" Luna glance at the two of man which still at the playground. She then clears her throat a bit. "Ahem, I just clearing my head a little."

Nick approaching her and look at the bench. "May I sit there?" He asked, hide his shyness and start to take the first step.

She also turns to look at the bench. She doesn't want him to sit here, but..she can't just say no either. It'll be rude and that's out of her character too, so...

"Sure. But I already want to go home." She smiles.

"Oh. Am I interrupting your time?" He looks guilty and that make Luna feel more guilty than him.

She then took a seat at the bench but look at the other way. "No. Where's your buddy?" She asks as a polite way to change the subject.

"They already went home I guess."

"Hm...I see." Luna nod her head. Thinking in another few minutes she should give a reason to get away from here.

"Luna.." He took a seat beside her.

"Hm?" Luna glance at Nick who looks like he had something he wants to tell her.

"I have something I want to tell you." He mustered up his courage to tell her how he feels toward her. This is the last summer he had as a high school student and the very next few months, they would start their lives a college student.

He doesn't want to lose an opportunity to confess his feeling to the girl he likes secretly for almost five years. He was so afraid to tell her how he feels because, for him, she was too perfect to be his partner.

He opens his mouth, ready to say something. But then, from the side of the park, there's a guy who runs aggressively to him and jumps to the bench furiously.

"Ah!" Luna almost got thrown aside by his sudden action.

Raymond grabs the collar of the man who dares to sit beside his wife. His eyes lit with a bit of murderous intent. His aura totally changes from the happy kid into a dangerous killer.

"Who are you?" He asks without any stuttering. So deep and cold. Just like the 'night' Raymond.

Nick almost chocked and he also did not back off as he punches the man in the face with his sturdy fist.

Bam!

Raymond's face tilted a bit, his corner of mouth bleed. His hand still gripping the collar tightly. Just when he wants to hit the man, Luna yelled from the side.

"Ray stop!!"

She doesn't want to draw the attention of other town people here. They will surely get troubled by this incident later.

Raymond stops his fist which is an inch away from Nick's face.

"You know him?" Nick ask while looking at her.

Sighing, she nods and pulls Raymond away from Nick. Mr. Carson was a bit shocked and he was afraid to meddle with the furious Raymond. Who knows even in his 'child' state, he still can kill him if his 'dangerous' mode is activated?
