Assigned Protector
Katrina Hale was two years old when her home planet was destroyed by a meteor, and very few survived. She, her parents, and a few others managed to escape and land on the planet Felonius. Once there the leader accepts them, some do not and are against the mortals being on their immortal planet. As time goes on an attack is launched on the Hale family, killing Kat's mother and father. She is taken to the castle, where Jared, the leader of Felonius swears to protect her and bring her up to be a great leader for the mortals of Felonius. Jayce, Jared's son, launches an attack on his own father, being one of the many who are against the people being there and Jared is killed. Before he passes, he puts the one man he can trust, Dimitri, in charge of protecting Kat and to continue training her. A few more years pass, and Kat is tired of the screams that flow through the thick castle walls of her people dying. She makes a bet with Jayce and ends up winning and leaving the castle. After she leaves, she meets up with a group of rebels who are trying to get enough recruits to go against the immortals. While she is with them, she is told of a prophecy of if an immortal and a mortal princess then the immortals curse will be broken without the withdrawals and side effects that tend to kill them in a slow painful death. Kat knows which immortal she wants, she just doesn't know if he wants her. Soon she finds out he does feel the same way but they know they can never be together because of Jayce, so Kat wants to get back into the castle to try to take Jayce out herself because she knows Dimitri will never do it due to them being raised as brothers.
