1 Chapter 1

The day was just as grim as the next one, but a few wore smiles as their justice was attained. The man in the chair was Howard Nubile, age 26. This man had a brilliant smile on his face as they strapped him to the chair.

Howard was a completely normal child as he grew but that changed when he saw the work of a killer in the news. The killer in question had killed 278 people throughout his life. Police could never pin him down as he never killed another with the same method. The only reason he was on trial was because he confessed all his crime and provided all the evidence. The reason he turned himself in was that he was dying of cancer and he wanted his work to be known.

Howard was fascinated with the idea that one man had ended so many and got away with it. He was only 10 at the time of the broadcast. The next year Howard claimed his first victim. An annoying kid 2 years younger than him. Howard lured the kid in a desolate spot inside his school and clean drove a knife through the kid's heart. He cleaned the knife and placed it back in the school cafeteria and watched the teachers apply condiments with it to their bread and toast. It was a rather joyous day for him and it was better the next day as the teacher found the body.

Over the years he had refined his techniques, claiming over 700 hundred lives. He was on his last moments smiling over such a wonderful life he had. He had an engineering degree, had a nice job, had a beautiful girlfriend, nice relationship with his parents and had gotten to do what he liked. He had turned himself in because at a crime scene he had left a mistake and that for his was unacceptable. The current was turned on and with a jolt Howard was dead. It was only after his death that the people realized that Howard had claimed another 100 victims by poisoning their water supply.

Howard woke up in an area that could only be described as hell. Blood oozed from the rocks and what could only be described as flora made out of flesh. Everything pulsed and the air was putrid.

"Howard, welcome to hell." A voice came from behind him.

Howard turned around and saw a well-dressed man. The man wore an expensive 3-piece suit and had a mini scythe hanging from his wrist.

"You have done many evil deeds and landed yourself here. However, it was really fun to see you work your magic up there. So, let's see what you do with actual magic. There will be a few helpful things on your person. Feel free to use them." The man said and grabbed the air like blanket and tore it.

"Is there another option for me?" I asked and the man smiled.

"Why, yes. You can stay here for 946 millennia and be reborn anew but without your memories." He said cheerfully.

Howard looked behind the man a saw an imp like creature sawing a person in half but was failing due to the person healing at a tremendous rate. It was a no brainer and Howard walked towards the opening in the air.

"Remember. This will be your final life and no rerolls after this." The man said with a chuckle.

"Before I leave, can you tell me your name?" Howards asked and watched in fascination as the man took on a ghastly form.

"My name will shatter your soul, but people often call me death." Death replied and  levitated Howard to the portal.

It took a while before Howard felt anything. He felt cramped, wet and weird. He could not see anything but there was a loud heart beat that seemed to be constant. He realized that he was inside a womb and promptly went to sleep. He woke up to an ever-increasing pressure that was pushing him upwards. 2 hours later, Howard was lying in his mother lap sucking on a nipple. He was mildly disgusted but knew he had to put-up with-it for a better future. One day later, Howard was trying to figure out what death had given him. There was a mark on both of his finger that looked like a bone and a form of sensory power that allowed him to know the location of all things alive around him. This needed further exploration which would have to wait till his body can support him.

Life as a baby was humiliating and nice at the same time. His mother loved him very much and handled him like a prince. She was called Lili which was short for Lilian. His family name was Enigma. It took his mother a few weeks but he was finally named Ace. He wanted to protest but the sight of his mother priding herself on the name calmed him down. Ace was well behaved and was a lovely child.

Quite a few hundred miles away, a seer was having a heart attack. What she had seen should never come to pass or else the world will pay. The site of barren cities with bodies being devoured by nightmarish creatures, had rendered her heart still. She knew she had to let the people know. She took a quill and began to write her final words.

'A horror unleashed upon the lands, the waters and the sky. A horror that will not be destroyed. Beware, beware, for death will strike. All good will fall and the horror prevails.' The older Trelawney wrote as her life ebbed away. As she died, she wondered why did her gift activate for one prophecy only to die immediately after.

The next day, wizarding society was buzzing with confusion. A Trelawny without a gift made a prophecy but died immediately later. Wizards were already dying left and right at the hand of the Death Eaters and Voldemort but now another horror. People simply brushed it aside as gibberish of a dying woman. Voldemort was happy because he considered this Prophecy as his while Dumbledore was more worried than ever.

Things at the Enigma household were calm and joyous. Ace had seen his mother use her wand for the first time and quietly celebrated. He wondered and imagined many different ways he would kill and with that happy thought he drifted asleep.

Lili Enigma had removed herself from the magical society and was in her own world of joy. Her son was perfect. He barely cried and ate without any fuss. She watched her son's eyes twinkling as she used magic. However, her elf provided the first bad news. It seemed as if her son was not magical and it broke her heart knowing what he would face in the Magical Society. She cried herself to sleep that night, making a promise to herself that she will defend her child with her life against all forms of bigotry.

Ace followed normal baby patterns and began to crawl at 7 months and would constantly blabber incoherent words to delight his mother. Finally, on his 8th month he was allowed in the garden. This day had changed everything for him. He was crawling on the grass and accidentally killed a snail under his knee. It felt like a rush of energy inside him followed by warmth. He instantly knew that he had magic now and that it seemed to grow as he took lives. He tested a few more times by killing a few spiders and ants confirming his theory. Sticky the house elf screamed and jumped up and down, confusing him and his mother.

"Master, me feel magic in Little Master. Little but sure" She said and Ace saw his mother's eyes tear up.

'The fuck, did I not have magic before?' He wondered as Lili hugged him breathless.

By the time he was 2 years old, Ace was running around and speaking a few broken sentences. His magic also grew by quite a bit but he couldn't correctly estimate his growth but he knew that he was improving. It was to be expected because insects and slugs were not magical and had very little life to begin with.

He was finally introduced to his neighbor's daughter who was a rude little shit that had gotten on his nerves constantly. He stayed away from that little devil and didn't want her around him. Thankfully, his mother mentioned muggles and the neighbor's name together and it gave him a bit of relief. He was sure he had to kill the little shit to keep her from Hogwarts. Luck as it was on his side again when she was put in a different kindergarten class than him. Days passed and soon, the first body fell to the floor. It was a fat kid who ate rat poison, "accidentally" Ofcourse. Ace slept nicely that day knowing that he had cleanly finished off his first victim. With that rush of power coursing through him that night was indeed a good night.

The next day there was pandemonium at the school with the parents of the deceased demanding explanation. Of course, the janitor was sacked due to carelessness but there were no punishments handed to anyone and the police soon went away. The rat poison I had used was not the kind used in school and the kid could have picked it up elsewhere. Mother was alarmed but didn't connect this incident to the death eater prancing about in London. It took a few weeks for the teachers to calm down and a little more for the parent, however my mind was elsewhere. While I knew the basic story of Harry Potter, I did not know a single spell. I tried to find books on magic but my search turned to nothing. Sticky had been ordered by my mother to ignore all my magic natured requests. The first spell I learned was a lighting spell called Lumos. While, I knew the magic without wand was possible but all I remember was Harry glaring a woman into the sky. It was something called accidental magic and ranged from mighty useless to uniquely deadly. I tried the spell once in the school bathroom and to my surprise, there was a flicker of light at the tip of my fingers.

'Surely, it can't be this easy.' I thought and tried again, only to see a slightly better result. The flickering light stayed for a bit longer and was a bit brighter as well. 'This has got to be one of the perks Death gave me.' I thought.

I kept the light going for a few seconds and felt a headache coming. This prompted me to stop and rest for a while. With a smile and an aching brain, I went back to class. Surely, things would only be better from here on out.
