Chapter 7

For the past day Scott wouldn't let me out of bed. Everytime he walked past I begged him to let me out. Today my wound is fully healed and my strength returned. Getting out of bed I go to the kitchen and fix breakfast. The chocolate pancakes were almost finished when a hand touched my wrist.

A smirk spread across my lips. He kissed my forehead and tightened his arms to my waist. Pancakes were ready to eat. Moving his hands away I ordered him to take a seat. Kissing my cheek he sits down. I come towards him with two plates of pancakes. As we ate he kept looking at me.

"Are you sure you're fully healed,'' Scott asked. He was resisting the urge to check for himself.

"The wound on my arm is completely gone.''

"Good.'' We finished our breakfast quickly. He wanted to do the dishes and sent me to my room. Four days is all we have left. The dream of Scott dying still fresh in my memory. Even if I chose him would he still die? If he died my world would turn dark, not even a tiny speck of light.

Till the thirty-first we could relax and do nothing. Laying on the bed I stare at the ceiling, taking a deep breath. Footsteps came to the bed and sat down next to me. He was adorable, the best thing to come into my life in forever.

Today we decided to stay inside and relax. Soon we would have to fight Edgar. I wonder how Scott feels about killing his brother? This couldn't be easy on him. "On the Blue Moon we have to kill Edgar.''

"I know but it's the price to pay to see that he doesn't hurt you. Losing my brother will suck because he's my blood. But it matters more to me that you're safe and free of him.''

"But he's your brother.''

"He stopped being my brother the moment he hurt you.'' I opened my mouth then shut it. He was going through something devastating. And I have no idea on how to comfort him.

He has to kill a family member and I'll never relate to that. We both lost family because of our existence. My plan on tricking Edgar on the Blue Moon is still happening. It might be the only way to protect Scott. Dying wouldn't be so bad if Scott lived.

Edgar took everything from me including William. When this is over and if I am still alive I'm going to visit Willam's grave. Just to tell him thank you. He's part of the reason I'm still standing here.

Since Scott and I weren't doing anything we stayed in bed. Cuddling closer to each other we closed our eyes. In the end we fall asleep.

A gurgling sound woke me up. Our stomachs were growling demanding food. I tried to move Scott's arms away, but he only tightened his hold. Telling him I would be back he let me go. I decided to make us ham sandwiches. Getting the ingredients I put them together.

When I came back to the room water was running. He must be taking a shower I thought. Setting the plate down I take a seat and eat my sandwich. The bathroom door opened, he was wearing a new set of clothes. His hair fell over his eyes making him look gorgeous.

My phone started to ring on the nightstand. We both already know it was Edgar. Putting the phone to my ear I answered it. "I promise not to bother either of you till the Blue Moon."

"What makes you think we believe you?'' Scott wanted the phone. I didn't hand it to him and kept talking to Edgar.

"You have my word.'' He hangs up. Sitting my phone down I look at Scott. At the moment he doesn't seem happy. I kiss his cheek to make his frown go away. A hand went to my waist pulling me closer to his body. Those blue eyes sparkled. My heart was beating loudly.

He crashed his lips to mine. Passion surged through me all at once. I could hear the wild beating of his chest. Only wishing we would stay like this for the rest of our lives. Too soon for my liking he pulled back. Removing the hair next to my cheek behind my ear. My face reddens at the gesture. That's when Scott suggested we watch movies for the rest of the day.

Horror movies were my favorite. The first one was Wrong Turn and it was mostly gory than scary. After a couple more the sun began to set. A beautiful sunset to end this perfect day.

Yawning I learned my hand on his shoulder. When I could barely keep my eyes open Scott decided it was time for bed. Lifting me into his arms he carried me to the bed. He gets in beside me. Moonlight shining on both of us. Pulling him closer I got to sleep for the night.

The smell of bacon made me peel back my eyelids. He was cooking, well this is new. I don't think I've ever seen him cook for me. Once he saw me he smirked and went back to cooking the bacon. I sat at the table and watched.

After a while of watching I grab plates and cups. He's putting the bacon on the plates. I was fixing us a glass of apple juice. The smirk was still on his face and I wondered why. Was he keeping another secret from me? I really hope he's not because it didn't  end well the last time.

I wanted to do the dishes this time. Reluctantly he agreed and went to my bedroom to change. Cleaning the dishes was a quick job. Scott was already in nice clothes when I opened the door.

My eyes drifted to the keys that were in his hands. A sparkle lit his eyes and he smiled. Where was he leaving off to?

"Where are you going Scott?''

"Don't you mean where we're going?'' I looked at him so confused. "Will you do me the honor and go on a date with me?''

"Yes I would love to go out with you.''

"Good, now get ready. I'll be waiting in the car.'' Taking a quick shower I change into a skirt. He was inside the car with it already started. The smirk on his face was still there and it was getting kinda creepy. As we drove around town old memories returned. This place used to be happy when I was younger.

I asked him where we're going and he ignored me. It must be somewhere important. An hour of driving we stopped at mini golf palooza. Mini golf reminded me of my dad. He took me here when I was seven.

Shaking my head I get rid of the memory. Scott didn't need anything sad to ruin this day. Helping me out of the car we go inside. The manager gave us the instructions before giving us our golf clubs. We're only doing nine holes. Let's just say he is not very experienced at mini golf.

During the first four holes he wasn't doing a good job. He kept getting bogey and double bogey while I got par and birdie. The fact that he did poorly told me he never played before.

Shockingly he did good the last five holes. Still didn't beat me but did better than before. Handing our golf clubs to the manager we leave. Scott looked disgruntled. "I let you win Grace,'' he grumbled.

"Yeah sure you did.'' My voice full of sarcasm.

"But seriously how did you learn to play mini golf?''

"My dad taught me when I was a little girl.'' We got in the car and drove to a diner. It was nearly one when we arrived. It was a fine establishment. Candles lit at every table to make it more romantic.

The building was small and painted red and blue. A waiter showed us to our table. Scott growled when the waiter kept eyeing me. If looks could kill the waiter would be dead. Taking our seats he left. I took Scott's hand and smiled at him hoping to lighten his mood.

His growl went away and he smiled. The waiter came back in minutes. As he took our order he stared at me, making me feel uncomfortable. That's when Scott put his arm on my waist and glared at the man. He glared back and went away.

I could tell Scott was close to losing control of his anger. When our food was brought to us it was a different waiter. That made us happy. Mainly so I didn't have to worry about him hurting the other guy. Finishing our food he tells me we have one more stop for the day.

Our next stop was the river. The water glistened from the sun. Scott and I stayed there walking around for hours. When the sun began to disappear he led to a boat.

"What are you doing?''

"I'm taking you on a romantic boat ride tonight.''

"Then lead the way mr. romantic.'' Helping me into the boat we began to paddle. Once we were far away from shore he stopped.

Stars were the only light we got. For the rest of the night we sat there and talked. How could I be so lucky? He is everything to me. He looks me in the eyes and starts to sing. I had never heard of this song before.

It was the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Tears were in my eyes when he finished. We decided to head home after. As we paddled back to shore he looked sad. He kept that expression all the way home. Getting home I was going to my room when Scott stopped me.

The sadness still in his gaze. I lead him toward the couch and we sit down to talk. "What's wrong Scott,'' I asked. My hand went to his cheeks. A tear fell from his eyes.

"There's something you need to know. Grace please don't argue with me on this.'' He said as I opened my mouth.

"Scott you're scaring me. Whatever it is we can figure it out together.''

"On the Blue Moon when I turn into the beast I need you to kill me. If I come after you promise me you won't hesitate?''

"No,'' I yelled. "I won't there has to be another way. You're everything to me please don't ask me to do this.'' tears were blurring my vision. I wouldn't survive three minutes without him.

"Grace please promise me,'' he croaked. I nodded my head yes. He hugged me tight with my arm around him.

For the rest of the night we stayed in bed talking. Soon his eyes drifted shut and his breathing slowed. Putting my head on his chest I whispered, "I love you.'' Then I began to dream about him and the future we could have.

In the room I was in there was no light. And Scott was nowhere to be found. Yelling his name I began to look for him. A tiny light started to flicker across the room. That's when I saw him. He was half beast with his claws showing. The shining of his blue eyes was still there.

With non human speed he was right in front of me. "If you want to save me then kill me,'' he whispered. A dagger formed in my right hand. "It's your choice Grace.''

Then his eyes turned fully black. I ran out of the room into a never ending hall. Scott wasn't far behind me. The last thing I wanted to do is kill him. There had to be some good still in him. This couldn't be the end.

My voices were saying kill him. Tears were flowing down my face.  A hand grabbed me from behind and his eyes were dark like his soul. I kept begging for him to let me go. All he did was chuckle. As he pulled back his claws I stuck the dagger in his heart. Scott gasped and fell to the floor. Blood pouring out of his wound.

His eyes turned back to blue. I got down on my knees and held his hand. "I'm so sorry,'' I whispered.

A bloody hand went to my cheek. "It's okay Grace. You made the right choice for the both of us.'' He closed his eyes and his breathing stopped. He was gone. Waking up from the nightmare I was covered in sweat. It was twelve in the afternoon. Man I really overslept. Scott was still beside me asleep.

Slowly easing out of bed so I don't wake him. Going to the living room I see the book and take it. Glancing through all the pages till one intrigued me. It was telling me how to kill the beast.

This could change everything on the Blue Moon. My dreams told me how to kill the beast. Does that mean Scott will live and the beast dies? I had to tell him about my plan. "What are you looking at,'' he asked. His voice made me jump and I turned to face him.

"Oh nothing. Just waiting for you to wake up.'' Thankfully he didn't hear the panic in my voice. I hugged him and went to take a shower.

Changing into sweatpants and a t-shirt I go back into the living room. The smell of food lured me to the kitchen. Scott was making grilled cheese sandwiches. Sitting down I watched him finish them. He handed me mine while he sat down with his. I savored the taste of the cheese.

Scott is the king of grilled cheese. Not knowing I said that till he burst into laughter. My cheeks go red and I turn away. Finishing my grilled cheese I put my plate in the sink. Waiting on him I sit on the couch. He's going to be mad at what I tell him.

He knew I was stressed. His hand went around my waist. "Grace is something bothering you?''

"I haven't been completely honest with you on Edgar.'' He tensed and gritted his teeth. "My plan for the Blue Moon was to make him think I chose him. While he was distracted you could end him.''

For a few moments he stayed quiet. Letting go of me he goes to my room and shuts the door. I knew that Scott felt betrayed. Pained from my secret. Giving him time was all I could do. In the meantime I stayed in the living room. The pain in his eyes made my heart ache.

Hours went by before he came out of the room. Scott wouldn't even look at me. Let alone talk to me. I blinked away the tears and went to make dinner. Once the dinner was prepared I called him in to eat. We sat across from each other. The distance is killing me. After dinner I got up to leave. He took my arm stopping me in my tracks. Tears in his eyes.

"You should have told me sooner.''

"I thought if I didn't you would be safe.'' Tears were now in my eyes. Now wasn't the time to be emotional.

"Grace You're all I need. Don't ever keep anything from me.''

"I love you.''

"I love you too.'' That night we watched movies till we fell asleep. Only one more day left. Then the fight will begin. With one side that will fall.

We did nothing on Thursday to be anxious for the day after. So we stayed home and watched movies. Our last night to relax before the Blue Moon.

The day was finally here. I'm scared to see Edgar after my near death experience. Scott promised to stay by my side though. We have been training for this day. Since it was Halloween I saw children in costumes. Little boys and girls in prince and princess outfits.

Around four when I was making dinner the doorbell rang. It was kids asking for candy. Thank goodness I bought candy just in case. The food was ready at five. I made him sit down while I made the plates. Our dinner consisted of chicken, corn, and rice. Scott's favorite food is chicken.

He wanted to do dishes and left with the plates in his hand. My voices started to appear really loud. "Leave to the river at six,'' the voices yelled. They quickly disappeared and I went to Scott. The look on his face told me he knew.

I began to shake with fear. Something was going wrong. Edgar could win and that couldn't happen. What if Scott died? My life would become nothing.

"It's going to be okay Grace. He won't hurt you.''

"What about you,'' I yelled. "I can't let you die on me.'' My throat tightened and I couldn't breath. I started to hyperventilate.

Scott pulled me into his arms. My breathing slowed down along with my heart rate. When I pulled he looked worried. It was time to face our chosen paths. At six we left and went to the river. By the time we made it, it was seven. Edgar was on the other side of the river.

The Blue Moon shining bright in the sky. I stood between Edgar and Scott waiting for the moon to hit me. Once the Blue Moon light struck me, my powers came. They were compelling to meet with Scott. Ignoring the force I make my way to Edgar. He has this huge grin on his face.

Scott growled and fell to the ground. And right before my eyes he turned into the beast. His eyes black and soulness. Edgar pushed me behind him and took out a gun. He was going to kill Scott.

Edgar charged him with amazing speed. He kept firing but missed every time. That gave Scott an opening to hurt him. With one strike he knocked Edgar out. Then his dark eyes went to me.

Having the dagger in my hand I was prepared. He came after me and I tried to run. Since Scott was faster I didn't get far. In no time he had his claws around my throat. Thrusting the dagger in his heart he let me go. Blood streamed down his chest as he crumbled to the ground. Seconds later the human Scott was back and seemed okay.

His eyes are still closed, but when I laid down I heard his breathing. The beast was gone but he was still here. Suddenly his eyes open and they're back to blue. We hugged tears coming down our faces. A gunshot rang through the air.

Blood was spreading through my shirt. The bullet hit my side. Scott grabbed the dagger and threw it at Edgar's chest. He then calls 911 while holding my hand. I was losing too much blood and I began to slip away. "Grace I need you to keep your eyes open for me. It's not supposed to end like this I love you.''

"Scott's it's okay you're safe. That's all I've ever wanted to happen. Things are going to be better now,'' I whispered.

"Look at me you're going to be okay. The ambulance is almost here.'' Sounds of sirens were close by. I tried my best to stay awake. In the end the darkness took over my body.

My eyes open to a bright light. Looking around I see Scott in a chair. He was sound asleep. It hurt to move my hand. That's when I see the iv hooked into my arm leading to a machine.

What happened the night of the Blue Moon came back. Did Edgar die that night? Whispering Scott's name he wakes up in shock to hear my voice. He's by my side and grabs my hand. Tears close to coming out. Before he said a word a doctor came in.

The doctor looks happy to finally see me awake. "How are you doing ms. Grace?''

"I'm fine. How long have I've been here doctor?''

"Three days since you've been in a coma. Now that you're completely healthy you can leave.'' Once checking my vitals he leaves.

"Is Edgar dead?''

"Yes.'' That means everything was finally over. Scott and I could live a normal life without being in danger.

Later that day we were going back home to Woodchester. Looking out the window I smiled. I could finally spend the rest of my life with Scott. Plus keeping the promise to myself about going to William's grave.
