29 Down

Mira's power's grew over the week and a half she had been with her family if only slightly. She could not make a rose appear out of thin air but she could make the air itself quiver especially when she was frustrated. Her sister claimed she was truly powerful and just needed to focus, but Mira couldn't help feeling self conscience. Her little mother could make things grow beautifully. her garden back at the deep red colored house was astounding. Everything was large and smelled delicious. Apparently the same gifts helped her mother to be a healer also. Her father could be persuasive with his words even though he was a man of few. This gift helped him to be an excellent diplomat for their city of Waldrin. Ren the oldest of her brother could peer into others dreams and sometimes someones memories. Her younger brother Eli could do some magic like the rest of her family but if he had any stronger specialized gifts no one had recognized them yet. Tisaine just claimed he had the gift of annoyance. Tisaine could change a flower into a bee, she could change her appearance or even run a comb through her own long wavy hair with her magic. 'Where has the magic to comb through her own tight curls been all her life' she told her self trying to lighten her own mood. 'She wouldn't even attempt running a comb through her hair until she was a master magician'. She made herself chuckle. It was hard on her self esteem coming from a family with these abilities. Not only that but her younger sister was so mature. Besides the occasional tift between her sister and youngest brother Tisaine seemed to be regarded more as a head of household. Her sister's position within Mira's family reminded her of a responsible eldest son on t.v. sitcoms or in movies. Her sister even involved herself within the politics of Waldrin. Her rarer abilities of mind reading were a definite edge when the family pushied the agenda they felt necessary for their city and their witch land as a whole. This made her feel all the more insecure. Mira wondered if she would have been a rock for her family had she been given the chance to be raised by them. The affection also took some getting used to. She wanted to just except it, she should just except the hugs and constant attention, what was wrong with her. For once in her life she wasn't alone however, she was used to her solitude and wasn't sure if she missed it or if it was overwhelming to always be around people. At the same time she never wanted to know what is was like to be without this family. She already adored them. "Mira I think you need a break" Tisaine led her sister on a leisurely walk to an elevated field outside of town. The field was lush and green. The view of Waldrin was beautiful. From where they sat it looked like a painting of pretty victorian style houses in a range of autumn colors. From reds, to yellows and browns.

"I'm sorry sister I know you are overwhelmed."

"I am. I've never been this happy though." Tisaine smiled at her sister's statement. "Thank you for finding me."

"Of course." Tisaine replied.

"Sis I'm sorry my thoughts are so dark, I can't always help it." Mira stated apologetically. She didn't want Tisaine to get offended by any of the frazzled thoughts running threw her brain.

"They seem normal to me, you've gone through a lifetime of emotions in about a month, and I'm trying not to listen. When I do hear your thoughts however I don't imagine how I couldn't be broken if I lived what you lived through. I know I sound like a broken record sister but you are strong." Tisaine decided to lighten the subject and proceeded to tell her sister how Waldrin was one of the most powerful Witch cities and how their own father and mother held the head household to represent Waldrin in Acaide the land of witches.

"So are they like royalty?"

"Yes, WE are royalty. We are the most powerful family wich makes us the highest ranking. You are princess of the house of Nueva city of Waldrin land of Acaide. Usually you would just be called high daughter instead of princess. Those terms are more for humans and night creatures." Mira was surprised, her parents home was large but humble compared to a castle, her parents themselves didn't seem pompous. "It's more about a respect for power in the witch world, you cannot show power with wealth or lineage, unless the lineage is highly powerful." Tisaine then told her more about the city and growing up there. Then they enjoyed the view. Mira stayed quiet for a few minutes lost in her thoughts. She thought of how it would have been to grow up in this place. She thought of her family, royalty. This made her all the more nervous about fitting in. She needed to learn how to use magic. She tried not to think of the woman who stole her childhood or the evil king she had escaped, she especially didn't want to think of him. She didn't want Tisaine to wonder why she still thought of him the man who held her as a prisoner. She wasn't sure herself. "Emiraine."

"Hmm." Mira answered being pulled from her thoughts. Tisaine looked at her daydreaming sister, still a little hesitant to tell her, but Tisaine didn't like secrets. Her parents jokingly refered to her as a band aide ripper. They guessed her bluntness stemmed from her knowing others inner thoughts. 'What did Tisaine have to hide or be ashamed of if she knew everyone's inner demons.'

"Sister you knew him as a child."

"Huh?" Mira asked puzzled.

"The king, you knew him as a child." Mira's mind was brought back to the painting of herself and the king as children. "Oh." Tisaine mumbled upon seeing her sisters thoughts.

"How, who is he to me?"

"He was your fiance." Mira's whole face contorted and the usually stoic Tisaine couldn't help but laugh a little.

"How is that even, we were kids not even, how was that decided for us." Her brain shot immediately to her parents she had met just a week ago. They were so sweet, and patient, and seemed to care about her. This was definitely a mindf***.

"Mira!" Tisaine snapped. Her smile gone. "There were many prophecies to support the marriage. You even proved to be the young king's mate." Mira just grew more confused, and hurt. She had found people that claimed to love her and search for her but it seemed like they already gave her up shortly after she was born. Tisaine looked hurt at Mira's thoughts but continued with the truth she was telling. "Mother and father believed the king and queen must have stolen you to raise you as their own. Control you to perform their will by severing your tie with your witch kin. Without proof our parents could not go to war over you."

"Do you know who the women is that took me." It hurt to bring up Cynthia the monster that robbed her of her childhood but why not she was already in pain.

"No sister, From Ren's paintings she appears to be a vampiress but not one that mother and father had ever met."

'I want to be alone sister.' Tisaine heard the request in Mira's head and rose to give her older sister some space. She looked at her older sister trying to figure out what to say.

"This is a different world Mira. Engagements are a normal and loving thing. You're union would have strengthened the bloodline of your children. Your combined strength would have protected you from enemies of any kind. Besides are parents are not the like monster you are used to. If you wouldn't have wanted it they wouldn't have pushed you." Tisaine stopped for a beat trying to read if she was pushing her sister to hard. "Love I wish you could read my mind so you would believe how amazing I know you are." Tisaine then walked away. She went far enough to give her sisters thoughts privacy but stayed close enough to sense her. She left Mira crying in the field alone. "Goddamn Tisaine the band aide ripper." Tisaine muttered to herself.
