6 Strangers

Winter turned into the bed entangled within the sheets. She lightly mumbled something and continued to snuggle in the bed searching for the source of warmth. Her hair fell on her face and tickled her skin, she pushed the tickling annoyance away ever so slightly across frombher face and felt the rays of the sun poke her eyes lids, disturbing her slumber and forcing her to wake up.

Winter sat up in the bed with her eyes still closed, her body shivering as she clung to the sheets to keep herself warm. Just as she was trying to come back to her senses she heard an unfamiliar voice. Coming from across the room, startled she turned her head, suddenly opening her eyes to see a young man. Winter stared at the young man who was sitting in a chair in the corner of the room almost hiding in the shadows. She blinked for a moment as she tried to focus on his face.

She noticed his face more clearly as it glowed in the dark. His face took shape still wrapped into the shadows yet his jaw bone carved against his flesh was visible to her. His thin pursed lips against the dark shadows were a complete imprint of silence and his curved ears partially hidden in his black curly hair were hidden behind a few streaks of hair . Raine stood up and walked towards her. Winter began noticing his body features and seeing him coming towards her. She moved back and tried to hide herself with the sheets.

Raine moved forward and Winter could clearly see his straight and small nose that looked just perfect on his face, his black curly locks fell on his eyes while he walked, his dark brown eyes were empty and had an extreme coldness in them that could freeze anyone's heart in an instant. His tall stature towered over her and his entire silhouette was entangled with the darkness of the shadows.

He was wearing a royal red shirt that snugged his body and showed off his well-built muscles and his lean shoulders that looked like carved out of a stone. He stopped and stood at the edge of the bed staring at her.

Winter noticed his pale white ash skin which brought out his body structure. "Miss you are finally awake!" He smiled at her. Raine really didn't know what to do or what to say, but simply ask how she was doing. As he made sure he doesn't step any closer to scare her.

Winters looked at him startled and then she looked around and paid attention to her surroundings realising she isn't in her own room. Her eyes met his cold eyes and as she tried to open her mouth the sound of coughing escaped her lips. Her dark blue eyes began to moisten and she whispered in between her cough, "Water… Water…" Raine walked towards the table next to the bed poured water into a cup and handed it to her.

He sat down on the bed and looked closely at her, staring at her beautiful black long hair with a few grey and blonde streaks.

Winter quickly grabbed the cup of water and pressed her lips against the edges of the cup to drink the water. Her throat was dry And she felt completely dehydrated, she felt as if her body had lost all the water. She felt the cold water running down her throat, into her body, giving life to her dehydrated dry body once more. She looked up at him and said, "Thank you."

Raine simply smiled at her and stood up from the bed. "You're welcome" Raine said. He walked back into his corner as he sat down again at his old spot still staring at her. He sat up straight with his back pressed against the backrest of the chair completely. Winter stared at him for a moment not sure where she was and what had happened.

She tried to think of the right words to say to him, but she really didn't know what to say to someone who is a complete stranger, and seems to be helping her. What made things worse was that she didn't remember anything that happened after she had the argument with Mariah. She pulled her legs towards her chest and continued to stare at the stranger sitting in a corner of the room.

She continued staring at the outline of his body while her mind was continuously thinking over what had happened and that where she was. She wanted to ask him something but she just doesn't knew what made it so hard for her to talk to this guy, but she could remember she only really talked to a very few people and most of them were people of her own kind.

She looks away from him and started staring at the cloak windows as the sun rays started peeking out from there. She didn't notice until now that this room was mostly covered in darkness.

She felt uneasy and gently biting her lips as she whispered, " …. Where am I?" pulling her legs closer to body. Feeling a shiver running down her spine as she asked this question, all she needed to know was her location. That was all she continued to repeat in her head. She thought that all she needed before she could escape.

Raine stared at her for a moment after hearing her question and said, "You are in the Kingdom of Verilin…" Raine leaned back into his chair sighing lightly and added, "You can leave of your free will, nobody is holding you against your will here." Raine smiled slightly after he said this and looked at Winter.

Winter kept staring at the window with her eyes open wide ,the imprint of her teeth on her lips were showing very clearly and she tried to form words out her mouth, but nothing escaped her lips.

Raine got up from his chair and began to walk towards the door hoping that would ease her tension. He stepped out of the room closing the door behind him. Winter stared at the closing door biting on her lips. She looked around once again, slowly counting inside of her head she stretched her hand to reach out to grab the water before sniffing it and chugging down the water fast.

She suddenly jumped off the bed hardly and ran towards the window. She once turned her head staring at the closed door and then looked out of the window and jumped out of the window escaping for her freedom.

He grinned to himself as he pressed his back against the door of the room. A spark of light flickered in his eyes. He turned around to face the door And reached his hand into his pocket and lightly stroked his fingers against the soft feather. He leaned his head against the door. Slightly putting pressure against the solid wood door.

He felt his body slowly disappearing against the wind. Clearing every trace of heaviness in his mind he felt his breath becoming light and his surrounding became silent. Raine slightly opened his eyes and turned his head slightly. " Do you need something" he stared at the guard before him.

Anger could be heard in the guard's voice clearly when he spoke, "What does the queen see in you?" The guard grunted not holding back his rage. " I'm doing patrolling for a spy. We have been informed that a spy has infiltrated the castle."

Raine's eyebrows rose slightly " What does the Queen's choice have anything to do with you.?" He laughed heavily sending a cold chill down the guard's spine.

"Slacking on your job? So much, that even a spy escaped your grasps. Ha! ha!. You should worry about yourself than worry about me."

Raine swiftly turned his back away from the guard. Feeling his piercing glare into his back. Raine opened his room door, entered inside and closed the door slamming it hardly behind himself.

The guard banged on the door and shouted, " I won't tolerate you talking to me like this. You shit!." Punching his hand into the wall The guard marched off with hatred in his eyes.

Raine laughed to himself inwardly before turning around to an empty room. He sighed inwardly.
