Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 34. The First Night II

Almost half an hour passed. Angel came out of the bathroom in a daze as his hands dried his half-wet hair with his towel. Simple black sleepwear covered his body, his usual sleeping outfit. This was the only place he could let his guard down since he had set up many magic formations as traps in this room. Otherwise, he would not be able to sleep peacefully. A long breath escaped his mouth. Somehow he felt so tired today, even though he had been soaking himself in the warm water a bit longer than usual. Usually, that would chase away a bit of fatigue out of his body, but not this time. Not to mention the thoughts that filled his head.

Even though he had managed to overcome the intruders, that didn't mean all of this was over. His brain was filled with guesses about Ilex and Ivetta's plans, especially since he didn't want to let them go this time.

'Should I put more spies in the Golden Light Castle?' he thought. But he had put enough spies there, so he knew it wouldn't work. He knew what he had to do was wait, yet his mind wouldn't let him rest.

'No. I should take a rest. I'll tire myself out if I keep pushing myself like this.' His gaze shifted to his bed, he was sure that Rose must have been asleep since she was tired as well, yet he found something else.

Angel's steps stopped and he froze like a statue. He couldn't even hide his surprise when he saw Rose sitting on the side of the bed, waiting for him in a thin nightdress. That dress exposed her cleavage clearly as well as all her curves. But unlike her bold dress, from her expression, it was clear she was embarrassed.

He frowned and was confused by it, yet he could deny it tickled his man instinct. His heart started pounding and his mind started to run wild. She was the woman he loved, so it was impossible if he didn't have a sexual interest in her. Yet he still maintained his composure. He remembered his promise to King Eudon not to touch her before Rose agreed to give herself to him and bring her to King Eudon as proof that she wanted to be with him. Moreover, her expression looked a little strange...

"What an interesting sleeping dress." That was the only guess that went through his head. His hand put his towel onto the sofa by his side before he walked over to her. His eyes swept across the room and found no one there but both of them.

"This isn't my usual sleeping dress," she said nervously. Her eyes fell on the man who approached her. Indeed, he looked calm, but who knew behind all that? The maids had left and there were only the two of them here. Moreover, they were husband and wife; and they already knew each other's feelings, anything could happen. Still... Although her feelings screamed for it, her common sense forbade her. She kept alarming herself that he was a dark magic user, his past was still mysterious and his intention was not clear. She knew nothing about him personally.

He sat by her side and kept his composure as best as he could and tried to avoid his gaze from some of her private parts.

"If that's not your sleeping dress, then what is?" He wondered if she was trying to seduce him. But wasn't that too soon considering how she behaved yesterday.

"The maids said this is the royal couple's first night's traditional dress so I can't refuse it," she said without daring to look at him since she was too embarrassed for that. Her hands were on top of her thighs, gripping her dress and wrinkling it out of uneasiness. Even though Angel hadn't done anything and just sat beside her, yet her heart was beating fast. Her palms were starting to get wet with sweat even though the dress made her a little cold and made her body demand warmth. It was the first time she felt like running away and hiding out of embarrassment. Even she could feel the look in his eyes pierced her body.

He frowned upon her answer.

"Traditional Euphorion dress? Why have I never heard of it?" he said with a puzzled expression.

"They said this was just a minor tradition, so they never recorded it in the book," she replied again. She knew she should have asked about his past and his mysterious powers, yet she couldn't say a word about it.

Angel was silent and tried to remember the Euphorion traditions, not only from books but also from other people's information. Indeed some minor traditions were not recorded in the book, but why was no one mentioning this? Was it because Euphorion hadn't held a royal marriage in a long time? Or because the late King Xenos never married and only played with women so they covered up this fact?

"I will ask Chancellor Allan about this tomorrow," he said. There was no harm in this tradition and it was a normal thing for a couple.
