27 Warlock of Pandemonium [Rewritten]

A strange man wearing a black robe stood before the humans. He held a fierce looking staff in his hand. As he stood, the humans could feel a strange vibe coming from him. Perhaps that was just their imagination.

This robed man stood idly with no other movements; he lowered his head as if hiding his face even though he had his mask on. For some reason, he appeared to be so mysterious.

This mysterious looking man was Brutus. A servant and creation of the Dark Lord.

He peered upon the humans pointing their weapons against him. They were insignificant. They were irrelevant. In his eyes, they were worthless. That said, he had no hate towards them, there was no reason to hate them. It was just how he perceived him.

It was something like looking at a small insect. You wouldn't care what would happen to them. You can step on them or splatter but you still won't feel guilty. You would feel no sympathy. That was how it was for him.

Perhaps that was because his master created him to be undead. Because of that, he was designed not to care for the living. He had no affinity towards the humans, and it was clear to him. However, he was not troubled by it at all. If that was how that way he was, then so be it. Besides, there was no point in being troubled about having no feelings towards humans.

The humans were not part of his master's minions nor servants. Therefore, why should he care about the ones which had no relationship with his creator?

As he took a step forward, the humans began their barrage of attacks against Brutus. Automatic rifles, magic-powered rifles, and the explosive attacks from a tank all landed at him. The explosion produced smoke and caused a dust cloud which obstructed his view at the humans which also blocked the humans' view towards him.

Brutus formed an evil smile behind the mask and amidst the smoke and dust.

"Bone Golems, rise from nothing and follow my orders… destroy the Dark Lord's enemies."

He called out to something which no one understood what they were.

Just then, silhouettes began to rise amidst the smoke and dust. Those silhouettes rose from the ground and appeared to have materialized in merely a short moment.

Those silhouettes were giants and they had a strange figure, so strange.

Then weird screams erupted at the same time from the smoke and echoed across the battlefield. The scream was high pitched and somehow resembled a dying person releasing his last breath. It was a very odd scream which sent shivers to everyone's spine once they heard it.

It was certainly a cry. However, it didn't belong to any human, but it came from the smoke. As the scream was heard, the smoke and dust spread out causing them to dissipate. There it was made clear. It was not a scream but rather a roar.

A fearsome roar from monstrous and fearsome creatures, or perhaps monsters. And those monsters were the ones that were unveiled from the smoke.

Three of them stood before the robed man. They stood at three meters tall and had a humanoid body shape. What made these monsters distinguishable was their skeletal body, there was not a single shed of skin on them, all were bones.

It had a human skull which served as its head. However, its teeth were larger and its fangs were larger, longer and sharper. Its feet were not human-like at all, but rather they were like a bird's feet – it had three toes, or rather, it would be more precise to call them sharp claws.

Its arms were not like humans that have fingers. It appeared deadly. It had scythe-like pair of arms, from a glance one could judge that those scythes completely made of bones were pretty sharp. They could easily pierce the heaviest armor and cleave through hundreds of humans with ease.

In addition, its shoulders have rising curved sharp bones. In contrast, the golems possessed a pair of dreadful pair of glowing eyes within their empty eye sockets. Perhaps they were flames or just a pair of lights glowing, no one could certainly say.

The soldiers shuddered as they laid their eyes on these horrendous monsters.

Then the Bone Golems charged forward. The tank tried to aim at a golem, however, before they could get a bead on one, a golem already had that tank within its reach. It raised up its scythe-like arms and struck down piercing the vehicle which possessed a hard armor like a piece of paper. It didn't end there, it raised its other arm again and did the same thing. The operators inside died in the process.

The other two golems stepped and smashed on the defenses like they were nothing. Then immediately, they swept their sharp arms all around. A number of soldiers were caught up within the golems' reach.

Bodies flew but only half of it. They were sliced like raw meats being prepared for cooking.

In one swept several men were slaughtered. Worst of all, the golems didn't stop moving but instead swept their arms around while walking. It was like a scene where someone was cutting grasses to clear the way. It was a truly gory sight.

Brutus had entered within the human defenses as he peered all around. Even though the humans were killed in a brutal way, he felt nothing. Because of that, he casually swept his eyes around the area.

Even though he felt nothing towards the living, somehow, he cared about his comrades – the other creations of his master. He didn't exactly know why but he knew if they were serving the same master, they were allies. Also, perhaps the way he cared about his allies was certainly a special case.

The three golems roared once again as though they were enjoying the slaughter themselves. Their roars caused the soldiers to shiver and hairs of their bodies to stand on edge. They tried to shoot them down, however, it was not enough to destroy them. All they had reached was scratch, and crack the bones. They tried to throw all kinds of explosives, but not enough to fully destroy them but only shatter some parts of their body.

At his point, Brutus grew concerned. If more attacks landed on the golems, the humans will eventually destroy one of them, then the next one also, until the last one.

He set his eyes on a group of soldiers which was close to each other.

"[Necrotic Mutation]."

He cast a spell then grain trails appeared all of a sudden on the ground beneath the soldiers. The soldiers were frightened and confused as they saw this odd occurrence. They had no idea what those could be. But they did know those were dangerous.

With the feeling of danger, the soldiers tried to run away. However, before they could take a step, they realized they couldn't move and felt weird. They looked below and saw that the green trails began to crawl up from their feet. The green slowly rose up and went inside their flesh. As those rose higher within their body, they began to feel intense pain.

They screamed and cried in the tremendous pain they were feeling inside their body. It was a pain like something was carving inside their flesh using several blades. They rattled and writhed until they limply fell to the ground.

The other soldiers gazed at their fallen comrades in confusion. They didn't know exactly what happened to them. However, it was clear that they were dead. Yes, that was supposed to be the case. However, they noticed one of the dead which was lying on the ground twitched.

Did one of them survive? They hoped one survived. Sadly, that hope was taken away in an instant as one by one, those supposed to be dead stood up. The other soldiers who watched them were dumbstruck.

Their allies who were supposed to be dead which was now standing had dead empty eyes. Then, they began to growl. All of a sudden, those standing dead people began rushing towards the other soldiers who were watching.

In instinct, the soldiers ran away from them. However, one of them was caught by one of the dead and bit his neck, or perhaps chew. One of the soldiers gave the effort to save that pinned down soldier and successful shot that supposed to be dead soldier in the head.

After taking out that hostile, he glanced at the chewed soldier. No doubt he was already dead. However, what was shocking was that it moved. Then immediately that supposed to be dead soldier latched towards the other soldier. In shock, the soldier screamed in terror.

As others witnessed this scene. They had come to a realization what these were. These were creatures mostly seen in fantasy shows and stories. Commonly depicted to cause the apocalypse, the end of the world.

Zombies.

Yes, that was the name of these creatures. Creatures who feed on the living.

In fear, some soldiers ran to seek a safer distance. Some opened fire. They may have been successful in eliminating those zombies, more of the dead went rising up. The zombies kept increasing in number.

Brutus expected the human soldiers to be able to take out a number of zombies. After all, zombies were one of the weakest units. That said, what made these creatures fearsome was their number.

A few of them was no problem, but what if there were dozens upon dozens of them? Humans might be able to eliminate some, however, if there were a lot of zombies, eventually the humans will be stormed by them.

Zombies were fearsome and deadly with greater number.

Brutus smiled.

"The pandemonium is so entertaining."

He quietly said as he watched over the chaos and slaughter unfolding before him.

Then all of a sudden, a strong impact of a bullet seemed to have hit him.

Hm? A bullet, it was stronger than the others… well, never mind that. It wasn't enough to damage my barrier anyway.

He thought as he returned his gaze at the chaos.

"Suffer and die for my Lord and Master, humans!"

He said as he smiled and spread his arms wide as though welcoming everything that may come to him.

And this was Brutus, the Warlock of Pandemonium. The summoner of the undead, the bringer of chaos and disorder.
