6 The Guardians

At a balcony of the mansion, there Xyn was standing while leaning on the railings. He was looking in the distance while in deep thought. He was wearing an all-black trench coat and black clothes, the coat was well designed and meticulously detailed and the clothes inside were also greatly designed and fitted perfectly with the set. The set can be described as luxurious a clothing which commonly wore by wealthy men.

It had been a month and a half since the guardians' creations. After a few days of the creation, Xyn told the guardians to go out to see the vast world, but all of them insisted on staying. The guardians didn't want to leave Xyn because they thought that leaving the master alone would be impolite. The reason why Xyn wanted the guardians to go out was because they have nothing else to do. So when the guardians insisted on staying, Xyn let them do what they want.

***

A month and a half ago, during the creation.

The guardians offered their absolute loyalty to Xyn, and he was excited and amazed.

Incredible! Their voices and appearance are exactly what I designed. Also, how did they manage to say that line in perfect unison? But that was awesome! And they know my full name! Well, my name is in their backstory after all.

After thinking all of that, Xyn realized that he had yet to reply to the guardians after their offer of loyalty.

How should I reply? Well, I watched a lot of movies and anime like this, those should help. Hmmmm.

Xyn thought deep until he finally found the words to say.

"Raise your heads, guardians."

The guardians raised their heads and looked to Xyn.

"First, congratulations on coming into existence, I am filled with wonder when I finally saw you in front of me."

The guardians smiled and their eyes were filled with great respect towards Xyn.

"We are greatly grateful for the feelings you have for us and for creating us, my lord." Criswell said.

Xyn struggled to think what he should say next after what Criswell said.

What should I say next? I have no clue… aaaah just jump over to the giving of equipment.

Xyn never thought it would be this difficult in real life to think on what he should say to a subordinate. Xyn had never been a boss before, he only saw this kind of events in movies and anime.

"Now then, stand up guardians. I will give you your necessary equipment that I created."

When Xyn said that, all the guardians gasped together. Xyn wondered why they did that, he thought that he might have said something wrong. Therefore, he asked them.

"You personally created our equipment for us?" Agiel said.

Then all guardians slowly stood up while their mouth opened a little.

So that was it? They reacted like that just because I created their weapons! Hmmm, maybe because they didn't expect a master would personally create their equipment.

"Of course, how can you use your power to its full potential and defend yourself without any weapons. It is a master's responsibility to provide for their subordinates when it is needed, is it not?"

The guardians looked at each other and later looked at Xyn with awed eyes.

"We are grateful for your care, my lord." Criswell said.

Then all the guardians bowed deeply to Xyn.

Xyn smiled to the guardians and said.

"Just call me Xyn, guardians."

"Understood, Lord Xyn." Criswell said.

"No, I mean just call me by my name alone."

The guardians shrugged after what Xyn said, and again Xyn wondered why.

"How could we do something like that to our almighty creator?" Adrasteia said.

"That's right my lord, we as the created and your servants should address the great one with great respect." Agiel said.

The rest of the guardians nodded in agreement.

"I-Is that so? Then 'Lord Xyn' is fine."

Xyn heard the guardians sighed a little.

I guess that's because they are just absolutely loyal to me, just like their original settings.

"Then I'll start giving items first to Criswell."

Criswell bowed her head.

A hole appeared beside Xyn. Xyn waved his hand and a full plate armor of white and gold came out of the hole, then a kite shield with matching colors as the armor, and lastly a sword with matching colors as the armor. All of the items were greatly designed and meticulously detailed. He used magic to make the items float, that was because he didn't want to put the items on to the ground and make it dirty when it was not been used yet.

"Put these items inside your inventory."

Criswell held out her hands then a hole appeared. Xyn then moved his fingers then the items went inside the hole, after the items entered, the hole disappeared.

Criswell, the Holy Maiden of Providence, an angel. Criswell has an appearance of beauty which surpasses the heavens and people who see her might think of her as some sort of goddess. Criswell has golden hair reaching her waist and golden eyes, she has white skin, a slender body, and wearing a white and gold dress. She has an appearance of a 23-year-old human female, but in her settings and as an angel her age is more than 23.

She is assigned in the position of Guardian Overseer, and she is also the most powerful of the guardians whether in offense or defense and one of the most intelligent of the guardians. In addition, she possesses the ability to control the power of the light and holy magic. She is also supposed to have wings on her back but right now, those are nowhere to be seen, that is because there is no reason to use the wings at the moment.

"Yours are next Adrasteia."

Adrasteia bowed her head and she held out her hand then a hole appeared.

Xyn waved his hand then a rapier and a pair of gauntlets came out of the hole. The rapier's blade has the color of silver and its hilt's color matched with her clothes. The pair of gauntlets also has matching colors as her set. All of the items are greatly designed and meticulously detailed. Xyn moved his hand and the items went inside the inventory of Adrasteia.

Adrasteia, the Immortal General of the Legion, an immortal human. Adrasteia has long black hair and blue eyes, a slender body, a light brown skin and a comparable beauty to Criswell. She wears a black and gold military hat, and a black and gold double-breasted military coat. She has an appearance of a 21-year-old female, for she is an immortal human, she will never age and her appearance will never change.

She is assigned to command and lead Xyn's army – when he makes an army – in battle, she is also exceptionally intelligent when it comes to strategies in war or a battle. She has the ability to spawn and fully control a lot of artillery weapons and other types of weaponry whether magic cannons, rifles, and so on. She can make the weapons move as she likes, like going forward, up, or a move to defend herself with the weapons she spawned.

"Next is your item, Brutus."

Brutus bowed and held out his hand then a hole appeared. Xyn waved his hand and a black staff with sharp edges came out. The staff has a fearsome appearance and releasing a little of menacing aura. Xyn moved his hand and the black staff went inside Brutus' inventory.

Brutus, the Warlock of pandemonium, an undead. He has grey skin and red eyes, wearing a black robe. As a warlock he can summon many undead and a few demons, he can cast skills and spells of necromancy, and skills of corruption and decay which can affect living creatures. He can also cast some demonic spells and anything evil related and more. He is assigned to create some armies for Xyn to command and might sometimes be sent to destroy an entire city if ordered to do so.

"Then Sagremor open your inventory. As you are already wearing your armor, I'll give you these.

Sagremor bowed and opened his inventory. Xyn moved his hand then a black helm and two swords came out. The black helm fits perfectly with his set of armor, the two swords were different in design but mostly have the color of black. The items then went inside Sagremor's inventory.

Sagremor, Sword Master of a Thousand blades, a fallen angel. He has black hair and black eyes wearing a black armor. He has the appearance of a 25-year-old human male, but as a fallen angel his real age in his backstory is more than 25. Sagremor is assigned as the sword of the master, as his title said he is a sword master. He has the ability to shoot some blades from his hand and also can provide regular swords or other blade weapons to wield, Xyn gave him swords because the swords that Sagremor can provide from his skills are just regular metal swords.

Sagremor also has the ability to spawn a bunch of swords or other bladed weapons from the ground in an area, therefore, impaling anyone or anything within the area of effect, of course, he has more skills and abilities than that. He is also an expert when it comes to a one on one fight, so the other guardians might find it difficult to win against him in a duel.

"Then next, Agiel"

Agiel bowed and opened his inventory.

"As your build is not for frontal attack, this will greatly increase your defense, use it when it is needed."

"I understand."

Xyn moved his hand and a black ring came out. The ring has something like a blue gem on it. As the ring is a magic item, it will change its size to fit the wearer, so there's no need to worry if the ring is too big or small. The ring then went to Agiel's inventory.

Agiel, the Demon of Purgatorial Flames, a demon. He has dark skin, black hair, red eyes, and pointy ears, wearing formal clothes with a black suit, red long sleeves, a black tie, black slacks, black formal shoes, and black gloves on both hands. Demons are said to be smart, but Agiel is the smartest. He is the most intelligent amongst the guardians, he has much more intellectual level than the guardian overseer herself. He is a master when it comes to strategies, scheming and more.

However, he is not all powerful compared to the guardians for his build is not for frontal attack or as a front liner, but he is the massive damage dealer among the guardians. He may not be built for a one on one battle but his intellect is something to be feared, he may be able to defeat even the strongest duelist with the help of his intelligence. He has the primary element of fire, but not just normal fire, he can use the flames that give extreme punishment, the flames of the purgatory. He can also summon several demons, low to high-level demons. In contrast, unlike any typical demons in stories, Agiel doesn't have horns on his head – well, not in his current form that is.

"And finally, Xelya."

"Y-Yes!"

Xelya bowed and opened her inventory. Xyn moved his hand and a brown wooden staff came out. The staff was tall as Xelya, the top edge of the staff is rounded and a red crystal inside the circle. Then the staff went inside Xelya's inventory. In contrast, the staff was meant to be as tall as the wielder, so as the staff is a magic item it will change size to fit the wielder.

Xelya, the Enchanting Agent of Destruction, an elf. She has brown skin, brown eyes, brown hair that reached her back and long pointy ears, wearing a white and black dress with a matching short skirt almost reaching her knees, and dark brown boots with black and white socks. She looks like a 10-year-old human girl, but in elven age, she is 100 years old. For her enchanting appearance people might think of her as an innocent little elf, but do not be fooled. She can use explosion magic to its fullest potential, by just her touch almost no trace of a living being will remain if she uses her magic. She may even be able to destroy an entire city with just one cast of explosion magic.

After giving Xelya her items, Xyn walked to the front door of the mansion.

"You can equip your items if you wanted and those items will make you stronger than what you normally are. I might give you more in the future, so for the meantime use what you just received."

"This is more than we deserved my lord, please there's no need to trouble you anymore." Sagremor said.

"Is that so? Very well…"

Xyn observed them for a while and analyzed everything.

Hmmm, they may be able to talk and converse… But is their identity currently with them, just the way I designed them? They may know their title, but their personality is yet to be seen. I guess I should try something.

"Then, as you all were just born. Why don't you clearly introduce yourselves to each other? It is best to know each other now so further work will be efficient."

The guardians glanced at each other several times. As Xyn thought, it was still quite awkward. Well, that was also a sign, a sign that they were indeed living beings with their own mind.

Then Criswell spoke to Xyn.

"I understand, my Lord."

After that, she turned to face the guardians and cleared her throat.

Then a forceful tyrannical voice echoed the area.

"Well then guardians! I am Criswell, your Overseer. It's nice to meet you all… Now then, next up on introduction!"

She said so in a very strict and commanding tone.

Woah, I don't recall making her commanding on that level. I expected her to be gentler. And the introduction is quite short, well, what else is there to be said anyway.

"Then I guess I should be next."

A man's gentle voice reached everyone's ear, then that man stepped forward.

"I am Agiel, the Demon of Purgatorial Flames. I look forward working with you all."

He said as he bowed deeply as though in etiquette. He also smiled broadly towards them.

What a chill guy, I guess I sort of made him like that.

Xyn thought.

"I am also looking forward to working under you, Lady Criswell."

Criswell smiled back at him.

"I'm glad to be working with a person like you. Also, you don't have to formally address me."

"But, don't I supposed to address someone of higher position than me with respect?"

"That's fine, after all we are all guardians created by Lord Xyn."

"I see. Then I shall do so, Criswell."

"Then who's next?" Criswell again strictly said towards the others.

"Oh! Me!"

A man wearing an armor raised his hand as he rushed towards the front.

"Hey everyone! I am Sagremor! The master of swords, hehe."

He energetically said as he smiled. Then he approached Agiel that was closest to him and extended his hand.

"Nice to meet you!"

His extended hand signifies for a handshake, therefore Agiel took his hand.

"Likewise."

Sagremor then shook his hand with great force using both his own hands, which surprised Agiel.

After he let go of Agiel's hand, he immediately rushed towards Criswell and extended his hand. Criswell instantly understood this so she slowly extended her hands. However, Sagremor suddenly reached out for her hand and shook it vigorously.

"It's a pleasure to be working with you Criswell!"

"Uh, Hm."

Then Agiel called out to him.

"Sagremor, you shouldn't be shaking a hand to a lady that way."

Sagremor instantly let go.

"Really?"

"Thank you for pointing that out Agiel."

Criswell thank Agiel as she held her own hand after all the vigorous shaking.

"Huh. Is that so? I see."

Then a woman's stern voice interjected, and that voice was aimed at Sagremor.

"It's just not about a lady. Don't you even recognize that you were rudely shaking a hand of our superior? Idiot."

They all turned around and saw that the source of that sound was a beautiful lady wearing a military uniform.

Her face was incredibly serious as she glared at Sagremor. Seeing this made Sagremor shiver due to her piercing gaze, and he cowered behind the back of Agiel.

"Uwah, she's scary… You're so serious… Adrasteia, right?"

"Yes, my name is Adrasteia… I'll be looking forward on working with you." She looked at everyone as she said that.

"… Adrasteia, you're beautiful, but you're scary… So serious…"

Sagremor said as he hid behind Agiel.

"Is that so? Then I imagine you're the idiot one, the one that is going to be so noisy and highly likely to be the most annoying one in my eyes, no perhaps you would even annoy plenty of people. But most of all, I imagine you will be acting like an idiot most of the time."

"Uh!!" Sagremor felt like he was struck by countless swords from Adrasteia's straightforward words.

How frank! Too frank! Did I make her that kind of straightforward? She ought to hold back, damn. I might also get hurt so bad if a beautiful girl like her tell that to me… Well, good thing I recall I designed her to not be frank mindlessly.

Xyn thought as he had a bitter smile. He kind of thought it was a bit funny.

"That hurts!"

"Is that so?" Adrasteia flatly responded as though she didn't care about Sagremor's feelings."

"Yup… Now you're more scary… Hehe, anyway who's next?!"

Sagremor instantly changed his way of speaking, from frightened to normal, like nothing happened at all.

He changed gears so fast! Did those feelings just vanish in an instant? I don't recall making him that way. That's strange.

Xyn thought.

"I shall be the next one."

The man in the black robe said so and stepped forward.

"Greetings everyone, my name is Brutus."

He bowed his head as he placed his hand on his chest.

"The dark abyss in my heart is filled with light in your presence before me. It feels as though my whole soul will glow and there will never be a trace of sorrow."

He said with no falter and in a dark manner.

"Huh?" Sagremor expressed.

The others also had the expression the same as Sagremor.

Noticing their bafflement, Brutus spoke again.

"Ah, I meant it's a pleasure meeting you."

"You should have said that from the start." Adrasteia said.

"Dude, why did you have to make it that long. You could have made a shorter version." Sagremor said.

"Oh, I see."

"Okay, with that's done, then it's your turn little girl."

Criswell pointed out the last one.

The young elf girl slowly stepped forward. She appeared to be shy.

"H-Hello everyone, I, I am Xelya. It's nice to meet you all."

"Hahaha, nice to meet you too! No need to be shy."

Sagremor approached her and smiled.

"Ah, is that so?"

"She is a child, it's only expected for her to act that way." Agiel said.

"Oh, of course. But don't be shy when approaching any of us, okay? After all, we are all comrades."

"Really…? Okay."

"Great!"

They appeared to be getting along now. That gave Xyn a feeling of relief. It would seem they were all stable, and he saw no failure whatsoever. Therefore, he decided to continue on and enter the mansion.

"I'm glad you're all getting along. Now then, we shouldn't spend too long outside in the middle of the night. Let us enter our home."

All of them instantly responded in agreement. Also, they appeared to be excited, which also made Xyn excited.

"Let's go."

He went to go for the door first, he thought it would be appropriate for him to go first. But before he was about to step on the steps of the door, he stopped.

"Oh wait."

Then glimmering bright light appeared to the side of his body. Then those lights immediately moved from one side to the other. Just then, his clothes changed.

He was now wearing black trench coat and black clothes. His set of clothes were exquisitely made that not many expensive clothing in a high-class store could even begin to compared.

He could hear the guardians gasped behind him, perhaps because they were amazed by his clothes.

My set's amazing right?! Hehe, I worked hard on designing this, and I'm not even good at designing stuff.

He thought.

"Alright, let's go."

Xyn opened the double doors with both his hands.

***

The present day.

As Xyn was leaning on the railing, he looked below and saw a patrolling skeleton.

After Xyn allowed the guardians to do whatever they wanted. The first thing the guardians did was put securities around the mansion. The guardians first gathered some corpses from the nearby town's cemetery and then turned the skeletons into skeleton warriors. When creating an undead creature without a medium, the creature may only exist in a limited time but with a corpse, the creature could stay into existence permanently. Then they had the skeletons patrol the inside and the outside of the walls.

Hmmm… The guardians acting like that, now I'm sure that they do have rational souls.

Xyn now fully confirmed that the ones he created could entirely think for themselves. They can make decisions, think what is supposed to do, and think what should be done, feel and more.

Xyn can make life forms without using the Magic Crystals, but without the crystals, the created ones won't be as powerful and intelligent as the guardians. The guardians are all at the power level of 100 – that's currently the highest level ever possessed in the world – and are very intelligent and can think for themselves. Without a crystal, he can only make a living being up to the level 50 to 75 depending on the features he put.

Xyn heard a knock on the door and he turned his head to look at the door.

"Come in!"

As he gave permission, a woman with black hair and green eyes wearing a metal plated maid uniform entered the room.

"Excuse me Lord Xyn. Agiel has returned from his task and is waiting for you at your office."

Xyn turned around to face the maid.

"Is that so? Then I'll be heading there now."

Xyn walked to the door passing by the maid and went outside his room. When Xyn was now outside the room, he let the maid close the door for him.

I could close the door myself, but I saw in some films that the ruler let the maids do these kinds of things, so I should let them do that.

Letting the maids do these kinds of trivial task also shows and reminds them that Xyn was their master and their absolute ruler and the highest order. Also, the maids seemed quite happy when they're doing something for their master so Xyn just let the maids do some tasks as they like.

"Oh, Aesyla." Xyn called the maid.

"Yes my lord?"

"How are you and your sisters? Are you all doing well in the mansion?"

"Of course we are doing more than well. We have been cleaning every corner of the house, doing our duties and serving you makes us greatly happy."

"I see. Then is there anything you're not satisfied with?"

"How could we not be satisfied with what the supreme creator gave us? You gave us a home, and nothing makes us more happy and grateful."

"Is that so? Alright, then I'll be going now."

The maid bowed deeply and went downstairs to the first floor while Xyn went upstairs to the third floor. Xyn was in his room on the second floor, his room was the largest and most lavish than the other rooms. The other rooms were given to guardians and the rooms on the first floor were given to the maids.

The maid that came to Xyn was named Aesyla the eldest among the Hyades Battle Maids. The Hyades has seven members – from eldest to the youngest – the eldest is Aesyla (an angel), Ambrosia (a vampire), Mira (a lycanthrope), Cleia (an elf), Nisea (a shapeshifter), Cardia (a nymph), and lastly Fera (a fairy). Aesyla's wings were nowhere to be seen when he came to Xyn's room because there was no need to use the wings. The Hyades Battle Maids were just created five days ago, that was why Xyn asked Aesyla about her and her sisters.

Xyn reached the staircase and went up. The staircase was luxuriously designed and very detailed, the steps were so shiny that you just don't want to step on to these very clean steps.

He finally reached the third floor, the first door he saw was the door to his office. He opened the door and he saw two people, an angel, and a demon. After entering the room, he closed the door and as the guardians looked backed, they immediately kneeled. In contrast, Xyn's office was wide and lavishly made, the large table was so shiny and cleaned, the same also applied to the corners and floor of the room, it was that clean because the maids often enter the office to clean up. No, perhaps often was understatement.

"Rise."

The two guardians stood up.

Xyn then walked around the large table and sat on the chair. He looked forward and saw two smiling persons.

They are both smiling as always, just like their settings. It seems like the smiles are genuine.

Xyn created both Criswell and Agiel to always smile, some smiles could be genuine but some are not.

"It's good you're also here Criswell."

"When I heard of Agiel's return, I immediately went to this room. After all, my lord, it is my duty and responsibility to assist you and stay by your side."

"Hm, I see."

Xyn shifted his sight to Agiel and saw a smiling demon.

Two smiling extraordinary beings surround me, what a bizarre occurrence. While this sometimes happens, this is still bizarre to me.

After thinking that, he then moved to the main topic.

"Now then Agiel, your report?

"Yes. I had completed my full reconnaissance in a large town on the west."

Xyn ordered Agiel to gather information about a particular town. Agiel often reports to Xyn about what he currently found and come back to the town to gather more necessary information.

"Then, what more did you find?"

"As it is a town that is also occupied by the military to serve as their base. I recently discovered they indeed have magic cannons at their disposals."

"Hmmm. What about the populace? Did you discover more about them?"

"Yes. I've confirmed that half the populations are normal civilians and the rest are the military. The normal citizens think that they are safe with all the military around them, which is why they are confident that no one will dare attack their precious town."

"We already know about their every firepower now, am I right?"

"Yes my lord."

Xyn looked at the table and seemed to be thinking about something. Then after several seconds, he said:

"I believe we already have enough information. It is time to send the warning."

***

In a large town with large buildings and a few tall ones were standing, and surrounded by tall and large walls. People were walking around the streets with smiles on their faces, people purchasing at the markets, people hanging with their friends and having fun, and more. Groups of armed personnel were patrolling the street, and people giving their respects to the soldiers.

It was a sunny day with the sun at its peak. Citizens of this town were happy and confident that no danger may come to them. But suddenly, black clouds appeared on the sky, and slowly spread covering the entire town. Then what seemed like thick white smoke was descending from the center of the clouds. The citizens looked up to the sky, wondering what was going on, 'why is it suddenly dark', 'where did these clouds come from', and 'why is there thick smoke coming down from the clouds' and more questions appeared inside their minds.

The smoke then separated from each other and flew around the entire town.

Faces appeared on the front edge of every smoke, the faces were not very clear but they were shifting and changing appearance every second and it was creepy. There were roughly hundreds of these trails of smoke circling the town. The faces and auras of the smokes gave a slight fear to the people of the town.

"Those with ears to hear, listen to us!"

Multiple hoarse voices then came out from the smokes and all sounded at the same time. The voices were like several people suffering and shouting while in agony, this made some citizens of the town quiver in fear while looking to these unknown beings.

"We have been sent by the peerless one to deliver a message!"

The people focused their eyes on the trails of smoke and keenly listened to their words.

"Death comes for you!"
